Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Definitely in the top 5 LBs in the league imo. Not too hard to achieve considering the state of fullbacks in general at the moment!
ponsaelius
There is a real dirth in quality full backs like. We're lucky to have Jose tbh. VI, is there any good left backs coming through in Spain? what are the a chances after a good season in the Prem Jose could take Capevilla's place? The only player I can think of other than Jose and Capdevila is Monreal, I remember him being quite decent.

David28
Interview from the bbc with Jose. Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique believes his side has nothing to fear when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on 16 August. The Magpies open their Premier League campaign away to last season's runners up, and Enrique says his side can cause an upset on their top flight return. "I think we can win," the Spanish defender told BBC Newcastle. "It's better to play them in the first few games because they aren't at 100%. I think this is good for us." United's last visit to Old Trafford saw Kevin Keegan's side leave with an impressive 1-1 draw in a repeat of this season's opener. However, the result was one of few highlights in a season which ended in turmoil on Tyneside, with relegation to the Football League. Enrique and his team-mates bounced back by cruising to the Championship title last season, but the lively full-back knows that Premiership survival is the club's main priority this term. "The most important thing is to keep in the division but of course if we play well we can move up the table," the 24-year-old continued. After moving to Tyneside from Villarreal for £6.3m in 2007, the former Spain Under-21 international has become a favourite at St James' Park, and he is grateful for the fans' support. "When you play well you enjoy it because the fans will like you and everyone knows the fans here are unbelievable," Enrique added. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8892745.stm

Colocho
I honestly think Ryan Taylor is better than James Perch from what we've seen in pre-season.
TaylorJ_01
For all his defensive frailties at least Ryan Taylor offers a bit in attack. Defensively he's probably the same as Perch.
Ronaldo
That's the thing. At least there is a hint of benefit in having Ryan Taylor on the pitch.

STM
Far too early to be writing off Perch, although it may be a benefit to him if expectations are low.
Guest firetotheworks
Ooooh, that's borderline giving his 'potential' a chance/conceding that he'll be eternally shit. I'll try and stay positive and give him more than a pre-season, but by god he's be poor.
Ketsbaia
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/194559/Jose-Enrique-We-ll-give-it-a-bash-to-lose-Joey-Barton-s-tache JOSE ENRIQUE: WE’LL GIVE IT A BASH TO LOSE JOEY BARTON’S ’TACHE Jose Enrique is poised with his razor blade to rid the world of Joey Barton’s latest howler – the midfielder’s pencil moustache. Barton sported his new look at Old Trafford and has vowed not to shave until Newcastle win in the Premier League and Enrique is desperate for normal upper lip service to be resumed with victory over managerless Aston Villa tomorrow at St James’ Park. Spanish full-back Enrique cannot stand Barton’s new Rhett Butler-style soup strainer and wants to erase its memory as soon as possible. “If I had a moustache like that, my girlfriend would dump me,” he said. “But he seems quite proud of it and saw us all looking at his photo in the papers. “He didn’t realise we were all laughing at it. It is ugly, really, really ugly and I told him that, but he does not want to shave it off and I cannot understand why because it looks so bad. I suppose if he plays well, I don’t care what he looks like. “At the start of the pre-season, Alan Smith and a few others started growing moustaches but said they would shave them off when the Premier League started. “But Joey continued with his moustache. He claims he will keep it until we win a game. Let’s hope we win one soon, if that’s the case. He is a crazy man. This means we have to win the game against Villa. “We will get rid or it for him. I will even shave it off myself. It would be my pleasure. He looks like my father and he is in his 50s. Yes, you can say Joey looks like a 50-year-old man. He is going to love me for saying that.” Enrique has another motive for wanting a win tomorrow as he played in the match at Villa Park 15 months ago which sent Newcastle tumbling into the Championship. “It was a terrible day, the worst day of my career,” he said. “The first time I’ve ever been relegated. It was terrible for me, the players, fans, everyone. “I saw fans crying and I nearly cried too. It was difficult to see my team-mates and the fans so upset. Now we are back in the Premier League and we do not have to think of those dark times. “The Villa fans were laughing at us and that was hard to take, but I guess it is normal for fans to do that. Getting three points is the most important thing but, yes, we owe them. That was a tough time for all of us. “My first season was hard because we nearly went down and then we did go down in my second. Villa have a good team but, unlike United, they are not so much better than us. We can compete with them. “They have lost James Milner, who was very important to them but, more significantly, they have lost their manager. “This is really hard for them because Martin O’Neill had been there quite a while and done a good job. They have to start again and I know how difficult it can be. “Two seasons ago, I had four managers here and that is not ideal. “Villa are a better team than us when you look at what they did last season, but when you have a good dressing room like we have, the results will come. “This is our first home game of the season and if we play as we did against Manchester United it will be very difficult for Villa.” I just love this guy
Guest firetotheworks
I don't care how often it's said. He's a beast and a wizard, and I absolutely love him. Yesterday was the best I've seen him play for us. Only Carroll, who was a superstar, was better. Legend in the making.
