José Enrique

Which Champion's League club even want him? Arsenal? Wenger has said he isn't going to replace Clichy. Liverpool aren't in the Champion's League. Barcelona? I can't see them wanting him. If he went there he'd never get a game.

Is a fair point, and a wake up call for Jose

José Enrique would be #2 LB for us, and given the amount of games Abidal will probably spend at CB next season, see a fair amount of football.

Was pretty much my view on it.  IS there actually any genuine interest though, or just paper talk?

Jose is acting like a nobber, unfortunately it will be best for both parties if he's sold this summer.

The difference between Joey and Jose is that Joey wants a new contract and will be playing to get one.  Jose's performances already came into question last season and it will be even worse if he stays.  He's not interested, doesn't wanna be here and his attitude will be damaging to morale.

Fuck you, Jose. :(

A lot of assumptions there mate, do we know anything about his level of interest or attitude? He had a few poorer games at the end of last season, but that's about it.

Need to get rid asap, easier said than done i guess.

Really? There must be someone willing to pay £6 million for him...

You would have thought so but why havent they stepped forward yet then?

Aye, they're all queueing round the corner at SJP as we speak.

£6m now for a player who wants to leave and has said as much

or

£3m in Jan for the same player who wants to leave

or

Free next season for the same player who wants to leave.

Colo logic - £6m now.

Pardew's "airing of dirty laundry" strikes me as diaphanous as taking Enrique down to a market stall in London, donning a Del Boy flat cap and -literally- slapping a price tag on Jose Enrique's head. Then spouting the same crap over and over until some passerby takes interest.

If Jose wants to move, fine. Looking for a buyer like this is cringeworthy though.

Doesn't surprise me, just a shame people won't stop and think for a second before posting at times.

Enrique is a player that is available, that they know wants to move on, that's in the last season of his contract. Newcastle can set a price all their want, but clubs will sit and wait, as will Enrique, and make what they feel is the right offer. Probably be a little bidding way from abroad in Jan for his services (since Foreign clubs can approach him legally 6 months before contract ends). Might get a few lower bids in Jan from English clubs.

If Enrique is as good as we think he is, we'll have no problems selling him this summer. After all, the buyer will get one of the better lb in Pl for half the price. And the competition for him will be even stronger if he's a free agent, which some clubs probably want to avoid.

So where are the bids then?

Why bid? Who are you going to steal the march on by bidding now? Clubs know he's available, they know what value Newcastle have for him, and what value they have internally with their own club. Why worry about that player you know is available, and has a set price now? Go look at other targets, that guy is going to be there in the mean time. If a club bids for him, match their bid, no need to worry. The player wants to move, the club he's at are aware of that, so why spend your time worrying about that club?

As soon as 1 club enters talks, or bids, other clubs will probably come in and match it. In the meantime, they'll be looking at 'less available' players, and spending their resources/time trying to work a deal. Enrique is a deal on the table, that just needs your stamp.

Potentially interested clubs will know that time is in their favour too, if he doesn't sign he'll walk next summer for owt and are aware NUFC will probably have to settle for a knockdown price the closer we get to the window's closure.

This is on the money. I think we will lower our valuation to around £4-5m in order to get a sale and maybe the money which was set aside for Taylor will be added to that and we'll make a serious bid for M'bengue.

Exactly.

Foreign clubs can talk to him in Jan, to sign him on a free.
