I don't think they will have problems shifting other players first. Martinez and/or Ramsey would be my bets for the pure profit that Ramsey would generate. Onana cost £50m so has a book value of £40m so they would have to sell for at least £60m you would imagine for it to make financial sense to even consider to sell.

As said no I haven’t seen him play but I’ve read and heard quite a lot about him for a while now. Seems to be VERY highly rated, especially his potential ceiling which is said to be very very high. Therefore I used the word “could” because he’s still young and you never know in football and adaptation to a new country and so on. Many say he’s destined to go far.

Vlach is likely unsellable as he’ll have been paid over the odds to do the deal last year. And selling him for peanuts triggers a PSR loss on the books. Best can hope for there is a loan with a bit of fee income

I think Onana would be an amazing signing but I can't see Villa selling him. I think they are expecting him to go to another level this season, he has so many qualities.

I was thinking £15m for Willock, £15m for Longstaff and £10m combined for the two goalkeepers but as mentioned further down that would create a loss on Vlach so is pointless. Surely the Saudi's can give us a bit of cash for Dubravka and he has been keen to go there in the past. These may all be quite ambitious fees but as you say, I did not expect to get c.£20m for Lloyd Kelly so you never know!

But even if we don't change from 4-3-3 Howe has switched around how we attack loads. Joelinton/Willock dovetailing for example. More bodies in midfield and attack will mean we can manage our minutes better. I don't think we have much issues creating chances when we're fit.

Pretty sure it’s only Villa struggling with PSR isn’t it ? I could see is trying for Ramsey or Onana from them.

When I've been considering taking advantage of teams in PSR trouble, I've spent as much time thinking about who we could fob off on them as who we could take. We have a lot of deadwood that would be lucky to bring in anything at all.

I can understand why too. Just for me Elanga shouldn’t even be an option unless we get someone like JP in there. Entirely different to me.

The only way we get more technical ability is if we shop abroad and are prepared to take a bit more of a risk their talent will translate to the PL. For the £40-50m (at least) we'd pay for Elanga, we could get the finished article abroad. I think the English PL tax alone must add about 20% to any fees. But I can understand why as a manager Eddie doesn't want to take chances.

Obviously. It’s more about the potential change in setup with someone centrally playing further up. Especially when said player has the attributes that Joao Pedro has. Makes a massive difference to me if it happens. There would be so much more playing depth and variety in our game with a player like him there.

I don't think we can sell the Greek keeper due to the PSR loss on his book value. All we can do is loan him out. We may have messed that one up, but a PSR high fee swapsies early in the window strikes me as an easy route to more headroom for squad building. We should keep an eye on Villa and see how their situation develops. If they get in a hole, offer a big fee for one of their players conditional on them taking Vlach for 15M or whatever his book value is. Pass the PSR parcel.
