Think Trent is a major issue in Europe and at the highest level in general. He’s a unique profile and talent.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

I'd almost be targeting a win and two draws at this point. That would make it incredible unlikely that Forest and Chelsea could both win enough games to overtake, given that they play each other and we would avoid defeat to Chelsea. I guess 69 is the magic number that means Villa definitely can't catch us, but they 'probably' won't win all 3 anyway. -
Not sure we are OK at GK. our players are literally scared to pass back to pope.
-
Those are the few. In the last 3 seasons they’ve only bought a handful of players for big fees and rarely in priority positions. Tchou and Bellingham have been the big signings. Guler, Endrick, Cama all opportunistic signings. Sold Benzema brought in Bellingham and Joselu. Lost Kroos, Nacho sign Mbappe and Endrick. I can’t remember the last 2 CBs they spent money on. Militao is one, who is the other? It’s been an odd approach to squad building for some time. It does feel like it’s time to spend some money on defence for once.

If every remaining game for the contenders finishes 0-0 we end up 4th and qualify. Unlikely, nay impossible, I know, but possibly the only remaining set of results which hasn't been mooted in this thread yet -
Iirc @The College Dropout said it was an odd signing given how little he’d played at his age.
-
Yeah, Leicester are the least athletic side in the league. Forrest will batter them with their physicality and speed.
-
A 4th CM would play a lot more minutes than a second striker. Easy choice for me.
-
Think TAA is a bit of a victim of this era of football. In the '90s he'd be playing Beckham's position in a 442 with a more out and out RB behind him, in modern football he doesn't have the profile to play in a midfield or front 3 so has to play RB and can get exposed defensively. Would personally have him as the 2nd best RB in PL history behind Walker who is imo absolutely miles ahead of everyone. Until he came along the RB in the all time XI stood out like a sore thumb, with Gary Neville being a shoo in despite, longevity and general reliability aside, was never a particularly outstanding footballer or defender.
-
Think we are ok at GK. If we sign a top RW we are ok at second striker too imo. RW and CM is the priority for me. CB and GK we need long term replacements that could up our level. At CM and RW we need another quality body just to maintain our quality over a season. Not that fussed for a second striker. If we sign a RW we have 5 quality options for 3 positions. At CM we have 3 quality options for 3 positions. That’s shit.
-
Not entirely true. How much did they pay for Bellingham and Tchouaméni? Just to name a few. They do spend big.
-
Alaba was not 34 when they signed him.
-
For me: RW > CB > GK > ST > CM > LB That's no a slight on Murphy, he's been excellent, but he's our only proper RW.
-
'Trent' comes across as an absolute dullard.
-
Didn’t stop them from getting Alaba.
-
34 in a few months. I guess that's why.
-
GK - - - - - - - - All the others That for me.
-
Think Colo could do a job there
-
Surprised they didn’t go all in on VVD then.
-
Mitchell will have to work Miracles to fill all the holes for next season
-
We all have our own view but my priorities would be RCB RW (preferably who can play up front too) CM GK .. Then some more defensive cover, someone who is versatile would be ideal.
-
Sign a new centre back and put Schar in defensive mid
-
I agree but at the same time, we probably can't bring in a CM without shifting one. I think shifting Longstaff will be easy, there will be a few lower PL sides will take him. I don't see us going with big bucks for a player like we did with Tonali though. I think we need to box smart.
-
Or RW, or GK, or lack of 2nd striker. There's a lot of work to do.
