I find it a bit mad, some of the apathy towards Elanga. If Kubo or Bakayoko played for Forest and Elanga's highlight reel was with Real Sociedad or PSV, we'd probably want him over the others.
-
Yep, it just gives us several options. Pedro can play wide if we need him, can come in for Isak when he needs a rest, without it making us much worse, and as you say it provides a potential new dynamic to our midfield.. especially for those games against the poorer sides that we struggle to put to bed. Just from a box ticking point of view it makes sense. Big Good pace Versatile Young Plenty of experience Plenty of potential He's also Brazilian and we know how good our Brazil boys will be in bringing him into the fold.
-
While I have my reservations, if we were to get Pedro one of the biggest - if not the biggest - incremental benefit of that is we can potentially better manage Joelinton and basically tell him he's going to play 35 games a season on Beast Mode. Rather that than him playing 35 games in total and being properly on it for 20-25 of those.
-
Can't see us getting both Pedro and Elanga. Pedro more flexible.
-
Could see us being happy to use the CL £50m for this year's amortised costs, and making a sale next year. Isak maybe signing with a release clause. Though I really hope not
-
Nothing to say Romano's tweet isn't just about Chelsea either.
-
I think it'll be both as opposed to one or the other. Pedro doesn't solve or issue on the right hand side by any means.
-
Considering kvaratskalia went for 60 million euros last summer the prices been quoted for players no way near as good as him shows how dear the English Market is.
-
The only thing with it is I genuinely think we basically did exactly this with Bruno and nobody bit, which led to the Gordon to Liverpool idea and ultimately the Anderson/Minteh escapade. It all worked out in the end but if clubs know you're relying on that sale then it reduces your bargaining power. The key is to have multiple potential sale options lined up.
-
I think it's years of Ashley's ownership leaving scars tbh. But you're right.
-
Aye... very wierd that wilson and ruddy are getting extended... kind of deja vu as per the Dummet and Ritchie saga
-
£60m for Pedro is preferable to £50m for Elanga imo. Can play a number of roles.
-
Pedro + Elanga + Trafford + Thiaw before jetting off to Japan please. One big sale to mitigate any PSR nonsense.
-
Won’t be here as a back-up to Isak. That is an option he offers (which we badly need) but also can play as a wide forward and behind a centre forward. Gives us flexibility tactically and depth in personnel. Has demonstrated consistently he can score and create in the premier league. To my mind it’s a pretty safe buy.

Newcastle fans: Sign some players damn you. *Newcastle start to make some moves* Newcastle fans: Woah there, you aren't planning on selling someone are you? Can you cunts not enjoy anything at all. Perhaps we are, you know, trying to improve the squad for next season.

Wow this is gonna get expensive like if it happens…. This I’m 100% behind though. Obviously different positions but I’m all for this, while the opposite for Elanga for the prices mentioned. At least with Pedro there’s genuine quality there and a massive ceiling potentially as well. He has a lot in his locker. Would be a fantastic signing. I can see him going up a level or two quite quickly. As well as making us less vulnerable when Isak gets injured or rested. Versatility is key here. Can see us playing Tonali and Bruno in a double pivot with Pedro in front of them. Love the idea of Bruno and Tonali threading progressive quick passes through the centre to him without Isak having to come too deep.
-
I don't even want to contemplate this, although I think your right.
-
Then sign Guehi on a free next year
-
Would cost Liverpool the best part of £300m for Wirtz, Kerkez, Frimpong & Gordon, I dare say I can’t see that happening.
-
I would go for Guehi and if they knock us back just steal their replacement they have been after...Diomande

Agree with your first point to be fair, but it's not necessarily the goals scored column I'm bothered about. From what I saw, our wingers would more often than not give the ball away, leading to those counters you talk of. Possession was often won and recycled to them only for them to lose it a bit too comfortably leaving us prone to counter and/or losing territory. Also, I don't think many teams pressed us that high too often, it was in the centre of the field vs Bournemouth and West Ham was pure low block and counter, so I don't think having quick wingers negates that too much as it was very much possession lost further up the field that led to those breaks. My view is having better players who are more press proof and who play the intelligent pass will make more of a difference to our game by virtue of the fact they retain possession better in the final third, thus improving on those aforementioned stats.
