Probably an oversimplification but Howe likes to have these young lads in and around the first team for a season before they are put in situations where there are tangible things at risk. Feels like he’s sort of done that with Miley this year as was pretty much forced to put him in during 23/24. Hopefully we will see a lot more of him this year.
-
Yes but he takes ages doing it. Miley has been on the outer fringe for two seasons now, I can see why he's getting frustrated.
-
Why were the away fans locked out for this game? Incredible work in midfield from Beardsley with him on the deck surrounded just before the equalizer
-
Sell and buy back makes no sense. Once you buy back you have to amortise the fee you pay, you no longer have the benefit of the academy sale.
-
Stockpiling ahead of a transfer ban ?
-
People just need to be patient with Miley. We’ve got arguably the best manager going for developing elite young talent. He knows what he’s doing.
-
Probably because most from the academy are barely National League standard. Anderson had loads of chances and Miley played shitloads last season. Hall is first choice LB.
-
So a slack £360m spent by Man City in just over five months!
-
We should never loan anyone to Boro, especially young players. Not worth the abuse they would get off the local mutants as soon as they had a couple of indifferent games.
-
I think what's likely frustrated them is that when Joelinton got injured and Willock was playing so poorly, that he didn't get more of a chance to step in then. I think that's somewhat understandable actually, when I think about it.
-
I’d sign Hackney and send Miley to Boro on a season-long loan, if they get a suitable manager in.
-
I think Miley's career here depends entirely on him having a single 3-4 game spell where he's the standout player - as a replacement for Joelinton in the starting line up and nails a starting place as a result; glimpses from a 15-20 minute cameo will.never be enough. He will never usurp Bruno or Sandro in the line up, so unless he's able to show it next year, then I just can't see another 2-3 windows where that midfield is not strengthened to the point that his path to the first team doesn't becomes permanently blocked thereafter. Can I see him being able to replicate or improve on what Joelinton offers on the pitch? Can I see Howe rating him higher than Joelinton at some point next year? No, but extremely happy to be proven wrong.

True but Dubravka isn't bad with his feet either, but as we've seen from his stints in the team, we need defenders who can cope with a press too. That is more urgent than a keeper IMO.
-
We’ve seen it with Dubs - it’s great. Also seen Dubs struggle with crosses coming into the box.
-
I really like Pope, but accept he's near broken and we can't be relying on him for a full season. All good being there 15 good games, but then if he's injured again which it'll be likely, it's Dubs. We've had the best out of him, got 2 UCL seasons and a cup. Forever thankful, but it's time to move on whilst opportunity for long term GK and a position sorted for next 7 years.
-
Do an Aston Villa - sell with a buy back. Better to sell to the Champ so he gets more minutes.
-
Right, that’s going somewhere in every holiday photo I take this summer.
-
Neither will Delap at Chelsea. The added thing at us, there was a genuine chance he could play with Isak in games, at Chelsea it's one or the other under Maresca. Edit: Delap will be moving on in 12 months anyway, and that's the annoying part for me.
-
Class. Someone get him cut out and turned into a png.
-
What a wild photo
-
Players make poor decisions following them being pushed by their agents, they don't look outside the box and give a season or so will twigg "I've cocked up coming here", opportunity for others to grab.
-
Yeah, and he was getting decent exposure and time for his age. The injury was what slowed that, and he just needs to get back up to speed, and keep working on himself physically.
