There's no point even judging it at this stage as the team at present is going to be nothing like the one that starts the season in 6 weeks time. We need to recruit incredibly well to even have a sniff, The window so far however is showing promising signs.
-
Have we? How do you mean, by turning down people who wanted to sponsor us?
-
A keeper, a CB and a RW to actually challenge and by challenge I mean be within 10 points. But depth is just as important as those 3, and without it you wont come close especially with the CL schedule now. Isak being somewhat regularly unavailable is a big hit to those aspirations as well. We are at least 3/4 seasons away from a squad with the ability to do that.
-
Because of price, and our tight budget. Honestly the stats you put out here doesn't actually scream of a great signing at £40m? Not sure what you mean. The other signings were obviously better, but Barnes is okay. Not saying it was a bad signing by any means, everything doesn't have to be either great or bad.
-
Ah sorry, didn't quite read your post clearly!
-
You are a sunderland fan who has made over 300 posts on a Newcastle United forum. I wonder what your mates on rtg think of you ? I'm slightly worried for you.
-
Citation needed. We have left a lot of sponsorship money on the table regardless of APT.
-
Do you know anything about this Romulo that Fulham are looking at? These smaller clubs have to be creative when it comes to signings, if they have good scouts we are in a position to blow them out of the water same way Chelsea are doing with our first choice targets.
-
Yep, that's what I was hinting at in my post, right? Without APT, we'd have better sponsorships, which means more money, and we'd be further along than we are now.
-
Honest question, what do you think of your chances of staying up next season? Do you feel like your squad is anywhere near?
-
I think we probably need almost half a new first team to challenge for the PL. Keeper, CB, RW and probably CM. Maybe others. That's keeping everyone fit as well, without considering squad depth too much. We probably need another 3 or 4 quality subs as well.
-
I think 4-7th was always within regular reach with owners who cared. But regularly challenging for the PL a stones throw away? We're at least £100m short on income and £50m short on player salaries for that.

The Airport Mags thread is absolute gold - hundreds of posts of pure jealousy that our fans love our club more than their fans love theirs ❤️

Guehi's not necessarily as good as VDV, not many people are. But I definitely think he's good enough to form part of a title-winning defence.

James "Shagger" Trafford: Transfer from Burnley "pretty much done" (Edwards)

Maybe I have just mixed with the decent ones who got out of it -
Ruxpin still waiting for that post. Yeah I post, but then again I'm not a coward and fuck off when things are going badly. You can't do that on your board though, as anyone calling out all the bullshit your lot make up, they're immediately banned. Cowards all round
-
I think like a sensible top club - they are doing the rebuild with key older players in situ. I don't think Bradley or Quansah are good enough to become VDV or Trent replacements. Neither is Guehi. Guehi is the Konate replacement. VDV replacement is to be determined. If there was a good fee out there for Joe Gomez, they would sell him imo. Liverpool's build is RM-like. Unless there's standouts, youth players are for squad roles. There's less "play through mistakes" squad development as a starter. You get minutes as a squad player. Or you go on loan/sold and try to come back as a starter. It's a shame the likes of Curtis Jones are getting England starts while being rotation players for Liverpool. Really good squad management from them unfortunately.
-
Predictions on the striker we look at next? I think we might bid for Rodrigo Muniz. Fulham have bid a decent amount on Romulo at Goztepe, another Brazilian striker, and are still negotiating. Was watching some clips of the Romulo guy yesterday as I'd never heard of him, and was quite surprised. Think he looks decent.

Brutey you have made over 150+ posts on the Sunderland thread alone, I'm slightly worried for you. Do you hate Sunderland more than you support Newcastle?
-
I stopped posting on the board quite a while back after defending our recruitment last summer, all of the replies just correlated to us being absolutely shite and how we would be lucky to stay up. I'm more than happy to hang around, have some crack and give opinions from my perspective, even more so now we are in the same league. It's pretty pointless though if there's not going to be any form of reasoned debate and all replies just compiled with innacurate nonsense.

Come on Ruxpin show me the post then. You're like a the other mackem cowards, fuck off crying when things aren't going your way. you will be going down challenging Derby's record, with your squad made up of Championship level players - you can quote me next year as I am actually saying that this time. Now you can cry off for a few months like the coward you are, actually make that a whole season as you won't be on when you're shit team are struggling at the bottom
