He's fielding three wide attacking players and I think the main puzzle is how they're all going to fit in. I can't envisage Gordon in midfield because he can't tackle. I'm assuming Murphy, as the best tackler of the three, will go into midfield. Barnes is a good athlete and I could imagine him as a wing back, but whether he's played there before I don't know. Maybe Schar will be pushed forward to do a job on Palmer, like he did against Arsenal with Rice.
-
They'll certainly need to be a bit more conservative going forward. Also will need Gordon and Barnes to tuck in some to help in there.
-
I just don't see Howe ever going for a 4-2-3-1. 5-2-3 or 3-4-3 (kind of the same those two) would at the very least be something that we have done before.
-
I'd like a long island iced tea and a Renault Turbo.
-
That's what I thought straight away but could be totally wrong. Gordon would arguably get through more work than him anyway and Gordon and Barnes doubling up on the left sounds unstoppable to me.

Highly doubt other teams are checking a newcastle forum for news Just stops any suspense and dread of who's playing, really -
I took advice from Rio Ferdinand, so when I get frustrated by the lack of signings, I take matters into my own hands.
-
If we can get some money sell. Hes a nice guy but he cant be trusted.
-
Yeah, could be BDB left back and Gordon as a 10?

I'd expect Burn and/or Botman to come forward to snuff out any danger early, especially aerial balls. Also I'd expect the wing backs and wingers to provide extra protection if and when they can to avoid the midfield pair getting outnumbered consistently. -
I thought he might go for Gordon in the willock role to limit totally changing everything around. That would have most playing in a position they're used to
-
Can’t be relied upon. Certainly on my list to sell. Sad to see but think this is a summer where we have to kick on and get in players who can contribute when we have 2 games a week.
-
genuine question why would a Newcastle fan leak our team the day before the game unless they wanted to be known as ITK? as if it gets picked up beyond here it could potentially benefit our opposition same goes for whoever leaked it yo you nobody should be leaking anything our side imo

I expect us to play this formation away at Arsenal too. Let's hope it works! -
Everyone certainly got the memo about wearing black and white shirts. Let's hope they all bring their voice come kick off.

40 years since the Bradford City fire. Terrifying how quickly it spreads. And that poor cunt just walking along on fire R.I.P to the 56 that went out to watch the football and never came home.
-
Hearing rumors @Erikse has offered to cover everyone's tab so we can sign a defender. Here we go.

Yeah I think the time has come to sell him. Comes back from injury > few games to get up to speed, still underperforms > gets injured again

Need to win the midfield battle
-
Saka should leave Arsenal to win trophies tbh.
-
Big job on for Bruno and Tonali. Might be outnumbered 2-1 in there with the way they play.
-
Not good for PSR though.
-
Yeah, this is what I'm expecting. I mentioned last week, we may need Howe to go with a different tactical approach for this game to mitigate for Joelinton being out. Glad to see it looks like he has done. Gives me more hope.
-
It's hard to predict the formation. I think he'll go for a 3-5-2 with Tino and Barnes as wing backs, Murphy, Tonali and Bruno in midfield, Isak and Gordon up front. I could be completely wrong of course, but it's encouraging to see the old Eddie Howe grey matter in action. It's the latest in any number of games since Eddie arrived where I've looked at the opposition and thought that we're done for. Somehow, it doesn't turn out like that, and I think we'll win. I've learned my lesson.
