  1. Past hour
  2. Be great to get this over the line. Not sold on him personally but think it will do a lot for the feeling around the place to get a deal done.
  3. Apparently Chelsea are also looking at getting Kudus in too . I live in hope that at least one player rejects them, for the love of God. If not, cool. Another clown for their circus.
  4. Old and expensive. We can't afford players of this profile sadly.
  5. Yeh. It’s the profile I liked most about Pedro. There’s no obvious backup in the league of that same profile. Might require 2 players or someone from left field.
  6. Kluivert would be my number one choice if he wasn't predominantly a left sided player. What about Ascensio? Proved he can do it on the premier league, one year left on his contract so probably available for a lowish price (helps with the inevitable high wages).

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Even though we have priority positions, I do feel like our strategy is more something like... "For the price, is this person a quality long term investment?" I don't think we have issues going foreign, but they need to be as guaranteed as possible for us to do it. It will be very much known European talent that other clubs like Chelsea have passed on for whatever reason.

Nowhere near 50/50. Their squad is poor. Just taking the play offs for example, in all 3 games they conceded chances that the other team didn’t take, and took their few chances. When they come across Premier League teams, those chances are not going to be missed. The domination they let the other team have with the ball is going to open up even more chances. The player who dragged them over the line in the semi-final scored an own goal, and gave away a penalty the last time he played against Premier League opposition. The guy who got them over the line in the final had already signed for Brighton. For them to stay up, it will take a Nottingham Forest like season run of over performing on XG for, and XG against. The only real Premier League team you could say that have a chance of going down is Wolves because they have lost their main man and don’t look like having the money to replace him. West Ham maybe shit, but they have the experience to know how to win shit mundane to see them to safety. There are question marks over Brentford with them losing their manager and best players, but they will no doubt already have a book of players who they can buy to bring in and replace them. By all means the manager they have now was brought in with taking the managers roles at some point in anyway, and if he doesn’t work out, no doubt they’ll move quickly to replace him with someone who will. On the face of it you could say that Everton having their players another year older would also put them into trouble, especially as some of them have already left the club. At the end of the day, how many teams do you think will drop down to that level where they are in a relegation battle? 1, maybe 2? Are Sunderland then in a better position to overtake them as well as Leeds, and Burnley?
  9. Decent shout, looking at another massive fee considering Bournemouth don't need to sell.
  10. Will getting played like a piano again. Give up the ITK gig son.
  11. No string links to Grealish and Rice. Elanga, Trafford, Guehi, Mbeumo, Joao Pedro, Delap, Cunha. These have all been strongly linked. Some of the most reputable journalists on the planet have reported bids for most of these. Not landing any of them so far - isn’t a great look. You won’t land all your targets and there’s reasons for everything. I’ll add Kelly and Tosin. In the last 2 years I think those are all the players we’ve been linked too the strongest. We’ve landed 1 of them so far. again there are reasons for everything. In 2+ years we’ve landed 1 first team target. Take a step back. That’s not a great endorsement of the entire management of the club top to just before Howe. Add to that no concrete news on stadium or training ground. No point spending more time this Sunday morning on this. We have different views on business, PIF and everything. Enjoy the day pal.
  12. Might require two separate players instead. Or a CM and a right winger who can cover up top.

Totally agree. We also tend to sign better players than we are linked with. I remember a time when most of us would have taken Lingard and Tarkowski.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Don’t get me wrong, I think he did a very good job last season, but it wasn’t miraculous. We have a midfield of Italian and Brazilian internationals, the starting RW for England, one of the best young strikers in the world, two of the brightest young full backs in the league, a La Liga winner, settled CBs and a few other players who aren’t too shabby. We really should be finishing above Forest, Brighton and the others chasing Europe regardless. We did very well, but it wasn’t a miracle.
  15. Why are you pinning that on Staveley when Darren Eales was CEO from July 22 and from what we know PIF had final sign-off on all big financial decisions? Staveley probably had to leave because of her own finances rather than the club's.
  16. Assuming we are looking at similar profiles to Pedro, Cunha etc, any suggestions on who/where we go next? Pretty unique profile so struggling with any names.
  17. I swear some people would be happier now if we’d signed a couple of players in this window not capable of holding down a first team place, now or in the future. Our strategy on transfers is quality, not quantity and it has clearly been working. Because of PSR we cannot afford to make one mistake in signing a wrong (expensive) player, whereas the likes of ManU can, repeatedly, and still beat us to signings because they can pay more. It’s very unfair but that’s the way it is. NUFC needs to be smart in the transfer market and we are.
  18. Bit surprised there haven't been more talk of Justin Kluivert, with the Bournemouth-Howe connection and NUFC connection through his dad. Reportedly valued at 30-35m Euros. Can play as forward and on both wings. Leverkusen "preparing a bid" apparently.
  19. The new CEO appointment will have more of an impact on out approach to PSR as much as anything. Eales clearly prefers to play things safe.
  20. Maybe on paper but in reality no. The contest is we also won a cup. The atmosphere in the club was terrible and that does matter. And we have a thin, ageing squad that we couldn’t improve. That means having to take the same squad and come up with new winning tactics where most other clubs are able to evolve. In the context it was A1 managing.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I'd say Miracle is the wrong word. Eddie Howe is an outstanding coach, so its not "Miracle" he took us back into the CL and won a trophy. The year previous was the outlier because we had terrible injuries.
  22. SUPERTOON

    João Pedro

Aye, tbf just realised he came from PSG didn't he? He would have been on a high wage there and wouldn't have taken much of a cut.
