It was Barcelona and Real Madrid walloping teams and having head-to-heads to decide things back in the 80s nevermind 7years and its still the same now with no end in sight and all that time everyone knew that was going to be the case. Atletico break it up now and then (allowing for the two freak Valencia, Deportivo seasons). (Real Madrid and Barcelona won the title a bunch of times in a row. Unless you mean La Liga as opposed to the Primiera Division which I guess it was called back then.) Its not been like that in England. If it was I doubt the PL would be what it is.

Have to admit last year I was one of those droning on about not playing him left back. I don't think I was criticizing Burn personally, more Eddie for not recognising that it was a massive weakness for us and whilst long term he has probably been proven right not to have thrown Hall in the deep end. Clearly this year we can see the difference it's made slotting Burn into his more natural position and bringing in Hall as the starting left back. Wouldn't begrudge calls for him winning player of the year, just out of pure consistency every game this year, necessity to hold the defense together along with Schar in the wake of Botman and Lascelles injury problems and ofcourse that cup final performance. Whilst Isak and Tonali are our most talented players, there is something to be said for the likes of Burn and Murphy who have maximised their output this year despite maybe having a lower ceiling in terms of outright talent.

Pretty much every league has only 2-4 teams with a realistic chance of winning the league. Some countries have just one team who win everything all the time bar the odd freak season, PSG, Bayern, Celtic spring to mind. We as Newcastle fans have spent enough time in the doldrums to understand that there's more to football and following your team than who wins the league at the end of the season.

Just finished watching the reply on CBS. Great game, the usual back and forth. Seemed to me Sunderland bottled it until the 122 minute goal. Hats off to Coventry who fought like crazy. Sunderland fans were the epitome of destroyed emotionally when Coventry took the lead.

I know in isolation they are all winnable games for our opponents, but to expect City, Chelsea, Villa and Forest to do as well as they all can from their remaining games isn’t as much of a ‘done deal’ as it seems. I bet if you were to do an acca for 2 city wins, 2 villa wins, a win each for Chelsea and forest, and whatever you want from the Chelsea/forest game, it would be at least 15/1. how many 15/1 bets are classed as bankers? Point is that whilst it will be twitchy until the end, we will probably end up with CL even if we don’t get 3 points from here on in. We only need 3 to guarantee it, so I’m sure 2 draws would be enough.

I wouldn’t defend the premier league either, it’s rancid. Barca and Madrid could win 45 out of the next 50 titles and no one would be surprised, I think if I was Spanish I would’ve turned off by now.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the moment it happened he should have been subbed off. Especially as they were chasing a goal and even if he was fine it was going to take him a good few minutes atleast to shake off the impact. But with hindsight it's even more damning of the medical staff to have allowed him to carry on.

Deniz Mehmet at Dunfermline is one of the best keepers in Scotland and only has a year left on his contract. I'd suggest snapping him up now,or a straight swap with Dubravka or Pope. Don't miss out on this bargain.
-
Anyways Awoniyi has been put into a medical coma. Rumours he’s had a ruptured spleen or intestine.
-
Pl has had 2 winners over the last what, 7 years? 5 to City the other 2 to Liverpool. The times Liverpool have won it, there wasn’t even a title race. Every close title race ends with Cty winning, if there is a close title race. Only Serie A has different winners. Atleast La Liga bounces between 2 clubs regularly. Madrid never defend a La Liga. Been a while since Barca defended it. And Atletico have won it twice. Financial rules have killed European leagues.
-
Now I didn't watch or follow the games but by accounts it was a Coventry error late in the first game and this game was seconds away from the lottery of a penalty shoot-out after Coventry were on top for most of it. That's not getting tactics spot on by any measure. Nobody plans to sail that close to the wind against a team they were favourites to beat.

First Italian match I watched was Inter v Sampdoria in 90/91 and became a Samp fan for a while (had the shirts, Mancini fav player, watched the matches on Sky) in the midst of it, they went on to win the league later that season. Same thing happened with Rangers (liked Gary Stevens, dad worked in Glasgow) and they went on to win the league, and the next eight, later that season. Had the midas touch except where it mattered, with us, where I experienced first hand instead of vicariously probably our worst ever era How the worm turns. In a parallel universe someone in Portafino or Glasgow might be doing that with us. Its not unheard of unless they mean specific to Sampdoria. Napoli's fall from grace was a lot faster than that, having win the title a year before Samp. Must be cos they'll know Genoa have been down there too (and are more decorated)

Either outcome is hilarious tbh. They get pumped yet again at Wemboaah Or They come up and get pumped week in-week out.
-
If sunland do get to the premier league..so what ! Newcastle United won the league Cup this season. That's all that matters to me. It's been the best season being a NUFC fan EVER ! and if they do come up, we will beat them comfortably home and away next season, nowt these jealous SMBs do can upset me anymore.

Can't see Spurs beating Man U in the final. Man u atleast have Amad, Bruno and to a lesser extent Garnacho that carry some threat. Spurs just look blunt at the moment and are missing their creative players like Maddison, Son, Kulusevski, Bergval. Not to mention the would probably bottle it anyways even if full strength.
-
I can only see Forest beating Chelsea if they've got the win against West Ham.
-
It’s a dead league. Really they need the ESL to happen and for PSG to fuck off. Germany and Spain need similar. This continent is full of dead leagues, I sometimes wonder how they maintain interest.
-
Am I the only one thinking Eze wouldn't really fit in here? Nothing to do with where he plays or his style just that I don't feel he's radgie enough. Every time I see him score he's just stood there doing nothing.
-
I remember that, it was the same thing Caiceido had done about 10 times without getting booked and Schar got it on the very first foul. Ref wasn't great in general but he started giving them absolutely everything after the red card. Hate when ref's feel the need to do that.
-
Ruptured his intestine. And all cos of a stupid fucking rule. Was always gonna happen, surprised it's taken this long.
-
Frimpong always seemed tailor made for the prem. Never used to bother me the signings Liverpool or City made, but now that we are edging closer to both I am starting to grow frustrated when they do good business.

It’s a stretch to say they barely had a shot. They hit the post in each of the semis at 0-0. Havertz missed a sitter in the first semi. All games have been close - we’ve deservedly won each, but this is a very difficult fixture. Winnable, but very difficult. -
