  1. Thought he was off the booze now, that was how he looked and sounded after he came out of rehab and was on Sky News
  2. just to pour some cold piss on this carroll scored 2 goals in the reserves and shearer played shola instead of him next game edgar got a game through injury only as far as i can see and carroll came on against stoke 'cause shola was on the brink of being arrested he was so bad what i want to see is shearer recognise that duff, smith, butt & shola are simply f***ing terrible and THEY are the ones who should only be played as a last resort - a great manager will find a solution, i hope he can 'cause i've said all along if our future remains in the hands of said "established" players we'll go down and i stand by that does anyone truly believe shearer will take owen off and give ranger a run out 'cause he's performing in the reserves? i'm so sick of reactive management at NUFC - it's time for some proactivity man ffs instead of giving the first teamers a "red hot poker" by threatening their place take the f***ing place from them first and make them fight for it, alls half of them care about is money anyways so maybe they'd make an effort if appearance fees came under question play the bairns man If this was two months ago I'd agree with you 100% but you have to factor in the situation we are in. Not many people would chuck a bunch of kids into a relegation battle where one bad result could be a disaster. Shearer might be playing youngsters because he's got no choice but I get the impression both he and Dowie are very keen on pushing the development of the kids much quicker than previously. nah, just not buying it Tron - he's supposed to have been watching us all season then why are shola and duff anywhere near the team? i'll reiterate, a great manager would find a way to make things work; no-one is saying replace the whole team with bairns but you root out the problem areas and and identify your flaws then weed them out, that's what a manager is paid for he's had options for change since arriving in my opinion, he just hasn't exercised those options yet I've been watching is all season but I'd have Duff in now, the only strange one was Shola over Carroll but I think that will change now. He might have been going for experience for that game against strong players. Carroll if on from the start and after getting kicked from pillar to post might have lashed out then we'd be stuffed.
  3. Prediction League has been updated again after the weekends results, I've also sorted out the changes due to Sky/Setanta.
  4. If it is a real injury I really hope he gets well soon because I think going back to the 4-3-3 formation will really help the team and I can see it working well. I can understand that he couldn't play that formation with two big guys upfront on their own and Owen just behind them so unfortunately it meant we had to have that horrible formation we had yesterday which the players had no midweek practice in. Fingers crossed Martins missing the game will mean he's fit for next week and we can have Martins and Carrol up front with Owen just behind them.
  5. If you've not got your predictions in yet don't forget to do it before the match.
  6. Just another reminder for this if you havn't done your prediction for Saturday
  7. Lets be honest here Shearer isn't daft. He knows that if he does well the board will want to keep him as they won't want the same reaction as when KK left. Because of that he knows he can basically ask for anything in terms for transfer funds, wages etc.

    Wise Gone

Thought it was stuck in the mud or something, no idea really
  9. To be honest since the majority of managers are ex footballers at one level or another and that is proof that to be a good manager you need to have played football. If you have a good footballing brain thats another step towards being a good manager. I believe Shearer has both of these the final thing he would need is time. This is the problem with most manager who are great players and try to be managers, they just don't get the time.
  10. There needs to be complete faith from the hierarchy in a Newcastle manager for the long haul for the first time in a while; not just seeing how they do at first. If the board, or whoever Shearer's superiors will be, can keep their minds focussed on a long-term strategy, then he may have a chance even if things don't go as well as expected. Re: Moyes, it should be pointed out he had been at Preston for a fairly long spell previously, so had a solid managerial background behind him. Hopefully Shearer learns fast. We all know he's going to have a certain level of leadership & previous managers who have worked with him have come out and said he's always had a great leading influence on players. So he has half of what it takes to be a class manager already, tactics is what he'll need help with id assume & he's certainly been analyzing enough football recently, now he's got Dowie to help him out further. Hes worked under the likes of Robson etc so he'll have picked things up along the way. We certainly need to start showing faith in our managers, we may never get another manager we all are behind this much ever again. Just that level of positivity will give just as much a lift and help us do well, as all the confusing nonsensical bs had brought us down. Just hope everyone stays level headed regardless, we're all far to ready to find a scapegoat as soon as possible half the time. An inexperienced Shearer will no doubt take that place for a lot of ppl, regardless of whether HEs doing much wrong or right. Do you think though that due to the frequency of managers coming and going in the past decade or so, a lot of fans already have an in-built sense of impatience? I'd like to think such an iconic club hero as Shearer wouldn't be turned on as soon as the going gets tough, but I wouldn't put it past some people. At the same time, if he does go on to be manager next season, I don't think he should be immune to criticism. He'll have had the 8 games this season, as well as a wealth of experience on the pitch, and the knowledge of a fairly experienced No.2 and of course SBR in his portfolio. Hopefully whilst he should be given a fair chance in the long-term, his legendary status at the club wouldn't blind people. Put it this way, some fans were getting on KK back at the start of his last reign because he didn't turn things round straight away and it took a while and a change to the 4-3-3 system before things started to pick up.
  11. In my eyes it's time to stop all the chopping and changing. If we lose 10 on the bounce stick with him, Everton did with Moyes when they went from top 7 to almost relegation. They are now having yet another cracking season but it's took leaving him at the helm for 7 years to get them to where they are at and that's with no cash at all. IF Shearer is the man for the job then sod this temp contract till end of the season. Give him the job full time and keep him in there for a good number of years. Hell you never know it might just work leaving him in charge for a while!
  12. Not that I care but he wore a suit when he was in the dugout with Roeder so I'm guessing that's the way he'll go.
  13. Depends on the cash I guess
  14. Probably shrugged your shoulders and said, well it sounds like Newcastle
  15. I'm sure Shearer will pick up a few million should we stay up. So a few million for 8 matches, it's all about the love lol
  16. Yep, when you login the first page you see should be your prediction for the match. Just change it and press submit.
  17. Probably wait till they announce Shearer then they will announce the shirt and a special price with Shearer on the back
  18. Just a reminder to get your predictions in for this weekends game especially after all the changes that have gone on today
  19. Children, children. Back on topic please. No more hidden links thanks ever so much.
  20. Does he match Diouf if he asked for aid in court to pay for it

  23. He did chief scout role at Arsenal for a while, that may well be his role. That's of course if he leaves and Shearer takes over next season not of which is happening as of yet.
