I've not seen enough of Sels, but Elliot and Darlow? Come on, man. He's in another league to both. The Krul of a few years ago was, yeah, without question. He's gone backwards massively since though imo and I can't see that much of a difference tbh. Not quite sure which Tim Krul people are harking back to sometimes. The one who's get serious deficiencies but is still easily a PL goalkeeper. Elliot isn't and Darlow isn't yet. He's still the best keeper we have but I'll not lose any sleep about losing a keeper with serious deficiencies if it also gives the likes of Darlow experience to become better. Darlow is only 2.5 years younger than Krul and the same age as me. He is no child learning the game. He is a fully developed adult who been around a fair bit and experienced the English game for many years now without ever standing out in the way Krul had done by the same age. There is just no evidence he has anywhere near the same talent. Rob Elliot showed significantly more than him last season. I will essentially be shut out from watching matches until we (lord-willing) procure promotion once more, so I have no idea of Sels' ability. Agree with most of that, I just think the Krul of 2012 isn't here anymore. Losing the Krul of 2016 isn't that much of a blow.

Aye, this. Even having the threat of pinging one in from 30 yards breaking into the final third is a plus. If defenders know he's got that ability to do that then he'll need to be closed down quicker which means a bit more space for Perez, Gayle or even Mitrovic. We're going to have to break down a lot of compact teams that sit deep and tight and little things like that could be the difference between a win and a draw a few times this season.

He's fucked his right ankle, hopefully it's only a sprain or something but he couldn't put any weight on it and it looked sore. Or he's just from planet soft-cunt.

Gap year for Krul then. He's our best keeper but not by much, remember only too well how his form dipped massively after the 5th season, not the only one and there were obvious reasons for it but he's been bang average for the last 3 years imo. Better than Elliot, Darlow and Sels? Yeah, but there's not that much in it.

2 Newcastle teams out there tonight, the one that looked dull and pedestrian whilst looking for the opening goal and the one with a bit of confidence and sharpness once we had the cushion. Pretty obvious when you think about it but the difference was stark. Still look cautious and a bit brittle at times though. Comfortable, never really under any pressure and should have had at least another 3. Liked the look of Diame, Hanley, Sterry and Gayle. Colback still looks fucking atrocious and Shelvey didn't look too sharp but at least he tried to make things happen. Perez drifted in and out of the game but took his first really well, should have had 3 on the night though. Mitrovic looked busy and will give us something extra, Gamez was ok.

This is wank. Flat as fuck.

Fucked right ankle by the looks of it.

Have to agree here like. It's very tiring reading constant complaining about every signing before it happens. This. Howay man. Yes, we will see how he does, yada yada yada, but this is a forum ffs, we're here to discuss what we do (or do not) know. People writing this lad off when they've only seen a few performances from him in a w*** mackems team, I'm all up for a debate but lets just try to keep it reasonable. Hanley, Clark, Judge & Yedlin have all been written off by people on here who claim to have watched every football match ever in the world, when in reality they have very little knowledge of those players and should wait until they play a few games for us. Janmaat was absolutely dogshit for us for a good period of time and we currently have Anita playing RB, don't see how this cannot be positive for us. I've got nothing else to use to form an opinion of him though. He looked average or poor each time I saw him last season, hopefully he signs and he's quality but at the minute it doesn't strike me as any sort of upgrade, maybe about like for like. His pace and energy would be of great use to us but he's going to have to defend well too.
-
Swapping one average/limited RB for another tbh.
-
We'll never see him again and I couldn't give too much of a fuck tbh. Seems like a decent enough bloke but he's of no use to us whatsoever and has contributed fuck all. No hard feelings, best of luck, off you fuck.

Would like to see a strongish XI named but realistically the Brighton game on Saturday is far more important in the grand scheme of things, win that one and we're flying. Just happy to look forward to watching us in the flesh again.

Mitrovic and Perez need at least an hour. I'd start Sels and Shelvey too.

How much is it? 325. Right, would you take 324?

Taking the boy to this, middle of the Gallowgate. Better fucking win.

Birtles is incandescent.

Seville 2-3 Espanyol and not even ht. Ridiculous.
-
He's a finisher, needed a goal to get him going but he's up and running now. If we continue to provide him chances then he'll get at least 25 barring injury. Once Mitrovic is available again I'd expect him to drop into the 3 behind him and have a bit more time and space, look for knock-downs and flick-ons and we'll look better as a team imo.
-
They're going to win the league by at least ten points and you can quote me on that. They've bought really well, spent a load but you've still got to buy well and they have. The entire spine of the team is stronger and I'd expect them to challenge at the top all season. Not sure they'll walk the league but they'll be there in May.

Bet he wants an extra 20k a week tomorrow morning during his contract negotiations.

Kaboul to Watford it seems.

Just need to be more aggressive and loose rather than disciplined and tight. Keeping the shape is excellent if you're under pressure and soaking it up but when you're making the running against teams happy to sit then you need bodies in the final third, movement, pace and a bit of invention. Benitez needs to cut the shackles a bit and let our good players play with a bit of freedom. Lascelles and Mbemba shouldn't need 2 sitting in front of them protecting them, get after teams and cause them problems. We had 4 shots on target at home to Huddersfield. Its got to change, teams are happy to sit and wait and take advantage of our inevitable mistake.
