Struggling to see the obsession of some of just existing in the PL. Making up the numbers and providing slight opposition for the good teams who have ambitions to win the damn thing. Purely from a fan's point of view being in the PL is shite unless you support all but 3 or 4 clubs, the only upside I can see is that you get to see good opposition players in the flesh. Can't understand how any Newcastle fan could look back on the last 5 or 6 seasons with any fondness. We've had the odd notable scalp and the odd really good performance and/or result but it's been pretty grim when viewed as a whole. Losses have long ceased to hurt due to the regularity with which they occur, draws fail to initiate any emotion of any kind and wins barely seem worth celebrating as they just help to perpetuate to situation. Relegation shouldn't be championed necessarily, it's still a massive stigma, but I know surviving another year will change nothing. The same problems that have been here for years will still be there. The money will keep rolling in and the club will continue to be neglected by Ashley. It'll be a case of "as you were lads" and "same again please" if we somehow squeak a win from somewhere and 'survive', that's all it is - survival, we're not going anywhere, we're just hanging around. Relegation would certainly change things, maybe for the worse initially granted, but it would force the club to be run differently. How they'd cope, what they'd do I've got no idea but I'd far rather have my interest piqued by dropping than following this club as it's currently operating. In the words of Bob Dylan - "When you ain't got nothing, you've got nothing to lose". Fuck it, what's the worst that could happen?

If it happens then I'd like to think Ashley will eventually get bored/sick of having to deal with NUFC and just cut his losses (wishful thinking I know) so a spell out of the top-flight may make us enough of a ballache to take seriously. They're staring down the barrel atm and the thick fuckers have only just realised it. Eight off the bounce and NOW they start floundering about looking to spin it to the idiots. Knock the onus of responsibility back in the court of the fans, "get us out of this please because we've not got a fucking clue how to deal with this shit". It's pitiful, shameless and pathetic the lengths these cunts will go to to hide, deflect and distort things to absolve themselves of blame and responsibility. The alarm bells are deafening and they're like a drunk in the dark, fumbling around trying to turn them off but failing spectacularly. Their incompetence, arrogance and stubborn refusal to deal with the situation in January has caused this mess. If he's planning on taking the job regardless then I'd admire his bollocks if he took it now. He could leave it, wait for us to go down and plan a promotion push or he could take it now, back his ability to turn things around quickly and pick up 4 points which would mean he is managing a PL team from the off. It'll say a lot about McClaren's courage and self-belief as to what happens in the next month.

I thought it was a horrendous challenge all things considered. The location of the foul was the most telling for me, he's running full pelt and Williamson actually runs off the pitch and wipes out his legs from under him with no intention of playing the ball which is several yards off the pitch. Awful tackle and could easily have been a red. If it had happened in the centre circle it's an automatic booking but the fact it's happened where it did would suggest Williamson saw a bit of red mist and possibly wanted to do a bit of damage.

Yep Carver and crew are on peanuts, it won't cost much at all to get rid of them. I think it's gone way beyond "he won't pay them off because it'll cost him loads" and it's now "he's got no choice but to make a change as it'll cost him circa £80m if he does nothing"
