Can't complain about that. Italy were much better on the night and deserve to carry on. Genuinely think we did our best but they were better. Good luck to them.

French team they always fight. Apart from World Wars.

Taarabt's more hassle than he's worth. He's got talent but don't think he'd fit in at all up here.

Didn't Ashley keep on raising Carroll's price when Liverpool were frothing all over him?

Agree with madras about walking away if they knock this one back (provided it's true obviously). They know it's £9.5m upfront straight away and if they think they can get a better deal for him then good luck to them. Just have to see how it all pans out.

Stopped posting on a City forum on the same date as he stopped on here iirc.

England are the Cliff Thorburn of International football.

It's not real btw.

It's not the worst negotiating tactic in the world tbh. It may be a bit on the low side but the selling club get it all upfront rather than trickling in bit by bit over a year or two. As long as we're prepared to increase it a bit to get him it's fine. There needs to be a bit of flexibility.

Better than I feared tbh. Looks decent with a sponsor/badges etc.

I'm almost certain we'd accept £18million. I'm almost certain we'd reject their first bid, regardless of the amount.

Have now basically switched off from any transfer talk, both in's and out's. There is so much bullshit being written on a daily basis that I've chosen not to believe any of it. If it happens then it happens, think we'll be ok on Sept 1st.

Best ever man. Unbelievable.

There's just no need to fuck about with stripes. Why have fucking spikes coming off them? What purpose do they serve? It's shit and ridiculous. People will buy it out of a misguided sense of loyalty but if that's the shirt then it's a (another) shit one. Each to their own and good on the people who fork out 40 notes for it but, fuck me it's poor.

So why did you leave? I've always said - always - that I'm not the type to chase money. That wasn't a factor in my decision. I've always outlined that I have a career plan, and Liverpool is my next step in that. They're a step to the overall goal. What is the overall goal? If I told you that I'd have to kill you! No, really, it's no secret. I want to win things. I suppose every manager does. I believe I can do that with Liverpool, or at least give myself the platform to show that I'm capable of doing that. That's the thing, even just being at a club like Liverpool gives you the platform to show what you can do. You have greater exposure. It puts you in the shop window so to speak, rather than in the warehouse. What attracted you to Liverpool? It's the shop window, as I said. When I was with Watford I was the same manager I was with Swansea. Maybe a few less wrinkles! Being at Swansea - in the Premier League - was a platform. Being at Liverpool is an even bigger platform. They're a great, historical club. What do you think you're capable of achieving with Liverpool? I think I'm capable of giving the team a defined style of play, that they've lacked for a couple of years really. You look at teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham even Stoke, Swansea - you know how they play, and more importantly they know how they play. I don't know what's gone on before I came here, but it's football management at it's most basic. That will be the first thing I look to implement. What players are you looking forward to working with? All of them. I know that sounds like a cop out answer, but it's true. There's a danger when you start elevating one player's importance above the others. You've seen that in the England National team and you even saw that at Liverpool last year, which I won't get into. From Brendan's latest interview. [/steppingstone]

Agree. Pardew has spoken about the importance of having an affinity with the place. That quote makes Douglas sound like a prick tbh You're all being very sensitive if you ask me.. Any club that wants him will first need to do a deal with his club anyway, and it's pretty blatant that he's been asked about Newcastle United's well documented interest rather than mouthing of himself about it. If you asked some lass out and she said 'might do, think some much better looking bloke is interested so I will let you know yeah?' would you still be up for it? Once she's in the back of the van she's yours.
