Shush, he thinks I'm a genius.

could be difficult organising the voting rights with that one. I dont follow...seperate forum for each share obviously... i understand that, but it sounds complicated to administer. I think it's pretty easy actually. Just a case of ticking the right boxes on the permissions jobbie. ok i was thinking of the headache admin would have, forgot they had a numbers genius. Nah, just call each board Share 1, Share 2 etc and give each member of each share permission to post and vote in it.

I'd try to get more kids going to games. Whether through cheaper tickets or any other incentives. Seems bonkers that there are roughly 9000 empty seats for every home game when we could fill some of them with kids paying a tenner a pop to see the match.

First off, I've not got a spare £2500 (or anywhere near it tbh) to invest so I'm ruled out straight away. Secondly, it sounds like an excellent idea in theory. I've got some doubts as to whether or not enough cash can be raised to take over and keep things ticking along until the club begins to generate enough money to run itself properly though. The other query (my apologies if it's already been answered elsewhere) is that I can't really see the incentive to more affluent people investing more money if they still only get one vote. I've read that the 'one share=one vote' thing is fundamental to it going ahead but why should a rich bloke put in, say, £50k if it only gets him the same voting power as someone who only chips in £2500? I'm not trying to be negative and I hope things take off but I've got my doubts as to whether it'll actually come off. Credit to them for getting off their arses and attempting to do something positive to force some change.

Bit of a pisser for the lad. Very talented but always seemed to be either coming back from injury or was out with one.

How is he not worth £4m? What does that sort of money buy you when it comes to strikers anyhow? I would think mediocre teams that can't play football would pay that much just for his nuisance value. He might not be the most polished striker but he's big, strong and gives defenders a hard time. He scores the odd goal as well which isn't the worst quality in the world. Agree with all of that, provided he's playing at this level. If we go up and he plays regularly I don't think he'd be anywhere near as effective against PL defenders. How many PL strikers can you buy for £4m? Very few? That's my argument. I honestly don't think he's good enough for the PL so I don't think he's worth the £4m that's being bandied about for him. When you have teams likeBolton, Portsmouth, Stoke, Wolves, Burnley and West Ham in the Premiership I don't think you can claim they are too good to pay £4m for a big target man. I don't think they'd pay £4m for him because they already have better forwards than Carroll already on their books imo. Going round in circles here tbh. Like who? Elmander, Dindane, Beattie, Doyle, Nugent and Carlton Cole off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more too. Anyway, off to bed. Just for the record I'd keep him til we get promoted but he's not good enough for the PL. He might be in the future but I, personally, don't think he will be. We'll have to see I suppose.

If he adapts his game he could be a Crouch esq striker. He's quite tall. Comparison ends. His hold up play is decent as is Crouch's. Disagree. Can't fault his effort and enthusiasm but he's nowhere near the level of Crouch. And I genuinely don't think he ever will be unfortunately. We will agree to disagree then. Do you think he'll score regularly for England like Crouch has btw? If he's allowed to play against the same s*** teams then yes. I don't think Capello will allow him to play tbh. He's clearly being overlooked because he's playing in the CCC. It's a fix. Have you seen the teams Crouch has scored against? Carroll is 20 and has his whole career ahead of him, how you can say he won't make it this quick is quite baffling. I'm not saying he can't, I'm saying I don't think he'll ever come close to being as good as Crouch. I don't think he'll ever play for Liverpool. I don't think he'll ever get in the England squad, let alone play and score for them. I don't think anyone will ever pay £8m or £9m for him. He might........but I wouldn't put too much money on it.

It's a tough one. He's not worth £4m and I don't think we'll get a better offer for him but I wouldn't sell him just yet. He's the type of striker you need to get out of this league but he's of no use to us if we actually go up.

The patchy number nine - reflecting on Oba's time at Newcastle
midds replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Hmm dunno, his skill and technique much like his shooting was incredibly varied, times he would dribble really well and show great close control, other times it was like he'd never kicked a ball. Read the first sentence again. You said his skill level was minute. In hindsight maybe 'minute' was a little harsh. I'll change it to 'tiny'. -

Very limited and inconsistent player. Had shit service for much of the time here but was very unreliable. Not much of a team player and frequently fucked things up for us on the break. Astonished we got our money back for him because he's not a very good footballer to be honest. He'll score the odd fantastic goal but his skill level is minute. -
I'm willing to say now, that Everton won't win the league.
