  1. Can't ever remember Hoddle being superb for England tbh Really? Personally, I thought Hoddle was sheer class. Waddle played well for England a fair bit of the time although he wasnt always great. He was very goo indeed at Italia 90. Can't think of any game where Hoddle was particularly outstanding. Great club footballer as he proved at Tottenham and Monaco. He was constantly lampooned thoughout his England career though. Not what the thread said though was it? Best player in an England shirt, not England's best player. Hoddle was a superb player regardless of whether he did the business in an England shirt or not. Question of semantics tbh. Whichever way you take it he still isnt is he? He was a very very good club footballer but couldnt hack it at international level. Thus, he wasnt great by any stretch of the imagination. Exceptional footballers like Gazza, Lineker, Robson could do on it both stages. Whether they wore an England shirt or not. You interpret it how you like and I'll do the same. I think Hoddle was top drawer and if you agree then fair enough, if you don't fair enough. Don't care tbh. Gascoigne, Lineker and Robson were all fantastic but Hoddle stood out for me as one bloke who who had just about everything.

    Aye the lazy fuckers!
  5. Fuck me, that's a question and a half. Hoddle was superb, as was Robson. Notable mentions to Shearer, Gascoigne, Lineker and Butcher. Barnes and Waddle were too inconsistent.

You do know they were our players, don't you? This is just getting silly now...

My worry is that he's identified players for Bolton and is working on that list while at Newcastle, the Barton signing doesn't really prove anything either way as Anelka was on his list for Bolton when he had the money. I just wonder if we're shopping at Aldi when we should be shopping at M&S or Sainsbury's. I don't know the answer and look forward to see how things pan out over the summer, I hope we have a special player or two to come in, not just the bargain basement type of players usually associated with Allardyce. I suppose that will depend on the transfer budget as much as the manager, we'll know a bit more in 10 weeks or so. Aye, I see your point. I just think that he's got his head screwed on and knows a good player when he sees one. He does his homework and scouts him properly before making any moves to get him. I'm hoping that when Ashley gives him the green light, he'd switch his attention to a better class of player. I don't think he can do that just yet and is still in 'bargain mode'. Until things are rubber stamped, he can't go for the type of player we all want at the club.

I back all managers to start with but lets not get carried away with Sam's buying he has bought a hell of lot of dead wood at Bolton. Fair enough but this summer is different for him. At Bolton his budget for the summer was tiny and he was forced to work on a shoestring, bringing in Boman's and out-of-favour players on short term contracts. This summer he's got the cash to go out and get the players he's identified and actually wants, rather than taking chances. I know he's signed some dross but he's shifted them on pretty sharpish and it hasn't really cost Bolton financially. If he thinks that this lad will come in and do the business, I'll back him....and it's been quite a while since I've been able to write something like that.

As with the vast majority of decisions like this, I'm happy to trust Allardyce's judgement. If he thinks he's worth bringing in and can do a job for us then I'll go along with it. I didn't trust Roeder and Souness from the start to get the right players for the right price but this bloke is different. Back the manager.
  11. Think that's bang-on tbh.
  12. I cant really help the fact that another poster is stalking me now can i. You could always leave I could but im never going to do that (unless Dave decides to permanantly ban me that it) So, just for the record like, : £16m for Bent is acceptable, but £18m for Bent is taking the piss? Correct? Ive already explained it. Bent valuation is £13 mill so £16 mill is not to bad a deal imo. So paying £3m over the odds is ok but £5m is out of order? Fucking hell! The bloke isn't worth £9m , let alone £16m or £18m. Jesus Christ - kingdawson's caught eastendfever. Is that a distant relation to Saturday Night Fever? Only if the thick twat goes around in a ridiculous white suit with big collars...

  15. Losing Wenger would be a bigger gap to fill tbh.
  16. With the Henry transfer now looking like a certainty, things may be falling into place... It would explain a few things.
  17. They'll replace him and still finish top 4. >
  18. He'll do well at Barca. Good luck to the bloke. He owes Arsenal absolutely nothing imo. He's been awesome for them and they'll make a tidy profit despite his age.
  19. http://www.uksoccershop.com/images/invt/1353.jpg Coventry City. I quite like it personally but I'm in a tiny minority tbh.
  20. That's the thing that worries me though mate. Why just £3.5m? Smacks of Fergie cutting his losses - which sets alarm bells off for me! Where would he play? Do we need him? Didn't someone say he is going into the last year of his contract? That and him just coming back from injuries I doubt they could command much more. I wouldn't mind him as a 4th choice striker, doubt he would settle for that though. Ah right, that would explain the low fee! Can't see him settling for 4th in the pecking order up here either. Just seems like a strange move all round tbh. Can't see the logic in it for all concerned. Having said that, he's better than Ameobi like...

  22. If we were looking for a striker, Smith wouldn't be particularly high on the list. If we were looking for a midfielder, he wouldn't even be on the list. Ferguson letting him go for just £3.5m tells it's own story imo...
  23. Think I'll pop in to see Juve and if I've still got some pennies left over, I'll try to get to Sampdoria too.
  24. Why did they feel the need to reveal it bit by bit? It's the same colour for the entire kit. How excited did they expect everyone to get when the final part was revealed?
