I'm not having ago at the bloke but does anyone think Viduka would have signed for us if Roeder had still been in charge? We'll never know obviously but personally, I don't think he'd have even considered us as a realistic option.
-
Oh yes, I'll have a bit of this! Viduka signing is an excellent one - the fact we've just taken one of Boro's best players for free is just the icing on the cake. Bring it on.

Thought the loan deal with PSV had all been agreed??

So has the bloke signed yet or not?

Scored one of the best goals I've ever seen when he was playing for Real. He was bombing down the left and it looked for all the world like he was just going to whip a cross in just before he got to the by-line, but he just smashed it with the outside of his left foot and bent it between the keeper and the near post. He must have been about 30 yards from goal and about 5 yards from the corner flag. Awesome goal.

If it comes down to brass tacks, Allardyce will pick Owen over Martins every time. If one leaves this summer then there won't be problem but if Owen is fit - he'll start virtually every game. Martins will have to either like it or lump it.
-
you could say that about practically every English player signing for anyone this year, mind Fair comment. Then again the tabloids would be on O'Neill's back for packing his squad full of foreigners if he bought exclusively from overseas. Just have to look at the shit Arsenal and Chelsea have had to put up with for choosing talent before nationality...

London evening standard reckons West Ham offered the 70k per week whereas we offered 50k per week !
-
I'd be against signing him for £3m let alone £7m. Think that's way, way way over the top for him. Still, I suppose it's a sellers market and if they can get £7m for him then fair play to West Ham. Must be better players than him available on the continent for that much like??
-
To be fair Midds, I reckon whatever we were going to put on the table West Ham would better anyway. West Ham will offer players 10 grand more than other clubs because it's the only way they'll get them to sign. If it was all about money he could've kept on driving and used that as a bargaining tool for getting 80k a week off those animals. My take on it anyway. Quite possibly the way they're throwing money at players this summer tbh. Still think they pulled a fast one and used West Ham's interest to get a better deal for themselves. Not quite on a par with Seth Johnson signing for Leeds like but not far away like.

I reckon Barton and McKay went into SJP wanting £70k a week. Shepherd baulked and turned them down. Barton & agent left saying they were going to listen to West Ham under the guise of him 'considering Newcastle's offer'. Shepherd bottled it and offered them the £70k they wanted before they even got on the A19. Barton & co turn the 4x4 around and head back to SJP laughing their tits off. All hypothetical and I can't prove any of it. Just my cynical self reading between the lines.

West Ham if recent rumours are to be believed. blueyes.gif

He's never struck me as a full back at all. I very much doubt he's got the discipline to hold the line or do the nasty things that full backs HAVE to do. At home against shite is fair enough. Being pinned back by a decent left winger for 20 minutes away from home and I think he'd crumble. He'd be a stop-gap and I'd rather Allardyce buy a specialist RB than have this little fanny poncing about down the right.

Morals don't come into it anymore, if indeed, they ever did. Winning is the be-all and end-all. Points on the board and who the fuck cares how they're earned? Doesn't matter who scored the goals or how they were scored - a win's a win.
-
Wonder if he's got an autobiography in the pipeline? Arrogant twat.

Sven to City. Nailed on. His price is tumbling at the bookies as we speak type.

I think your missing the piont. Why should Fred put up his money when he is weeks away from being ousted all together, you have to remember this is a business and it makes no business sense for Fred to spend £5m when he is about to leave. It would be the equivalant of Branson buying a whole fleet of Boeing's for Virgin just before he is about to sell up. Fact is while he may have promised funds the situation has now changed and those funds are not available. We have to wait for the takeover to be completed before we can do any real spending. Excuse me? "His" money??

They looked a poor team towards the end of last season. They've since lost their manager and appointed an idiot. They've now signed Bramble and are looking at Sibierski. Can you see where I'm going with this?... I'd urge all Wigan fans to make the very most of their last season in the Premier League for a while.

...and up here tbh. The amount of kids wearing Chelsea tops is frightening. :-[ Aye there was quite a few knocking around today at the Masters, Geordies too. Any child from Newcastle wearing one of those, Liverpool, Man Utd, whatever, should be taken away by social services, their parents are not fit to raise them. FACT. Saw one family - two parents in black and white, the two kids in full mackem regalia. How the fuck does that happen? I'd disown the little bastards. On non-uniform days, you see as many Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal tops as you do Newcastle and Scumderland. Which is scandalous really. 2 big NE teams to follow every week and yet they choose one of the top 4. I can understand it in a way because kids want to support the best teams but fucking hell..... x100

Oh dear, that's gonna be everywhere down here. ...and up here tbh. The amount of kids wearing Chelsea tops is frightening. :-[

Read an ITK (a mate of 2 pools) on another forum saying that Taylor had been told he was first choice centre back next season and Dyer had been told he was playing Right Back (which he has done beofre for Ipswich, England and NUFC). Taylor starting and Dyer at right back ... 3-5-2 maybe? That way Sam can have his three man midfield, which he seems to prefer, as well a second striker to partner one of our dwarves. Do you think Dyer would be open to playing right-back though? I wonder what Sam sees in him to believe he would excel in this roll. Dyer is still the man with no position after all these years ... I wonder if he was receptive to the idea. His opinion shouldn't come into it. He does what he's fucking told to. Can't see him fronting up to Allardyce like he did to Robson, can you?

More money than sense! On KUMB, it's widely being mentioned that Bent was being offered £80k and they had given him the ultimatum of agreeeing terms in a week or they move on to AJ. If Bent does go to Spurs, the offer is £35k. Egghead has been jacking up the wages ever since he bought the bingo club, Calum Davenport was on £8k with Spurs, he's now on £33k!! As you say, utterly f****** mental. He's the Icelandic Peter Ridsdale, this mong. When they spunk an absolute fortune on players and eventually sack Curbishley for a foreigner on Sven-like wages and still aren't a Champions League club they will clear off leaving the club up shit creek. I can see it ending in tears for the cockney shits. They're obviously loaded at the minute but they're throwing money at the wrong players imo. It'll turn to shit in 2 years.
