Hit the nail on the head. I couldn't give a crap about prices, it's the quality of players we're (apparently) chasing. Gradually we're after poorer players and that's reason for concern in my book. Are we struggling to attract the players necessary to improve us? Is there no money in the kitty? Why are we looking at midtable players like Young and Queudrue? Young and Queudrue would be very much like the signings of Babayaro and Carr. Indeed. I've said this before and got attacked for it, but I'd like us to at least be linked with some younger players whose best days are in front of them, not behind them. Rather take the risk on them than extremely average players in their late 20s. To be fair though I'd rather we had a decent squad right now then we can bring in the "potential" players. Oh, agreed. I'd like us to finish getting a decent squad sorted first too, but at the same time I'd like us to bring in some "potential" players in the same way Liverpool do. Liverpool can attract these players due to: 1) Having a high quality squad 2) Having successive top 4 finishes 3) Always in europe with success. Something we lack atm. Eh? I'm was thinking more of all these young Hungarian/Bulgurian/Spanish/Italian etc etc teenagers. Not the likes of Babel, Torres etc. Liverpool perhaps weren't the best example and I suppose I'm being pretty unfair on Big Sam atm, but still. Just a link with 1 or 2 "potential" players would be nice, at some point during this window (not expecting them now). I knew what you meant Mel. Liverpool recently brought a clutch of about 6 young players to the club from here, there and everywhere. Chances are that they'll have a look at them and sell them on but there might just be a Fabregas or a Toure in amongst that lot. I think they're taking their lead from Wenger who's been doing this for a few years now and he's found some cracking players. I'd love us to do the same.

Surely Allardyce will want to protect the playing surface so we can play a slick, passing game next season?...

I strongly suggest you check your PM's red.

Chill, man. It's Friday night!

Southampton away I assume? Got an inate aversion to the colour red so, no. *Red numbers on the back of our tops are fine*

The football equivalent of turning up to a job interview pissed. Fuck it.

Can't pick out one in particular but, for different reasons, the following were superb buys: Beardsley, Shearer, Given, Lee, Gallacher & Solano,

Getting a bit a carried away. In our current team of the chaps who have come through the ranks where would you place him as it stands now. McGlen or Chopra? Chopra. Given a level playing field - if both started 38 games up front, I think Ameobi would get more than Chopra. Which is pretty damning imo. I think it came down to a straight choice of keeping Chopra or Ameobi and we chose the latter.

Wasn't a case of us sellin him though. He rejected the contract we offered him and went looking for regular football. That's because it was a one-year offer, you can't have expected him to expect a piss poor deal like that at such a young age. Don't blame him in the slightest for wanting to drop a league and play regularly! He never quite did enough to justify offering him a longer deal though imo. He would have been the next Jamie McGlen.

I reckon it should be Butt. Needs to be a player who's in the thick of it all the time.

...and yet the solution is so simple...

This thread was started half an hour before your poll and the article was being discussed. Surely you can understand why it was locked? The ideal compromise would have been to ask NSG if he minded adding a poll to his thread. no, I personally can't see why it was locked, plenty of polls are started on topics posted on the same day, in fact this post was the reason for the poll, which is the whole point deciding on locking it or merging with this is obviously a decision for James, as he controls what can and can't be talked about If that's your opinion then fair enough. Your last sentence is ridiculous though!

£20m? They're paying £20m to loan him? Structed very similar to the Mascherano deal to Liverpool, fee paid to loan him for 2 years (around £6m), then £20m if they buy his contract. So they get the services of one of the best young players in the world for £6m? That's not a bad deal for Man U imo. They've obviously got to pay his wages too like... Loan? If he decides to leave after them 2 years they aren't entitled to a penny. Capiche? Gotcha!

Fair enough. They're getting him for a lot less than his current worth?

Try reading the thread and then get back to me Ringo. you think I haven't read it? You never read threads....... so what have Man U done wrong? Technically nothing. I think Parky is getting at the fact that Man U are attempting to take advantage of the situation by acquiring Tevez for the princely sum of fuck all.
