  1. then simply say "here is my transfer request" instead of having his lawyer leaking stuff to the media etc. he dragged it out to try and squeeze extra cash out the club.
  2. laid ac milan backed everton, real madrid and forest. all singles.
  3. he looks out of shape yet is our most mobile central midfielder...go fugure ?
  4. re fulham/donestk. donestk league shuts down mid december so it's been friendlies since then, coupled with fulhams decent home form. i don't think those odds are too far off.
  5. panathinaikos blew my accy yesterday, then barce blew my recovery accy. bad day but on the whole good weekend.
  6. thing is there would often be times when the uefa cup was stronger the the european cup because teams who won the league weren't doing so well by the time the european cup came round the following season.. however i agree that 4 is too many. definitly top 2 or 3 though. top 2 with third going into a play off like we had with zaleznicar would be ok.
  7. What if the 7th place club qualified and knew they were guaranteed £40m for qualifying and spent the lot investing to make themselves competitive? If they didn't qualify for the next few seasons then they'll have a wagebill that they can't maintain. Depends on their wage structure though. If they had to move a player or two on then they wouldn't even feel the hit. Spread the wealth. At the minute the rich are getting richer and opening it up a bit has to be a good thing. Yeh spreading the wealth is a good thing. I guess there isn't a solution thats financially but competitively fair for everyone. Strangely enough, this season seems to be an anomaly because theres a genuine chase for 4th place. But with the differing financial situations at Liverpool, Man City and Aston Villa, maybe leaving things as they are for a couple more years could finally see the gap bridged. there quite often is a chase for 4th place....everton, spurs (twice) now man citeh,us,
  8. Knee jerk is after ONE bad result. How many awful away performances is this now ? Its a DELAYED angry response if anything We need to score first, and this team is like a 110 year old man getting up in the morning when they're playing away. ...and some have been getting a lot of abuse for saying it, too it's not just away performances, theres been plenty of crap home performances . its unreal the ammount of home games this season where we have been no better than the opposition but have won well. i can only think of 3 games this season where we have been convincingly better than the opposition (palace, ipswich away, cardiff home).

  12. i thought that would be like newcastle east end (of lore). old people, obviously older than me, call hartlepool, "hartlepools"
  13. hartlepool was the other team i had that had changed their name.......... hartlepools united.......hartlepool......hartlepool united. anyone know what the story was with the 's' in hartlepools ?"
  14. Boro either did, or were f***ing close to, in '86. They did, declared bankrupcty or whatever and changed their name slightly. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,56978.msg2202811.html#msg2202811 bradford park avenue. although leeds city were kicked out the league mid season for financial irregularities and then disappeared.
  15. aye. them and wimbledon were on my original list.
  16. any more saying as how i never had them. i covered it in the question aswell by saying at least three.
  17. people used o say that about nicky butt, saying it about smith can't be far off.
  18. nope but they are added to the list as having changed once. edit...on checking wiki they did change it twice. it's not the one i had in mind.
  19. wimbledon aye (mk dons). leicester ?
  20. at least three clubs have changed their name whilst in the league, and one has changed it twice. who are they ?
  21. Put very simply, because it's been talked about loads, it's because he left in January when we were in the middle of a relegation battle, instead of seeing that out and then leaving in the summer. The way he went about getting a move got a lot of peoples backs up too. Being out with a phantom injury to force the club's hand. The fact that a couple of weeks before the transfer window opened he reckoned he was happy at Newcastle too. On top of plenty big defeats to top 4 clubs in the past aswell, why pick to move then?, hmm £75,000 a week might have something to do with it. Given said after he moved that we could of done more to kep him, you mean something along the lines of the contract extension, pay increase and being made the club captain? f*** off Given, I hope you and Man City win f*** all. Were you at that match? I was at it, and it was f***ing ridiculous. Given put in a top drawer performance and still ended up letting in 5 goals. If that was indeed the last straw for him I can see why. He had been saying for about 5 consecutive transfer windows that we needed to strengthen and we never did. Joe Kinnear was in the f***ing dugout ffs. FWIW I think he should have waited til the summer to f*** off, but sometimes enough is enough. He was paid well yeah, but so f*** - no more money than he'd have been paid elsewhere. He was paid the going rate for a top class goalkeeper. I decided to look up the match thread for that game since it was before my time on here: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,58802.30.html Only browsed the first couple of pages but Given put in a f***ing excellent performance and was let down by those in front of him. And I reiterate KINNEAR in the f***ing dugout man. I can see why he snapped tbh. I wish he'd stayed til the end, therefore he slightly tarnished his reputation in my eyes. But with people on here it's so black and white (no pun intended, etc) - an ex-player is either a God or a c***. You're either a Solano or a Given. No grey area, is there? It's bollocks. Given went down in my estimation to an extent for leaving when he did but I've still got a lot of respect for him. All these people calling him a Judas and wishing him ill-will for the rest of his career are f***ing mental imo. for quite a few it wasn't the timing but the manner of his departure.
