  1. Aye, he's never sacked a manager. more to the point, those others weren't there with short as the owner.........................were they ?
  2. i missed a few wedding day times when younger and missed a trial for newcastle boys to watch a 2-2 draw against notts county.
  3. at least by going a man down and a goal down in 12mins they didn't keep you in suspense.
  4. Dunno, but the case of Leeds and the case of Portsmouth seem different to me. I don't remember Leeds being in danger of going out of business in the middle of a Premiership season. they held it off by selling everyone of note the could..................i wonder how much pompeys remaining staff are worth ?
  5. and the odds are pretty similar to one of my trebles coming in. laid monchengladbach now they are ahead.
  6. supercalifragelisticborussiamonchengladbach win for tonight. 2 trebles and a double for tomorrow...... middsboro/montpellie/lille austria vienna/millwall pompey/hearts/leverkusen.
  7. What infrastructure is his talking about? The infrastructure of hugely paid and terribly performing wasters like Owen, Martins, Viduka and Duff ect? Also have to say that allowing Hughton to keep the likes of Jonas, Smith, Nolan, Coloccini ect on huge wages can hardly be called relentless cost cutting. We're in the Championship FFS! who's to say he let hughton keep them as opposed to not recieving any decent offers ? Hughton, if you don't believe him then fine, not going to get into another "who says it is, who says its not" argument if true, it's something i didn't know.

  9. So despite the spectre of free-spending Portsmouth crashing out of existence, and both Man U and Liverpool teetering financial ruin, this journo thinks it's business as usual in the premiership and it's all spend/spend/spend. Ignore Arsenal, ignore Fulham, ignore Villa - ignore all the clubs that have a reasonable grasp on their finances. The world of football is starting to change, but this journalist probably skipped Economics at school and thinks that it must be spend/spend/spend. It's not how much you spend, but what you buy. and also if the finances are now in order(ish) wouldn't that leave cash to spend in the summer if we get promoted ? so far ashley has been able to hide behind the economic position the club was in to whichever degree you accept it, no-one can say we could go on spending (not just transfer fees but wages etc). however, should we get promoted he'll have nowhere to hide even from those who think our position was dire.
  10. well that mcnally article was as bizzarre as anything thing i've read recently.
  11. who ? where ? what ? I was having quite an entertaining morning up until now. Suddenly I feel incredibly bored. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. possibly. maybe you don't like me. i'm sure i'll cope.
  12. I agree. I think Simpson is poor anyway but he looked terrible last night. He was about the same standard as Ryan Taylor, and I think he's one of the worst players i've ever seen at fullback. Actually, I thought I was the only person who didn't rate Simpson. I kept my mouth shut on the subject to avoid the usual abuse when I say such ! what do you mean by don't rate ? he's not great but, in my opinion is up to this level and possibly lower prem. hopefully we'll get a better idea about him when the defence is settled and he gets time with a more naturally right sided player (routledge)

  15. a salary and transfer cap wont come out of the premier league thats for sure it works against their main philosophy: spend spend spend f*** the long term consequences. I feel for the portsmouth fans but somebody has to be made an example of if it will get it into the heads of some thick owners that spending way beyond your means is a bad thing. Besides even if they survive today it will only put off their doom for a while, they're f***ed and we all know it the NHL had a simialr problem, players wages to high and not many fans coming through the door. All the teams owners and the players unions agreed to salary caps. Its worked wonders. Salary caps work when the league being capped is still the best paying league after the cap is in place. Players accept the cap because they can't earn more elsewhere, but in world football if you capped the Premier League, then all the top stars would move to Spain, Italy if they could earn more there. if they could earn more. at a guess though i'd bet only barce and real madrid are paying anywhere near the wages that we were.
  16. seems a tad unfair on others that go into administration to avoid this and get penalised 10points when pompey go this far in the hope of a buy ouy. if the buy out comes off they wont be penalised.

    Foreign NUFCs

have you looked at those pics man.....not one but two bridges. little known fact....the tyne bridge was copied off the sydney bridge even though it was built first.
  18. yup they're doomed if this aint sorted by then all comes down to the two supposed bids to buy them. if one of them doesn't come off and pays off the tax man in full then pompey will be gone next week.
  19. i agree about woodgate and bassong but th reasoning of we shouldn't want him cos of where his club is had to be shpown up. i'd take bramble instead of colo and wiiliamson.
  20. quick....to the betting thread !
  21. considering wigans current position ? what the fuck you on about kidda....i already nailed that with bassong and woodgate. keep up or opt out man....kids ?......I don't know...mutter....divvent knaa shit from clay....whinge.
  22. How do you know all that? He doesn't because it is nonsense, we were f***ing crap tonight and weren't interested, they were up for it and were by far the better side. I've never seen so many of our players bottle tackles as I did tonight. Savage gave half our team a good kick in the first 10 minutes and after that we were s*** scared of them ffs. slag savage off all you want he's been the best player on the park nearly every time i've seen him. and for the second time i'd take him over ALL of our central midfielders. Where did I slag him off? He ran the show tonight. no. sorry, wasn't having a go like that, it was rhetorical as many do slag him off.
  23. got to be in ahead of downing and who else s their wide left even if we don't play that way in the first 11....he's a better option for width than downing.
