You're not a stable football club or even a stable business when, due to chronic mismanagement, you have no fucking idea half way through the season if you're going to get the £100m+ Premier League money next year or not. That's the opposite of stability.

Townsend strikes me as a bit of a confidence player who is at his best when he has the crowd behind him, good players supporting him and a clever coach who knows when to put an arm around him and when to give him a kick up the arse. So he's come to the right place, obviously.
