This is the trap some teams fall into. Didn't Wolves beat something like 4 of the top 5 last year or something and still only escaped the drop on the last day? Points from big clubs arent any more valuable than those from smaller clubs. In fact, they're often less so, because you're not going to be vying for position with Chelsea at the end of the year. 3 points against Norwich is three times better than a point against Liverpool, even if it doesn't feel that way. They may be shrugging their shoulders and saying we've not played anyone any good, but you've got to get those points on board so that it doesn't matter as much if you only get 1 or 0 points from a big club and any you do get are a nice bonus that gives you that nudge above your rivals.

So how come they think the players are great and only playing badly because Bruce is an idiot? How come they trust that the players he's brought are great on paper if they think he's an idiot?

O'Neill would want his own players in, not be tasked with clearing up Bruce's mess with this shower. And if they give him that much money on top of what they spent, they could end uo in real shit if it doesn't work out.

Will be interesting if Bruce goes and they get someone else in. A lot of them seem convinced, still, that on paper their team is great and therefore all its failings must be down to Bruce. If another manager comes in and their goodies from "shopping at Harrods" still don't look like great players then he might find himself under pressure very quickly.

Spurs have spent an absolute shit-ton of money getting to where they are in terms of their recent good spell, so I'm not sure there's much of a comparison to be made. Whether you look at it over the last 5 years or the last 8 years they're fourth in the league of big spenders in terms of net outlay, and if it hadn't been for Liverpool's recent spending spree I'd imagine they'd be third, only behind Man City and Chelsea in the spunking stakes. There seems to be an impression that they've become top four contenders through frugal dealing in the transfer market and a club like us could learn something from them, when really I don't see how we can learn anything about how to run an Ashley model club from Spurs.
