Poyet's challenging himself. "How weak can I make our squad and still get to piss in Alan Pardew's face at St James' Park?"
-
Good move for him. Hughes has put together a nice team there. Must be hard to take for the wanky pundits who always poured scorn on any Stoke fans who rang any phone-ins and dared to suggest that now they're in the "greatest league in the world", they might like to watch something other than Rory Delap trying to hoy the ball from one touchline to the other.

This bloke's not all there like: https://twitter.com/jimw1892

I agree. I think the type of players we've bought in large quantity mean no significant improvement is likely and his only real excuse is out the door. This is what I'm hanging onto but as Disco says, we must have the easiest start in the league, Sunday obviously aside. It's very good that the masses think the squad has been hugely strengthened though, which I struggle to see. Riviere's going to need to be Demba Ba for a start.

It's a deal that would almost suit everyone, including Ashley in many ways but the thing that keeps him here is control. Pardew's a phone box call girl who would strap his anal cavity to a pneumatic drill if Mike wanted to watch.

That's alright, I'm supporting City as well.

Yeah that's exactly what I was going to say Marc. Some people think "the club" (in terms of their affiliation) is defined by the owners/chairman/employees and devote themselves to that idea. Me personally, the club is more abstract than that, it's defined more in terms of pride in the city and the history of those that have gone before. Mine's a bit more along the lines of SBR's idea of a club. Giving free reign and assigning infallibility to anybody, be it player, manager or owner just because they happen to have a salaried job in an business that you feel close to is unbelievably stupid, they've got to earn that right to be accepted by the fans imo.

We only like to sell for serious profit because we get so upset at the cost of replacing after factoring in signing on fees etc. We haven't got anyone worth anything now, other than Krul. If you want to use your graphs (that fooled you last season) to convince yourself that that is no longer the approach, that's up to you. But it is.

You all know what was meant.... http://i61.tinypic.com/2i16cn.jpg On a moving average of 10 you can see the change from a steep drop which made us a selling club to a consistent increase which suggests we're investing more than we receive, albeit at a lesser gradient. I'd argue that it's not a deliberate strategy and more a consequence of the assets being devalued by the management and coaching. Pardew was desperately trying to invite bids for Tiote two years ago. What's he worth now? Most of the players we got cheap or at least at reasonable prices hoping to see their value rise (MYM, HBA, Sissoko, Santon, Cisse, Anita...), all these players are either worth less than we paid or not worth the risk of selling for a very small profit when they'll need replacing.

It's a fair cop.

How many points did we get without Cabaye and/or Remy? 3? In about ten games or so? Of course it's been the bare minimum, in fact since they were our two best players and neither has been replaced with proven quality, you could argue it's not even been that.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/big-toon-survey-newcastle-united-7610414 If these are any guide, we genuinely have some of the stupidest fans in the country making up a sizeable proportion of the support.

Aye very objective it was too, cheers Screech.

Ironic considering your patter about him is solely based on him being dead canny in the playground.

Okay, let's make things interesting. What would constitute Pardew failing in your eyes? Not in Ashley's eyes, in your's. Being amongst those in contention for the drop. Not sure where you thought you were but this is a Newcastle United forum.

Everton don't even look to spend reasonably. Everton have spent nothing more than the giant truck full of cash that Sky parked outside their ground, after years of penny pinching. That's perfectly reasonable. It's true that Ashley won't even spend that. What's also true however is that Martinez has shown he can get excellent performances and results with a squad that was cheaply assembled and wasn't even his, so your point is worth little. Ashley's main problem with cost is the bizarre refusal to pay a real manager. How much was Atletico's squad btw? Can't stand this new breed of football fan that believes all the results are somehow pre-determined by the wage bill of each club. Awful defeatism before even getting on the field.

Makes Alan Oliver look like Carl Bernstein.

Who the fuck is Umar Farooq, wasn't he in the Nation of Domination?

Dunno how recent it is, they used to talk a disgraceful amount of shite about Robert.

Trying far too hard. Little weasel.

I'm supposed to only be calling him a cunt as well.

I do like it when posters you rarely see come on and say "nobody on here has a decent argument to make against Pardew other than insults and smilies", Luca does it all the time as well. Yet I must have written 100,000 words about this shitbag in the last three and a half years that apparently no bastard has read.
