That paper is a joke. I'm stuck with the South Tyneside version in Hebburn and it's not even mentioned once in that paper. You would have thought that if there was even the slightest bit of substance behind that they'd share it with us just 4 miles away. I didn't realise there were different versions.

Sunday Sun running with Baptista again, £7m.

It's bollocks anyway but hypothetically: not a hope in hell. Like Smith, I expect us to be stuck with the useless wanker until his contract expires.

Mental if he means it tbh. I don't think i've ever been more satisfied with our wing-backs since i started following the club. That's completely irrelevent. If they both get injured, there are NO proven players to come into their positions. Zog plays OK at left back, but you'd prefer a dedicated LB, and Geremi is too slow to cover for Beye in my opinion. Anyway, as I said earlier, I'm 99% that he'll sign players in other positions anyway. If Beye and Enrique get injured, we've got the likes of Taylor and Edgar who can come in who, undeniably - aren't ideal, but can fill in adequately. If Owen and Martins get injured, we've got the most immobile strikeforce in the league. If this argument is all about cover for positions, then full-backs are not the priority. Aye, we'd have the potential to leak one or two more goals, but we've got a lot of good defenders in the squad in my opinion to hold it together. Injure our strikers though, and we're royally f***ed. Another full-back would be more than useful, but it's not as essential as bringing in another striker or an attacking midfielder imo. Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I think it's more important to have adequate cover for every position. Yes, but we don't have adequate cover for the forwards, especially if we go 4-3-3 again, and centre forward is undoubtedly a more important position than full back.

You can't go through a season with one left back and one right back though. That surely HAS to be priority, no two ways about it. You can get away with having a makeshift LB or RB (e.g. one of the centre halves, N'Zogbia, Geremi) you can't get away with having Shola and/or Smith starting a Premiership game.

I disagree with him totally that RB and LB are priorities, I have to say. Our need for a striker has increased even more with Oba's tragic news. Who knows when he will be back, how fit and where his head will be? That leaves us (potentially) with Viduka and Owen who are both great players but both also happen to be made of glass and beyond them, we have absolutely nothing.

Some speculative bollocks in the Mail claiming we've bid for Senderos.

no, I didn't, somebody edited the thread. Wasn't it proved that they didn't? no, and it has all been sorted out amicably. oh dear, what are you laughing at you silly boy mackems.gif No one edited your post, you big tart, stop lying and trying to get out of what you posted. Anyone else would just accept they were wrong and move on.

Very sad, my heart goes out to him. Hope the club and everyone involved give him their full support at this difficult time.

I'll always treasure that memory of Martins feinging one way, Tainio falling over and Oba burying it.
-
Martins has somehow got this rep - "oh he only scores screamers" - he doesn't, he scores plenty of good strikers goals too. I realise this doesn't fit in with the view that he's not good enough for us, a team who just finished in the bottom half of the Premiership.

Great, I wish had a cagoule shirt.
