Really good win today, even if we were hanging on at the end. I thought the loss of Cabaye was going to cost us, but Guthrie (who was superb) and Gosling just about managed to keep it together in midfield. 2nd place then eh? Hard to believe - well done lads. The international break is now coming at a good time for us.

Well, where did that win come from tonight - I certainly didn't see it coming! We were terrific all over the pitch and it's as good a Newcastle away performance in the PL that I've seen for many years. Not many sides will go to Stoke and get a win, nevermind bagging three goals in the process. Jonas was magnificent tonight with his protecting of Ryan Taylor (who was steady again too) Also great centre-forwards performance from Demba Ba. Will be all the sweeter for him tonight after the stick he took. Onwards and upwards.

My concern about Guthrie (if no Tiote) is that he is too lightweight. We need a scrapper in there, IMO.

don't know but sunderland was once (i'm told) the first city to field a BNP candidate in every ward at the council elections. at the last elections there were none. make of that what you will. i understand the EDL see sunderland as bit of a stronghold mind. BNP has always had a large influence in mackemland. Reasons? I'm unsure. Because its full of racists ? It's not a problem that is exclusive to Sunderland in this part of the world though!
