It would go down as a massive achievement for Hughton if we did I guess Souness gets the credit for that season then. Narr, Shearer should get a hell of a lot of credit for our promotion mind.
  2. Two words: Sebastien Bassong. 1 word: Relegation That, plus a few more words: (ala Duff, Beye, Martins et al) Didn't want to stay. Good riddence.
  3. Ah come on. The Enrique twitter thing was funny, and another one today - Pardew says Harper pushed by fan but plays it down. "Shouldn’t happen ... but nothing malicious in it. Don’t want to harp on about it."
  4. No. I don't want to see any of our better players sold, but he is one of the few who I really can't understand being associated with any of these figures; let the board worry about shit like that. I just care about who turns out in the shirt for us, and the ones who I'm proud of, I want to keep. £10m, £30m, £50m, who gives a toss. He is a player who could help the club get somewhere, a local lad, and a future England international. Why would anyone want to give that up? /Let alone adding to the feeling of the inevitability of his sale by continualy speculating in fkn threads like these.

It will. It fkn shouldn't. Depends on the manner of defeat. As usual. Whey, true. With the players we have out, I'm far from confident we'll get any kind of result. But if we go out there laying down and asking to be bummed, then I'll be as angry as anyone obviously.

Tiote's high energy and drive should have given the attackers more freedom. Pardew wanted to progress, so took the gamble. At the time I was wary, but if it had paid off, who knows. As soon as he was sent off though, and there is a degree of hindsight here, it ended up an absolutely dreadful decision. Can't see us wining against the scum without Tiote in the team. stupid gamble to take given that he walked off the pitch with a tight hamstring a few days earlier, chasing a league game maybe, not a cup game though. it's hardly a priority. That's the thing though, Pardew seemed determined to go somewhere in the cup and make his mark. If the gamble worked, great, but it was probably a gamble that shouldn't have been made. As I said, I wasn't happy with bringing him on at the time.

I am quite surprised by that because Harper is not azz licker like STaylor or some others ..... I son't care as long as he is doing something good. Are Simpson and Jose azz lickers?
  10. How's Bafra's relationship with Benzema? Come on son, put a good word in for us, t'would be immense.

Not a chance we'll beat them. Sorry. http://stevebalsamofan.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/fingers%20crossed.gif

Not sure it's an absolute, but it's certainly a trait I admire.

I don't think Pardew was attempting to use an excuse like that or came across like that in the slightest. Ridiculous thing to say.

Agree that it's not a particularly big deal (unless it does affect the players adversely in the long run), certainly the stuff about Jose's twittering. But how Hughton came accross in interviews was a breath of fresh air for me when he first took over, and is the only concrete thing so far that I miss.

It's just him being more mouthy that's annoying so far. Might get used to it if by some chance it gets as good or better a reaction as Hughton did from the players.

Great to see the club keeping hold of him. Hope we get to see more of him soon.
  17. I agree that we done the right thing avoiding this disaster, but what makes you think what's been written is true? I can believe it (though it may be slightly exagerated). It certainly fits in with Pards quote about how new players should not expect to just walk into the team.
  18. Guessed that was why we changed tack. If true, that is completely nuts.
  19. But the most likely reason we didn't persue Bentley further was, as Pards seemed to indicate, he wasn't willing to wait to break into the team. If, as you say, Larsson has the same atitude, then there's little point in him coming either.
  20. The entire last page of the thread was speculating about it. Where in the what now? Quit the speculating then and give me answers.
  21. Pardew - "I want a player, our board wants a player but that doesn't mean the other club wants to sell," he said. "In some ways you don't know if the result yesterday was a good thing or a bad thing. There's a sort of clue thrown in there." Clue? Who's he on about? From here - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/06/newcastle-united-andy-carroll-dubai
  22. Quote from Pardew tonight regarding Stevenage when asked about making changes - "I don't want to rotate, I want to win!" Though tbf with all the injuries tonight, he's not going to have that many choices left anyway.
  23. That's absolutely mental. I just know how to pick the games It helps that those 30 or so games have been over 6 years. Mind you, I have seen Chelsea, Spurs, PSV, Marseille, Juve and Sporting at SJP. It'll feel weird the day that I come away from SJP after witnessing a defeat. Have no idea what it feels like As yer man said, that is utterly nuts. Well played.
  24. We're not gonna lose Ranger. It's better they iron out all his rough edges now, and don't give him too much too early. He's been veyr good as an impact player off the bench and should continue to fill that role, until he picks things up in training etc. So finally we get to see Leon Best play from the outset. Happy for the guy, and I'm sure he'll do well. Call it a hunch. That's the spirit!
