All quiet at the moment but guess Llambias' interview may answer some questions. What did he actually promise to do? Got any quotes from Ashley?

No idea Indi. Best take a placard that will say 'down with this sort of thing' to cover all bases. http://www.channel4.com/video/images/mb/Channel4/video/clip%20images/Father_Ted/Father_Ted_001_003_002_001.jpg -

I'm sure that would be breaking the contract and if we did that the players could become free agents, at a guess. If things are as bad as they seem, and we havent a bean to our name, then drastic measures are called for. Like stopping all this boycott palaver that people think is helping the club by hurting Ashley. No, its' hurting the club. /Sorry Robster, not aimed at you, just tried randy bollocks. fyp. Fair enough, everything once as they say. http://mcb.berkeley.edu/labs/heald/Hall%20of%20Fame/images/delicious_JPG.jpg Delicious! -

Well Ashley thought it could work, maybe along the lines of QPR or something. Considering the likelyhood that outside of a fairytale Sheikh or Oligarch, the only people likely to have the funds to run the club would be your random consortium of Nigererian/Asian/American businessmen or a shadowy hedge fund anyway, it might not have been the worst option. And as I say, I think Ashley was probably desparate for some outside investment just to keep the likes of Keegan and Shay etc on board. -

Yup, actually publicly admitted the need for futher (local if possible) investment. He said he didn't want out, but would happily share the club with someone willing to put in further funds to get the better players in. It was either a desperate plea or a rally cry to local businessmen. Either way noone answered the call, and then of course the Keegan thing happened (which may well have been triggered by this lack of extra funding for the transfers coming in). -

I might be wrong but I'm sure he said that he would put the money in, I can't remember him saying that it was specifically for transfers. You are wrong. No, you are wrong. Well there's an article that says otherwise, in an NUFC publication, with Mike Ashley's words. But saying that, NUFC are denying their own publications with regards to KK's constructive dismissal claim arent they. Not my job. You are the one accusing him of of saying things with nothing to back it up. I'll have a Come on. As his few words are dissected to bits, it shouldn't be to hard for you to find the quotes. Ive looked on the forum where I initially posted the scanned article, I couldnt find it, if you have the quote post it. I wouldn't be arguing with you if I had the quote, and clearly others have not come accross it either. I'm genuinly interested. You accuse him of saying these things but have nothing to back it up so far. If I could find the scanned article I'd have posted it by now, someone will have it, its just one example of the many in it anyway, Im still amazed by the apologists attempting to split hairs anyway. Apologists splitting hairs? Flippin' nora, I am interested whether he actually said what you are accusing him of saying. There is a massive difference between him saying he was willing to plough £20 million a year into the club (which in the accounts has now run to £30 million), and whether as you would have us believe, he said that there would be £20 million for transfers (on top of any subsidy if the club failed to break even). -

...and don't complain when we then can't afford to bring in players on decent salaries in the future. /the odd pint, but haven't bought a pie or anything else in the ground for an age tbf //but that's just me being a tight bastard :-[
-
We've never brought in "the Shevchenko's (sic), Robinho's (sic) or the Berbatov's (sic)". We've had players like Robert, Bellamy and Solano, all far better players than anyone brought in under the Ashley regime. They are not saying we have, nor should we expect such players in the near future which clearly needed to be said the way some were going on. I think we are trying to bring in players certainly a par with Robert, Bellamy and Solano if not better (even in terms of the transfer fees paid) as well as investing in youth more than the previous lot. And it's pretty telling that those are the biggest successes in recent years, two of which were got shot of for far less than they were worth. I think the current team have already managed a better hit rate with the likes of Jonas and Bassong being the standouts and even the likes of Guthrie and Collo in one transfer window. I was dissapointed with the winter transfer period, but not with the players signed or lost really. Just hoped for one or two more. Stop losing players on the cheap, keep building the squad up with exciting youth and a smattering of experience and internationals until we are in a possition to atract the top players again and I'll be happy. But what does worry me is that such sustained progress can only be made with a manager the players, board, and supporters can have confidence in, and Kinnear frankly scares me shitless.

And look at the date:14/09/2008. That's after he'd shown his true colours. <-- that quote epitomises "the transfer system" that keegan apparently agreed with to come back a year ago. im still waiting for you or somebody else to show where he's said we'll spend our way up the league btw. No, that would have been this (contradicting one).. "The caliber of player we want to bring in is someone with a lot of Premiership experience or Champions League experience and they are in short supply. We are at a stage where we don't want to just bring players in to add to the squad, we want players who are going to be in the first team." Chris Mort 02/08/2007 The one you refer to is from after Keegan left. But where is the contradiction? What they don't want to do is just bring in squad players or young players like Bassong, Taylor, Guthrie, Ranger etc.. but get players in that can go into the first team ala Collo, Jonas, Nolan, who have Premiership or top European experience etc, but that it's difficult. What is not at least understandable about that? How does that go against them saying that we cannot sustain bringing in the Shevchenko's, Robinho's or the Berbatov's, but will build up slowly.
-
I don't think I can see any quotes from Ashley there that are are that heinous or even particularly unreasonable in context. Things change, Kinnear drops a bollock or two, but lies and propaganda? Meh, I think you are crediting the club with a little too much intelligence and showing very little yourself trying to whip up outrage with some cherry picked (and at best tenuously connected) lines there Mr Happy Face.

Nah, the only volleys of exasperation with our own where I was were directed purely towards Shola and Butt.
-
I'm within seat hoiking distance of Llambias if it goes tits up, but it won't. We are going to fuck 'em. Today will be a happy day.
-
See, that's how you handle getting players you don't want.

Unlike Gary speed with Nolan, he said he wouldn't advise anyone to come to Newcastle. Ungrateful cockney twat. /I keed, I keed. Top fella, great times.

Damn straight. I would be surprised if the would let Sturridge leave, but who knows, that may we be what the ongoing wrangling is all about.
