  1. Eh what? Just felt the need to say I find the use of the term 'mong' pretty offensive. The apparently flippant and repetitive use of it in this thread especially so. No biggie. I looked back ten pages and couldn't find one instance of it. Perhaps not this thread but is everywhere. The derogatory references to downs syndrome on this forum are horrific, specifically a recent picture a poster put on here mocking someone with the condition.
  2. His good play was even before the Lovenkrands pass. Collecting the ball and driving it out to Lovenkrands very well before bursting a gut to get forward.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

There are just too many problems with Ben Arfa. We don't control games when he is playing. He loses the ball too easily. He is selfish. He holds onto the ball too long. Playing him means having to play Jonas as an AMC. His all round play is complete pap, unlike the other midfielders who at least did something. Poor strikers may restrict forward passes, but doesn't stop the sideways passes, the back passes, the full back interlinking, the tracking back, and the discipline, none of which have been evidenced tonight once again. People are putting their hopes on Ba and Cisse, but that is really last chance saloon for him. The cost of having him in the team right now by far exceeds any benefit that he might make one or two good forward passes or dribbles in a game.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Terrible again, and forced us to play in a formation we simply aren't comfortable with.

Is it the same ref as for Fulham, the linesmen are the same...
  6. We have been poor. The formation isn't working. Back to 442 please even if it means taking out Ben Arfa. Looks like Perch was being briefed ahead of coming on for the second half, lots of possibilities for replacements: Ryan Taylor Williamson Santon (with Taylor going LB) Ben Arfa (Taylor going RW) Jonas Best (Jonas going LW)
  7. I think we will turn it al around tonight. 3-0 Newcastle. Coloccini, Best, Own Goal.
  8. Set out like that, Ben Arfa should run around them like training cones.
  9. I thought Ryan taylor would play to take set pieces. Suspected left back, but this is a good move by Pardew.

    Harry Redknapp

It would be good if it was stipulated in football rules that any home nationality player who joins a club before the age of 21 entitles managers to claim a share of net profit dependant on how long they managed the player. For example if an English player comes through a clubs academy and makes his debut aged 20 then is sold aged 24 for 10m after 150 games, playing 100 games for Manager A, and 50 games for Manager B, both managers share a 10% of the transfer split 6.6%/3.3%. But if not English, or not signed before turning 21 manager gets nothing. Might encourage managers to take a more long term approach with English players.

    Yohan Cabaye retires

Media and managers have too much say over disciplinary decisions and influences who does and doesn't get banned. Cabaye deserved it. However others got off scot free for worse. Perhaps the fairest way is as all matches are recorded and streamed live with highlights etc, every game is screened live to the Premier League premises including replays but without commentary, with matches watched by three anonymous officials who can vote on any disciplinary incident they deem noteworthy.
  12. I think Ba does very well in the role where he drops deep to defend and pass but then join the attack. Youtube videos of cisse show he also likes to come deep to pass before attacking the box. On that basis Ba should be number 10, but when attacking 10 and 9 could swap, to unsettle defences. Ben Arfa on the right, Jonas on the left, Marveaux and Obertan backup and Tiote Cabaye deep.

    Yohan Cabaye retires

Cancelling your subscription? Get a grip. Cabaye has been acting like a hypocritical baby recently and deserves it. He needs to improve his on pitch temperament and reverse his poor form. As for Stubbs, he would have said the same for any player, and the 'not a pro's argument isn't good as he was a pro.
  14. I think we will sign 2 centre backs in the summer. In addition to Coloccini's contract there are concerns about his lower back for me. Often the lower back will stop hurting but fixed itself in a way that causes groin and thigh injuries, initially minor, but eventually leading to more serious injuries as the weakness develops. coloccini is showing early signs of this injury which is known to keep footballers out for 6 months, the surgery scheduled for the summer to minimise impact on the team. Getting one this month wasn't crucial though. We kept our players and signed the striker we wanted.
  15. Has Harry left his dog in charge of transfers while he is in court?
  16. Can we sell Dave to another forum for 35m, buy 10 years worth of server, a bore hole, and then just split the cash?
  17. There aren't a great deal of centre halfs available in this window. I would be tempted to just wait 6 months for Douglas.
  18. It is a shame Douglas wants to stay in Holland until the end of the season to be able to playfor the national team otherwise we would have him by now.
  19. One of our best academy products over recent years is signing for Blackburn
  20. Something is incorrectly reported and commented on in this thread. It was Gary Speed who dismissed killing himself because of the kids in the text, not Louise dismissing the text.
  21. He will still be here next season unless a rich club does something stupid.
