A bit short up front and at left back, and no viable right back. Better than I expected though.

I hope we learn from the Andy Carroll experience and loan players to Championship high flyers for a whole season, even if it means us having to buy a replacement to do so.

I think if we had stayed up it was just going to delay the inevitable future relegation. Although it was bad when we got relegated, it was a good time, as we had the right personnel for the promotion year, a lower standard of opposition than in some years, and it was the right moment to develop certain individuals and experiment with different tactics.

I'm personally of the opinion that all our signings bar Gosling who became available are here because while Hughton does not doubt the existing team, he doubts their capability to perform for 90 minutes for 50 games. Therefore after an international break where not many are to feature, expect to see the same XI we have played all season if all are fit.

Including pre-season, how many times has he been chasing the ball at pace shoulder to shoulder with a player and ended up bringing them down? That aspect of his game makes him a complete liability alone.

For 75% of the season when fit Bramble was a beast. Yes he did cock up quite prolifically, but think about how many penalties/red cards Bassong was responsible for. Additionally, Bassong always seemed under pressure for us, which was not the case for Bramble who would often quietly and effectively get on with his job.

Yes, Krul may make us concede goals that we may otherwise not due to his inexperience. However, he'll also save attempts on goal that Harper would not. It would even out. Only Krul can improve. The last three games also make it a good opportunity to make the switch. No-one could argue if Hughton said he was making the selection based on current form.

Keane would also work on the right of a 4231 formation in my opinion.

Like last year we are currently defending well, but the standard of finishing is better. We need a better keeper to give opposition strikers a smaller target.
