In an ideal world we would get the defenders in the next couple of weeks, then if West Ham came in we could sell him and replace him with a quality attacking midfielder. As long as we can get the defenders in soon then it would be great business to get him of the wage bill and bring in someone with proper quality to replace him.

Why give it to Given though when he doesn't even command his defence properly, never mind lead the whole team? He's a quality keeper, and he deserves it as far as loyalty and commitment goes, but he's not ideal as a captain. Butt would be the obvious choice but he's getting on and we need some stability cos we can't be changing our captain every other year. I think we should wait a bit longer to see who we bring in.

Sign a new contract committing your best years to the club, and wipe out your clause and i won't have a problem.

Best thing for him would be to have another season like he had last season and hopefully for his sake they will sign Fowler and get promoted. He's Cardiff's star player so if they go up he is guaranteed to be first choice. If he left now for a Premiership team he might start on the bench and if he doesn't impress when he comes on he will find himself back to square one.
