  1. Welcome to what its like being a supporter in Australia. This is what its like every week, or worse when the games start at 4am instead! This is true, thankful for that blessing! Don't mind getting up at 9, 8, 7 or even sometimes 6am on a Saturday to watch, during the season. Ruins the rest of the day when we inevitably get whipped though!
  2. Cant believe its 1:30am and I am staying up for it tbh..
  3. Its Glandular. That said I hear he keeps a silver lock of Alans hair in his gloves for good luck.
  4. Well Ashley clearly doesn't trust him over Carr when it comes to recruitment. That is more likely down to the money he saves buying abroad though. We have had ample opportunity to shift Pardew, unless we are bottom three come October/November he will be here. Guess that can apply roughly to the whole season only bottom 6 would cost him his job imo.
  5. Some pretty mental patter going on here like. Shayno your squad comparison includes up to 7 players that might not be here by season start and certainly 3 that will never play for this club again under pardew. Yeah I agree with a decent manager, upturn in player form/youth development and some big luck on the injury front, the current squad could push top 8. We aren't that far off but we are two injuries (siem/Remy) away from being just as woefully creative as last season. Except without any chance of marveaux/ben arfa coming in. We need another deep lying creative mid, a winger, a cb and experienced striker to be fully stocked to compete IMO. Along with Marv, Jonas, Hatem and Obertan, the future is up in the air for Sissoko, Abeid, ferguson and mapou. Then dummett, Ameobi, Campbell, vuckic, bigi and Armstrong have all been linked with loans. We have a big squad in numbers but in premier league level quality no. That has all been mentioned above though.

Exciting stuff.. Hopefull a few more big players under 30 start coming on board too! Morales has been inspired for Vancouver.

Ha, is AC smart enough to be that cryptic?
  8. I don't entirely disagree with your point, but Sturridge has had more than one season in the first team. He had a half season with Bolton when he was the main striker, was an important part of Chelsea's squad the year they won the CL, and walked into Liverpool's first team after being injured for most of the early season (at Chelsea). How many English players take the plunge and move abroad though? Granted they have to be wanted first, but imo players and the National set up could benefit from it. Not taking away from the mess that is the premiership in terms of English players. It has to be fixed and should have been 10/15 years ago. Astonishes me how prices for British players can be so staggeringly high.. "well if they made it through with all the competition from foreign players, they have to be good". Half of them don't even play for their national sides, yet command fees three times higher than full nationals coming from other countries.
  9. Cometh the hour, cometh "Wor Jack" - Quoted for Interpolic. Gerrard has been a fantastic servant to Liverpool and the national team. Credit due. Good time to move on and retire to preserve what time he has left with Liverpool though.

There has to be another Asamoah Gyan out there for them to spunk that 14m on, surely.

  12. The fact he was at the press conference with Colo, Siem and the King must give some kind of hope.
  13. Yeah, must have phoned up the club to ask about the ban.. "So with the new season being a clean slate, are we allowed back in the grounds?....no... well sod you then. Right I'm going to write a negative article to stir up the fans again"
  14. The Carroll of old is type of striker that would fit nicely for us through the middle. Which is why I am surprised we are linked with Lacazette and Ings who both excel more in the #10 role. Hard to find someone in the Carroll mold though that wants to come here.
  15. I'm sure the interest is there from both Carroll and our club, but we won't be interested in paying a penny over 10m. I would be shocked if we spent that much. Wouldn't surprise me if we asked for a loan first!

  17. In comparison Debuchy looked like a rabbit in headlights defending. Beye never even broke a sweat. We got him just at the end of his peak. Too bad, probably my favourite RB to play for the club, oozed class in that first season.. was gutted he dropped us in the relegation season. How much of that was him, his agent or the club telling him to take a pay cut or pushing him out who knows. Remember thinking he was dead cert to stay. He always seemed honorable.

I completely agree with you. Great gesture from the mackems. Aye every clubs got them and ours are just as much scum as the rest. Always going to be a bit of spill over from banter when alcohol is involved with people that can't take it, but its the scum and real life trolls that go to the game looking for trouble before, during and after. Its a mong culture unfortunately that's hard to stamp out and indeed makes the decent everyday fan and the club the purportedly support look bad.
  19. No doubt. Its all about this. I think he would be shine back here again with the crowd behind him and being back home. Danger is not having a minder for him and that troublesome injury spell. He has had a bad run, but doesn't mean he will always be crocked. Not a risk I would want us to be taking at 15m. Plenty of other options out there surely.
  20. Best thing we can hope for is a year long lone for him..like Marveaux. Then trust Pardew to fuck it up and get sacked so the new manager will recall him or take a look next summer.
  21. Jonas got first team football 2 years longer than it was worth even having him on the bench. The club have been far too kind to him. Tbf the odd game when he was forced into a central role, he was much less useless. Hasn't been able to beat a man since Keegan left though. After losing his pace Jonas was best suited moving to the middle. Still think he could have done a job for us there tbh. We will never know. He was absolutely a Pardew favourite, couldn't get him out of the team when he was playing badly. Then dropped.
  22. Gutted by all of this tbh. Probably still the most talented player on our books. He so desperately needs the SBR arm around the shoulder and some loving from our coaching staff. He is anothor ruined by Pardews heinous and by now legendary "man management" skills. He obviously hasn't helped himself either at times. Aligning himself with fans and pandering to them will only last so long too. If he really values the fans and the club he will get his head down or move on. That being said I think its far too late and for all we know he has done this multiple times with Pardew still treating him with contempt. Hard to tell without real inside information. If we are to believe the noises coming out of the club and its not just PR spin, Ben Arfa is unpopular with the playing staff too. That tells its own story if so. Feels like the Bellamy/Souness debacle all over again.
