How old is he now? About 29 ish IIRC. Old (ish), out of form, not liked by fans, probably a high earner, i can see Everton selling for cheap, however i wouldn't pay more than £2m for him, and that would get less each window due to age. Big gamble. Funny how it comes round full circle. Scored alot of goals in the championship, but thats probably because he has found his level.

Pretty much a non story then! I guess the upside with the likes of Beattie and Ferguson is that they are low cost older players that could be sold off easily enough to championship clubs at the end of the season IF we get a new manager. Buying younger players to long term deals would be harder to shift when they turn out to be flops. The downside is the words 'If we get a new manager'.

Seems strange, why cut his options. The whole point in him staying until the end of the season was to assess his options. Pretty sad if its true, when we could have cashed in on him now. I'd much rather that happened than get nothing for him in the summer.

He and Donaldson are more likely to get minutes than Xisco. -
Off to City in the morning then!

They are talking about putting N'Zog in the centre with Guthrie anyway. If that does happen though I would expect Jonas to stay out Right with Duff on the left. They have been alternating through the game, they need to mix it up more regularly though imo. -
Not convinced by Riise, would be more than happy to get him in IF Enrique is staying though. Enrique needs competition and Riise can fit into midfield if Enrique ever settles in or we really need him. Its well past the stage where I care as much about who comes in, as long as we dont end up with a smaller squad again when the window closes.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Personally I think the whole squad should go with it for the game tmrw. Spanners would never be able to get focussed. -

Looks like Carrol has adpoted the "If I look like Nile Ranger, I might score like Nile Ranger" theory. Probably the worst hair styling I have ever seen in the premier league, makes Jason Lee look cool. Got some balls if he keeps it for tmrw though. -
This! 15 points would be lovely. The fine is much more likely. Normally more damaging aswell, especially given the current situation at West Ham, that said it will probably just mean someone mega rich coming in and buying them for much cheaper and happily paying the fine making it meaningless.

Honestly, next year if we lose Given. Hardly think we're destined for relegation for goodness sake. Villa looked like they were destined to be a big club to face relegated only a few years ago. Football isn't static. Players change, managers change, etc. For all we know in five years, Newcastle could be preparing for their next Premier league fixture at Ibrox against Rangers or at the Vicente Calderon against Atletico fro our next Europe second divison fixture. I'd normally agree, but the way we've steadily taken a step further into the abyss every year against all odds makes me feel like there are some cosmic forces conspiring against us. I really thought it was the end of that after we drew at Old Trafford on the first day of the season. Unfortunately, events since then have systematically crushed any sense of hope out of my bones. Things can easily go either way. It wont take much to see us rocket back up the league to somewhere respectable. A decent manager in the summer could see our better players stay with some quality additions we would be back on track. Of course it could go the other way, considering the way results have conspired against us when we have picked up points, a couple of losses and we are back in the shit and panic sets in. More than likely it will sit somewhere in the middle with us finishing just below midtable, Kinnear staying on, most of the better players leaving but some decent investment over the summer with a moderately improved finish the year after. Slow progress.

Just before he does another theatric dive and feigns injury for another minute or two.

Geremi leaves first to Turkey for a nominal fee. Alan Smith refuses to leave despite offers from Boro, Everton, Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Barton is pushed out to Pompey, Kinnear finds out the next day after wise scouting report recomends Barton as a summer target, brushing it aside JFK says he has been reassured he can spend the money, he duly does on a 5m darren ferguson, peterborough are chuffed as they appoint Roy Keane, David Murray scratches his head. N'Zogbia will leave for a cut price fee after a bust up with Kinnear after the 10th statement criticising the club is released, this time accusing Kinnear of asking players to crimp his mullet, an angry Kinnear enters the guiness book of records after swearing more times than N'Zogbia has sulked, although he doesnt deny the claims. Kinnear claims the sales are over, just before we offload Enrique back to spain on loan and Martins joins Spurs linking up with best buddy N'Zogbia. Two days later around the 30th Given walks to Man City for 7m plus hamann, JFK is happy until he realises its not Sam. Kinnear says we have an ace up our sleeves but reality hits the day after when we dont have time to spend the money and conveniently no one good enough is available. Kinnear resigns stating health reasons, two hours earlier he needed a sit down after fighting with Lambias and knocking him out. Wise takes temporary charge before Poyet comes in to lead us to the championship and the FA cup.

N'Zogbia: Lyon interested according to agent

Would be fantastic, with Jonas and Duff the wings would be sorted, he could certainly fill in the centre aswell. Not ever going to happen though. -

35p, a black and white stripey top and a couple of frog's legs and he's yours. Honestly though, if like Baggio says, he's available for around the £7million mark then i think it's well worth the gamble. As for player exchange, i doubt Redknapp would allow any players to leave aprt from maybe Gunter (good player), ghaly (good player but it might be better if he leaves) , boateng (s****), and maybe Bentley if you lot add some cash to the N'zogbia deal. Come to think of it, you might be able to get Dos santos of us, as it seems Redknapp dosen't rate him much. Can't believe what has become of Kevin Prince Boateng! Man ... KD do you really think he was given enough of an opportunity to settle and even show his stuff? I hardly remember him playing a game?! I remember seeing him play for Germany when he was younger, in a youth tourney, and he was an absolute dynamo. He was everywhere. Breaking up play and bombing forward to join attacks. Can't believe what has become of the guy. He really needs to get his act together though. The plan was that he was supposed to become one the best mids in the world, but if you look at what some of his age mates in centre midfield have already accomplished, he is far behind. Even someone like Guthrie is holding down a spot in a Premier League club. [bold]Kevin will be 22 in a few months and has barely sniffed first team action. And its the like of Jenas, Huddlestone, and O'Hara that are keeping him out.[/bold] To be fair, had probably all of those players been here Guthrie might not have got in ahead of them either, certainly the first two. -
What has he said ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bolton_wanderers/7818181.stm Just basically saying they have got Davenport on the verge of signing, but they are just going to see if a better deal can come off before they make him sign.

Shocking behaviour from Megson, with his comments today. Its no suprise football clubs can work transfers like that but why tell everyone thats what your doing? Hope whomever he is after turns them down and Davenport sticks two fingers up. Kinnear like behavior of the highest order!
