  1. I would think a professional footballer should have some basic abilities like being able to run with or without the ball, pass the ball to a team mate, not standing around like an idiot with your hands on your hips, waiting for the ball to arrive when the opposition players want it, and so on, even when playing out of position. Fact is, the players showed no ability whatsoever in that match. You can't blame Allardyce's tactics for the players being hung over.
  2. Found some great comments here: I think there's a fine line. More teams from England/Spain/Italy would be ridiculous and take the spice out of it, but more clubs like Rosenborg would drop the quality. I think there's an alright balance as it is, it's good to have some variety and occasionally you get clubs like Ajax in the 90s or Porto a few years ago who go on and win it. I know they're not as bad as Rosenborg, but I think it's good to have all corners of Europe represented, so long as it's just one club from these countries and they've had to qualify all the way to the group stage. It must be said that Rosenborg are a much better team than Derby.
  3. Babayaro, of course. He's useless. Ramage has the least talent, but he makes up for it by showing up from time to time. Carr has had a few decent performances, Pattison is a youngster, and Ameobi is bloody fantastic compared to the rest. Which is sort of ironic, considering he's shit.
  4. Or simply not English. Personally, I want to see England humiliated.
  5. They're also fairly wealthy, so it's not like they can't afford paying for it. And then they don't have to suffer all that small-talk.
  6. No idea. Please tell. To Kirkland, I suppose? He was very good.
  7. According to Wikipedia, Chris Mort is currently held up in talks with Diego Swarfega. Which kind of explains why we haven't signed Faye and Beye. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Diego_Swarfega&oldid=154789762
  8. Should be made a sticky for the rest of the day, tbh.
  9. Eiður Guðjohnsen, perhaps. Fuck it, we're only signing Beye and Faye, why are people expecting a big trophy signing on panic signing day? No panic signings is a good sign.
  10. Have we managed to sell Pattison yet? If not, then Dyer because of injury. I'd actually expect him to have a good first season at West Ham, since he's a good player when fit and properly motivated (and being at a new club should motivate him).
  11. Where is wor Joey? I saw a similar list the other week, and he came out as the winner.
  12. I thought he was pretty good myself. Hadn't seen him play left back before, so I was quite impressed with his reading and interception of passes. His main problem was lack of creativity in the delivery; he did miss out on a couple of chances to make a quick counter-attack, but as a left back he can't really be blamed for our poor attacks.
  13. Dyer is booed already, so if he leaves... Super Sib will be applauded, as he's harmless.
  14. There should be a reward for this. Oh well, I'll add Helge Haugen. He's not a Premiership player, though.
  15. In his later years, that may be correct, in the sense that he wouldn't have scored more than 20 league goals in the 2003-2004 season if he had been partnered with Carl Cort. That doesn't make Shearer a poor player, it just means Bellamy made it easier to play to his strengths. OTOH, I don't think anyone would suggest that Cort would be as good as Shearer if only he'd been given a proper run of games with Bellamy. Shearer was only "shite" on his own, as Graeme Souness later set out to prove. But don't let sense get in the way of your hatred for Craig Bellamy.
  16. WTF Someone has a lot of spare time All of those jokes are from collections of jokes about Chuck Norris. He wouldn't need more time than it takes to paste them into Word and run a search and replace. In other words, those people impressed with this guy are really expecting him to be Chuck Norris. They are bound to be disappointed.
  17. No. Everyone rates Shearer. Well, everyone except KingDawson. And the stick Shearer gets is generally because he has/had far too much power at the club, and perhaps that he should have retired earlier instead of keeping potentially more useful players out of the team.
  18. From what I read, it wasn't a muscle strain, though, but rather some weird nerve pressure thingy. I've seen something like that happen to a friend, and it was hilarious. Obviously very painful.
  19. On the bottom there, some words from our favourite geordie striker:
  20. I notice that he's forgotten to rate Bolton.

    Satisfied?

Delighted. But we still need a new right back.
