What a pisstake. Its going to end up taking another fuckin month at this rate. Fuck Charlie Chawke and his pals holding this up even longer.

    If Shearer walks....

Keith Harris is not a buyer, he is the broker! The OP is talking about pissing off potential buyers, not Keith Harris. I doubt Harris is the hold up tbh.

    If Shearer walks....

Why would we want to piss of potential buyers? What a ridiculous suggestion. I love Shearer, but the club is more important.
  4. Was just going to say this, he thought of a football club as a rich man's toy and amusement for the weekends. His naivety was staggering. So no one thinks that his business model could have worked for other clubs? What was Ashley's single biggest mistake? The Keegan debacle? or was it the fact that he let the club play out more than half the season with Hughton and Kinnear in charge? These weren't business mistakes. What hurt Ashley the most as owner of the club was when he started to piss on the fans from a great height thinking he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it. His business model could have worked at other clubs, as it could have here, but he appointed the wrong people and fucked up nearly every decision he ever made.
  5. Yep. Should have bought Sunderland.

If SP have made their recommendations, at least we know all the bids are in and ready, so its just down to Ashley to accept one. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, it won't be too long now.
  7. I want the best manager for us. Doesnt matter who it is.

    RIP sale thread.

saved me the effort, nail on head all clubs bid what they think for players and if the selling clubs want too much they pull out........however from the time of the rooney bid, if we don't actually sign the player then it was all just to con the supporters. the Rooney bid was genuine, and he would have been a Newcastle player had Man U not bid higher, Rooney himself alludes to this. The fact we sold Given the day before to Man city, the fact that Man city were never going to sell him, or anyone for that matter. Earlier that day they'd basically said that they weren't going to sell any of their squad. It was all nonsense, surely never ever believe what a club says unless it can be verified by another. ferguson said ronaldo was going nowhere and beckham, wenger said anelka was going nowhere. man utd said they had no transfer cashand would be signing no-one else two days before signing rooney. you're supporting my point re. Rooney with that useful post. Michael Johnson on the other hand? come on, last hour of the transfer window, club that blatantly weren't selling anyone that day..... that was MY point re rooney. how many other bids do you think were made by other clubs in the last few hours ? there valuation was higher than ours and if 5-7 mill was the bid as reported then i think we got the valuation correct and they over valued him. We never wanted to sign him though. They knew fine well City wouldnt sell from the Given negotiations.

The bid for Richardson was even more ridiculous. We were never signing anyone that day.

    RIP sale thread.

Because we knew City would reject the bid. We had been negotiating with them concerning Given. Newcastle knew they had no chance of landing Johnson and it was only a smokescreen to show they were trying to do something. Just as the Richardson bid was. They knew Sunderland would never accept, but at least they were trying eh? That last day of the transfer window was a joke and the club tried to pull the wool over our eyes that they were making an effort to get players in. When in reality they didn't want to do anything other than make a profit, then prey that it would be enough to keep us up. Kinnear knew this as well. Yes man though.

That Guardian article seems a bit better researched than some of the other shite in the past few weeks.

Unfortunatly I don't believe a word the cunt says. If anything im more frustrated now than this morning.

    RIP sale thread.

Im not sure where this month shite is coming from. If Ashley is holding out, how do people know that its going to take a month. Will Ashley suddenly give up after a month and sell? Will the new owns just suddenly stump up the extra cash after a month?

    RIP sale thread.

This is starting to take the piss. All the good stories the media make up seem to be shite, then if theres a bad story reported its usually true. It seems like this anyway. Theres going to be nobody left to sign when this thing finally goes through.

    RIP sale thread.

Where have I heard that before, that's what everybody was saying when Ashley was taking over. True. All loaded clever men are clueless idiotic cunts.

Hope this is true. Loaded, and a very clever man by the looks of it.
  17. I wouldn't say its being picky considering we know there are other bidders. If we are well run, then it doesnt matter about the other clubs. If every club in the league was well run then we would be most likely to win it, because us well run would generate more cash, and be a bigger attraction to players than anyone else. I wouldnt say any of this is arrogance in the slightest. Not sure how you're even making that conclusion. Its not arrogant to expect a better owner than someone who made a fuck up of the club in the past. The lower divisions have more clubs who have spent beyond their means and are doomed to financial problems for years until the sort it out.
  18. So the only way forward is an idiot in charge spending money we don't have in the name of 'ambition'. If the club is well run, then we won't be in this league for long anyway and we'll go back up better for it, rather than still a joke club who spunks ridiculous sums on players who arent good enough.
  19. Not really, because this club can generate more cash than those clubs.
  20. Leeds and Dundee United on the train.
  21. Shepherd would be terrible. I would much rather take a chance on somebody else. We would be very very unlucky to end up with someone worse than Shepherd again. What if there is no other option? If theres no other option other than to die as a club, of course I would take Freddy back. However, from reports it seems like there ARE other options. We don't know how ambitious they will be though. With Shepherd you know he will set his sights on a return to the Prem and will make the funds available to do it. After Ashley, I'm very nervous about the motives of foreign investors unless they are minted. I would rather see the club safe and well run tbh. With that we will progress on and off the field at the correct pace. If we are well run we will get promoted anyway. Shepherd plunging us into more dept and making a fool of himself holds no attraction to me, especially considering how bad his decision making has proven to be in the past. You can be well run AND ambitious you know. This club can be both considering the potential it has to generate money. I would rather two years in this division sorting ourselves out, than spunking a load of cash we don't have up the wall and Shepherd strutting around making more ridiculous decisions in the Premier League. We would most likely end up back at square one the Shepherd way. How anyone can trust the fat c*** is beyond me. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Two years "sorting ourselves out" in the Championship is not the way to go for a club this size. We have to show our intent and make sure we are giving ourselves the best chance of blazing back into the Premier and we need an owner with the ambition to go for it. And you think Shepherd is the best man for that, despite his past failure? What past failure??? FFS 16 years spent mainly in the top half of the PL, cup finals, european qualification 13 (i think) times. You don't know your born man. Patronising bollock that. There was wrong decision after wrong decision post 2003. The man totally lost the plot and made a fool of himself on TV nearly every week. There may have been worse chairman before him, and Ashley may have been worse since, but that doesnt mean Shepherd is the right man to take over now.
  22. No they weren't, however we had a good manager to pick the players then. When Shepherd started picking the players and appointing shit managers to spend the cash, it all went to pot. His decision making was terrible. I can't believe as many people are sticking up for him.
  23. I would probably look at Shepherd as stupid rather than ambitious. Throwing money at the wrong people isnt ambitious, just utter stupidity and totally risky.

Probably, but Ashley is a terrible example of doing it that way. He didn't practice what he preached and has made shocking decisions. We were anything but well run. There arent two ways of running a football club, the Ashley way and the Shepherd way. Boths are fuckin shit ways to run a football club.
