Last year, no chance, zilch. This year? I think there's a good chance. Might even be worth a fiver at the bookies.

Been a good servant to the club over the years and was often a delight to watch, good luck Nobby.

Bramble to play a blinder, or a blunder? Glad Sibi's not playing, would have hated it if he'd scored.

That would be you, seeing as your IP matches. Goddamn cyber-sleuth!

Somebody has updated Deco's personal info to say current club is Newcastle Utd and squad number 8.

What Sam had to say link about Faye back in Nov, 2005.

Wouldn't that be better to La Cuca Caracha tune?

Still struggling to get to grips with the fact we are about to have a real defence for the first time in..... errr, the first time? The potential is certainly there now to have a lot of clean sheets at least.

Put a lot of thought into that contribution did you?

It's not just this country, it's a worldwide phenomenon. Finding a paper that sticks to impartiality and the truth is a rare event in the current climate. Got so bad that an awful lot of people are having difficulty in recognising the truth when they see it.

Just been watching Kerlon Moura Souza, I'd be happy with him as our AM. I would actually start paying money to watch football again. What an audacious talent.
-
He was as much a spectator as the crowd at times during the boro game. If his role has been defined to him it either doesn't suit him or he doesn't agree with it.

Just read this morning their take on the Mido chants and the subsequent journalistic efforts on faithfully reporting it to the nation. .Com have got it spot on as far as I'm concerned.

Other than Smith or Butt for Emre, I'd agree with that. Not convinced by Emre. Some will blame the managers etc for his poor showings so far, I prefer to blame the player. From what I saw today I'd have Butt ahead of Geremi and Barton a shoe-in for Smith, welcome back Emre.

Can't find any fault in that post ohmelads, summary is spot on for me. Couldn't believe the amount of time and space Rochenbau and Arca were given in the first half, particularly the former. If Sam had been on the ball he'd have been down on the touchline before twenty minutes were up getting things changed to close them down. This 4-3-3 is getting tedious already, fine, play it if you have the players for it but it's not working now. And now is all that really matters.

My sentiments also, always had the club at his heart despite not being good enough in the end, think some of the hatred towards him isnt appropriate! Hatred is never appropriate really, won't get you anything except more of the same.

LB's: Enrique, Babayaro, Zoggy. CB's: Rozenhal, Cacapa, Faye, Taylor. RB's: Carr. Am I the only one that thinks any of our 4 CB's (assuming Faye completes move) could do a better job at RB than Carr? Add Geremi or Solano in desperation and maybe Sam thinks the position is covered until he gets who he really wants January or end of season.

Anyone know pubs that show the game? It'll be on in Shearers bar I suppose?
-
Would the Chinese and Icelandic rumours not make more sense if Ashley had been toying with the idea? Personally I think it's a story that's developed over a few pints between the journalist and his mates talking a 'what-if' scenario in the pub. When you've had a few beers things can fit together much better than when scrutinized with method and endeavour. But there may be some mileage in the story, it's not completely the daftest thing I ever heard. Watch this space.

Bad news if we don't get another RB in, wonder if Sam has any rabbits in the hat?

Interesting thread. I don't have anything to add to the main debate regarding the right strikers but I did want to ask a question regarding points raised about the Villa game. I was over in Cumbria camping and only heard the commentary, and it wasn't terribly complimentary. It seems the team reverted to a 4-4-2 after Owen came on. Sam even claimed in comments after the game he changed it twice. I would suggest that not much changed at all really, as changing the appearance (shape) without changing the style (long balls) isn't worth much. Would that assumption be correct? I find it a tad disconcerting if true. Roeder was strongly criticised for his inability to change things when they clearly needed changing and leaving it way too late when he did make a change. I'm hoping this was just a case of Sam desperately wanting a clean sheet and not having the players on the bench he needed to really change things. If with a full and fit squad there's more of the same I'm afraid I'll draw the conclusion that whilst Sam is an innovator in many ways when it comes to tactics he's really rather one dimensional.

I saw a bid has been accepted for Yakubu today, (BBC). I think they're going to be in real trouble this season relying on Aliadiere and Mido. Comfortable win for us, 2 or 3 nil.
