    Dear Kevin Keegan

Hat off to the man for standing up for his principles. I certainly enjoyed it while it lasted. Cheers & Good Luck!!
  2. He either wants money (which is due to him-not as the brochure said!) or he wants certain control over transfers to stop this fiasco happening again...
  3. On one hand there is too much work for a manager to do as well as hunting out transfer targets and on the other hand they will not like having players forced on to them by a "virtual manager" from above. It would probably only work when both manager and DOF know each other well and are comfortable with each others philosophies and the club's strategy. P.S. Wise's leeds team played decent football as far as I can remember, you would think him and Kev would have eneough in common to see each others football philosophies work!!
  4. I also agree that the set up seems very logical and theoretically it should work and we should only get better with a lower outlay than other clubs... Who's responsible for the spanner in the works? -Keegan for having a hissy fit when players he wanted didn't come in/players being sold without adecuate replacements... -Wise for not vetoing the players keegan wanted in because he saw that they didn't concur with his/club's strategy/ wanting to sell players who were obviously dead wood...
  5. We have enough options to play different tactics... 4-4-2: Beye Colo Taylor Enrique Jonas Guthrie Nacho Zoggy Owen Xisco/Martins 4-3-3: Beye Colo Bassong Enrique Jonas Barton Guthrie Owen Xisco Martins 4-1-3-2: Beye Colo Bassong Enrique Butt Jonas Nacho Guthrie Owen Martins
  6. From what I can pick up fron the press (oh no!) and the forums it is Ashley who has calmed things down and is looking for a solution. Keegan is right that he should ultimately control transfers but it should be done in conjunction with wise and company i.e. Keegan says I want a left back who has to be quick and able to play the ball out of defence, Team Wise look at their databases and wittle down 5 or 6 options and show them to Keegan who then says "one of those three please", Team wise then open talks and if needed Keegan speaks to player and transfer is done. If Team Wise wants to sell a first teamer it has to be vetoed with Kev, he is THE MANAGER and he should know who is productive to the team. Quite simple really if they work together, if there is a clash of personalities then it won't work as people will just make the others impossible. Also if both sides have different objectives and aren't in synch with the club philosophy then it won't work. I personally think that it is a good idea as long as Keegan has the last say on first teamers, wise and co can have total power on young signings for the future...
  7. I would go along with that. I reckon Ashley is more of a peacemaker between Keegan, Llambias and Team Wise when they don't see eye to eye. That is of course a role that the owner should play; make sure that all depts get on with each other and understand their roles and how the system/club works. This previous sentence is where Kev has his problenms..
  8. Aye, it is a good description, fits with what keegans schematic is for the team; Hardworking in defence and attack...

    Dennis Wise

I think dennis wise and the spanish blokes have done very well so far; Bassong (young under 21 international), Gutierrez (good money-quality player), Coloccini (Big money - consistency/international), Guthrie (young and decent-good price), Xisco (young but unknown?), Gonzalez (international-playmaker). What they haven't done is to ship out smith, ameobi which is also part of their job description, or was that Kev who blocked them...oops!
  10. Ashley has deffo turned the club into a more serious business, there are no more silly signings and the people who have come through the door have obviously been well researched and are players who could realistically be at the club for another 7-8 years. I also like the fact that we don't throw silly titbits to the press and we let them dig large holes for themselves. The obvious drawback is that Keegan feels his authority is dwindling if the "rumours/speculation" are true in that the club was willing to sell Smith/Milner behind his back. I have my doubts that this is completely true, I expect Keegan was satisfied if he got the players in exchange for sellingthese players. My personal take is this: I would have been more than happy offloading smith (ecstatic) to everton and at 12.000.000 it was too good to be true for Milner! I, like Keegan, would have hoped for another two signings and think that perhaps there were strings pulled above keegans head and new players were not searched for with the vigour that is required. Keegan has got into a hissy and should just get on with his job, yes, he has reason to moan but not enough to quit!!
  11. Just like to say.... I TOLD YOU SO!! Why did everyone believe a chinese whisper by our "oh so friendly" media chums???
  12. Which you are one of. And he calls other cretins ...halfwit. At page 33 and still going... Any FACTS yet? PK, please use any of the above to describe yourself... probably fall short???
  13. 17 pages b ased on funk all! What a bunch of cretins! Sorry, but it's the truth!
  14. By the way, where did all these rumours come from? Why does everyone now believe the barstewards who are always spinning negative crap about us? Why is it strange to have a board meeting after a transfer window? I don't think he's resigning, he's probably having a go becuase he was promised something and that wasn't delivered, I would think that our scouting team and director of football would be in deeper shitee than Keegan for the lack of activity... I also agree with somebody's statement earlier that we will get better with Ashley at the helm but it will be slower than we expect!

Coloccini...Coloccini Whoa oooo ooh What a perm.. (na na naaa na, na na naaa na....)
  17. With 10 million in the bank I think we should be able to get a replacement as good as or better than Milner... He is a good hard worker and has some skills, would get into many first teams but for me he lacks the vital ingredient which is getting a decent pinpoint cross in, it is so hit and miss with James... Saying that, the people who want lennon in will get the same quality, he has the pace but his final ball is average!
  18. Watched the Arsenal game and they were awful, totally dominated by a decent Fulham team, believe it or not! Van persie and adebayor didn't get any decent service and therefore no goal threat, Fulham pressured very well and made the midfield make a lot of mistakes, that denilson kid gave the ball away every other pass in thefirst half. If we pressure well we may get a nice result...

    Harper or Given?

What surprised me yesterday was his commanding performance on corners and high balls into our box, seems like he can actually punch balls out...
  20. Spot on comparison!! He's a subtle striker with pace, when he played for Barca he was used in quite a few positions and is very versatile, he has a calm head on him around the box and can play as a lone striker but I think he is best playing just behind the main striker (vids or Martins).
  21. I agree completely, Butt's saving grace is that he can tackle well and harries well, but if we are to progress we need a DM who can actually pass the ball and who is more positive. Butt's experience is also an advantage but he's too slow and his passing is too limited, we need a cutting edge in the middle of the park. Guthries passing and ability to dictate the tempo is amazing for his age and his experience, I think Keegan just may have signed another Rob/Gary!!!!!!!!
  22. We did very well today and a draw is an amazing result. Three good debuts aswell which makes me positive about the future. Anyway my bit: Given (9)- Glad he proved me wrong, i thought he was finished on his performances from last season but his reflex saves and his determination saved us early on. He has also developed his saves for crosses, was very commanding today. Only negative was his kicking late on. Beye (6) - Didn't look too good and they got a hell of a lot of crosses and corneers from him, he was complaining a lot by the looks aswell, suppose lack of pre-season could be something... Taylor (8) - Didn't do anyhting wrong and was very aggresive throughout, good partnership with colo for this game, complemented each other well. Pity he limped off and then they scored!! Coloccini (7) - Shaky start with some dodgy clearances, but improved immensly in the second half and looked very composed. Seems to have a knack of being in the right place... Great start considering where he was and his lack of pre-season with us! Zoggy (6) - He's not a left back , but he did well for most of the game and got forward to support Jonas which is what keegan will have wanted. Would like a decent left back before window closes. Enrique?? Jonas (9) - Change of pace, moves both inside and out, a winger who can actually take on the defender. This is what we have been missing since Ginola & Robert, except much better 'cos this bloke can also defend and isn't workshy...Go on yasell!!! Guthrie (7) - Didn't get an eight cos he didn't get forward enough for me, good tackle and good control of the game . Great signing?? We'll see. Butt (6) - was ok and did what he had to do, try and protect the back four... His negative passing is something that needs to be rectified if we want a cutting edge in midfield. Replace with somebody younger with more fight in them??? Milner (6) - worked his socks off but for me lacks that bit of "class" needed to get past a player and create openings. When owen/viduka come back I would have duff on the wing instead of him. Duff (7) - was involved in a lot of our attacking play but was playing too deep to be of any help to oba butthast could have been keegans gameplan to play 5 midfielders. Oba (8) - Great header and could have had a second but wasn't expecting it TBF. Very alone up front against the best central defenders in the league, desperately needs owen or vids. Keegan (8) - What a change! Going to Man utd and coming away with a point, going there and battling for 90 minutes, taking the game to them when we had the ball...Keegan is our King! Only negative was that we arrived quite a few times out wide and there was nobody waiting in the box, play went backwards and we consequently lost the ball. need another forward and a midfielder to arrive in the box...
  23. Duff hasn't been playing badly, just he hasn't supported Oba at all, he plays better out wide...
  24. I think we should put milner up front with martins and duff on the wing. I would also take butt off and put Geremi on, can't be any worse can he?
