Freedom of speech! The first thing that dictates on here is the TITLE, although sometimes misleading, it usually sets the tone for the whole debate and generally makes the following posts a tone negative or positive. The parker issue is a good example: -we all focus on his "spins" and lengthy passing time (for him this could easily be: security first and find a player) -we don't focus on his competitiveness, ferocity, dedication to the cause (enough)?? -we forget the spectacular season the year before when everyone had him down on teamsheet first??? In general this board is very good, apart from the personal spats between some, and our only reference are the other newcastle forums (complete twaddle!) and other teams forums (only one or two decent ones!).

The only one I'd take out of the equation is Ramage, and solely for his inadequate passing skills. Give the lad credit ,he does look more sure in the centre than on the left or right . A new left back and centre back at crimbo would be better than any of the socks, boxers, sweets, beer ...etc. that I will recieve this crimbo!!

Shaman, good post! Teazy, good points there. I think that we should pass it out of defence to draw the other teams players further forward and perhaps opening them to the quick counter attack. The only person really capable of doing this is Nobby, if we were to buy a decent left back and central defender in the window we could perhaps bring the ball out through the defence and quickly slot it through the midfield (quick transitional play :winking:)to our attacking players. I don't think Roeder will will keep to the same winning formula and Parker will be back in the team, perhaps cos' he's the team captain or perhaps for the outstanding play the year before when he was the one who really rallied the troops. I think that he could be told/taught to release the ball quicker and more positively (he also needs options!) but I also think that it would be to our detriment to have two defensive midfielders in our team, it's Butt or parker in the middle but not both and on form it has to be Butt hands down. Let's see what he does on saturday? A game for the taking if you ask me...

Spurs are so inconsistent that you can't really predict a lot, they aren't a huge team so at least we won't get bullied like we will at bolton and everton. In Bilbao (Northern Spain - Basque Country), we are held in extremely high regard (godlike status nearly!) and are EVERYBODY'S second team. All of this due to the football, fun and high jinx that went on in the keegan era when we played them in the waffa in 94-95 season.

the main reason people start to insult is because they have lost the argument through reasonable debate. or a lack of manners and common etiquete. :cool:

the sad fact of the matter is that if we had a half decent defence who were able to pass the ball out of defence (see: arse, chelsea, mancs...) we wouldn't need a keeper who knows his only half option is to "lump it" :roll:

Central defender (Distin) Left Back (bridge/Baines) Striker (Viduka) *Right back if budget allows and we manage to sell luque* I reckon we could get these three for 10 million and only viduka would be a stop gap, doesn't play badly when he's up for it... Nobby has made the right back position more tenable and the centre of defence needs someone to accompany taylor. If we get shola and owen back next summer we should have enough firepower to manage us through a "normal" season.
