  1. Maybe so. I personally don’t see an engaged ownership.
  2. My question would be more why is the position still not filled? We’ve had the best part of a year knowing that eales will be leaving. Yet we we appear to wait until the end of the second transfer window after finding out that news to do anything about it. I don’t see an engaged, knowledgable or capable ownership. I see another rudderless disappointing summer where we’ve needlessly alienated key players and failed to address an inadequate playing squad. It’s boring and stupid.
  3. I mean the Saudis. I don’t think they’re invested and nor do I think they know how to run a football club successfully.
  4. Goodness, what an invested and knowledgeable set of owners
  5. A fourth successive failure of a window is not what a competitive club coughs up. It’s pretty damming, and demonstrates where we sit in the Saudis’ priority chain. So maddening and disappointing but this is Newcastle; every time we get in the same postcode as success it’s shat on from a great height at corporate level. Seems another rinse and repeat.
  6. It literally could be a coincidence. There are other people who travel to and from places by air.
  7. Could you set out for me what you understand that word “proving” to mean, focusing on its close relation to factual evidence?
  8. Lived the dream. Shame no opportunity for a proper send off.
  9. Club and all journalists associated with it have repeatedly said we won’t sell Isak
  10. MGW makes point by wearing spurs colours…
  11. His Baconnaise is chatting to him again.
  12. The amount of ITK cockteasing in this thread is remarkable
  13. It is difficult to know whether time sometimes taken is because we’re trying to pry good players away from clubs who don’t really want to sell (at all or at the price we want to pay) on quite complex terms on a very weird budget, or because the internal mechanism at our end for doing so is comparatively slow. I think a combination of all 3. Perhaps also not being as high on PIF’s list of priorities as we want. They’re tantalisingly close to delivering a brilliant squad, it’s oddly nail-biting in the slowest of ways.
  14. Probably to be replaced by some more massive wages
  15. You could be correct. I think it must be something that goes through their mind: am I going to play? A manager will always offer warm words in this regard, but looking at the competition in my position, am I going to play lots? I think he’d play quite a lot, because in my view he’d be ahead of miley and willock on the depth chart. My question is, is that enough for him? Quite possibly it is. Slight concern that it might make Miley seek minutes elsewhere given the rumblings of wanting more playing time, but that’s a risk worth taking in my view.
  16. Respectfully I don’t think that’s what I’m saying. I think a good agent would say - and I think Howe would say - you’ve every chance of minutes if you earn them but that’s a competitive starting midfield 3. With that said, injuries and fixtures mean time will likely be available, and you’ll get a fair chance to impress. That may well be enough for him, but if the logic in leaving is to become an automatic regular (which he hasn’t been much in his career I don’t think), then this might not be the move for him.
  17. You may well be correct, although a good agent would be in his ear saying you aren't an automatic starter here, look at their midfield (although Joelinton gets injured lots and they have a lot of games).
  18. Strikes me as odd he'd swap being a rotational option for being a rotational option, unless he wants to come back to England or AM need the money. Certainly enhances midfield options and would open up the possibility of more Joelinton on the wing if we want to keep a tighter defensive structure or just kick the shit out of an irksome right back.
  19. The English were pretty bad before it went international anyway…
  20. Yes, longstaff out norgaard in would have been clever squad management in my view, although perhaps he likes being in London and going to kids parties with joao pedro
