If it is Redknapp, how many more years can toon fans put up with this managerial merry-go-round? We need a top boss who's won stuff, otherwise its only a matter of time before we are back where we are now.

Only at Newcastle would the supporters rightly want the best manager possible, only to be given one equally as good/bad as the last one, and be in the same position 18 months down the line. The question is, can Redknapp win us some trophies and get us back in the top 6 league placings consistently? Not that Pompey are better than Newcastle, and it will be great again.

Yeah I agree that Redknappy is a decent manager, and i would have taken him over SA. Problem is, he will need to improve performances immediately, cos if the majority of fans arent happy with the signing (which it looks like) then he faces a hard hard task. Get someone in who everyone likes, and its a bit easier. We have a hard seasons-end, and he wont have much time to bring in new faces. Would still expect he can improve us though.

Unless you get the match for free with your ST, i really don't see a whole lot of attraction with this one, especially as Arsenal away is the next opponent. The club has admitted as much as they don't expect many, with them hinting they wanted to reduce prices, but Stoke wouldn't agree. I'd guess a crowd of around 25,000 - which is still pretty bloody good. If Allardyce was still in charge could well have been under 20k, but IF a new manager is announced before the game, crowd could be as much as 40k i reckon.

That would be making the assumption that Ashley and Mort have good knowledge of the game. They remain unproven, so you can't say how good or bad the appointment is going to be. You could also argue that their limited knowledge of the game will make them say "lets get Mourinho here" rather than thinking "hmmm Hughes sounds alright" Plus, who's to say they know less than most on here, who all would like the big foreign names.
