Don't you dare say you would've posted this message had the score been 3-2 to them. I know I for sure wasn't feeling heartened at the entertainment value after the 4-3 defeats at Anfield. But yes, since we did win, I agree with your post.

Milner is coming up to 23 now and has been playing regular Premiership football for the best part of 6 years. You'd have thought if he was ever going to become an 8-10 goal a season man or improve his crossing/corners, he would have done by now. Stephen Glass with pace?
-
See the problem with that comparison is that Geremi is 29 and Mliner is 22. You might have a point for this season, but that reason alone isn't enough to justify offloading Milner. In my opinion - long term - Milner is a fantastic attacking midfield prospect. I think he's been found out a bit as a winger as his pace hasn't developed as much as many had originally hoped, and his crossing ability isn't particularly fantastic, but his ball control and footballing mind is, in my opinion, very underrated. Let's not fall into the trap of rating foreigners higher than English players just because of their exotic mysteriousness. Sometimes it feels like X<X+Not English. Who are you, and why are you missing the point so entirely?

his all round play CAN be poor. Just as Owen's can be non-existant His all round play IS GENERALLY poor is closer to the truth tbh. Owen's contribution CAN be non-existent. Do you see the difference? And I think most can see it but don't like to admit it. your truth is my lie then, that's life he was immense at old trafford last week imo...yesterday i felt he suffered (as he does a lot at home) from tight marking/being crowded out there are DIFFERENT types of player you know? martins strength in one area is another strikers weakness...that's why you need strikers of varying styles martins will excel, and did at the end of last season, when he's got space to exploit but at home he's less likely to get that playing on his own than he would be with owen or viduka...duff was with him yeserday and was utterly unable to do anything to create space for martins to use to me your argument is like critising a big physical CB who is very good in the air for being shit on the ground, or a smaller attacking FB for not being as good in the air name me some COMPLETE strikers in the english game these days...i can think of torres, maybe drogba, most everyone else i can think of have gaps in their game and in that i include being injury prone Sorry like but you don't get to say that there aren't many complete strikers in the game, so it's ok for Martins to have gaping holes in his. that's not actually what i said though is it gemmill? try again Looks a lot like what you've said to me. You asked me to name complete strikers, presumably to prove your argument that there aren't many, therefore it's ok for Martins to not be one. I responded by pointing out that Martins is far from just not quite being the complete striker. I've conceded that he'll get the odd goal because he's quick and can exploit spaces but I think that we can expect a lot more from him when he's required to get involved in the match. For instance, I'm a big fan of footballers who can control the ball and then find a teammate with a pass. Which precludes me from being a big fan of Martins. i'm a big fan of footballers who actually earn their money on the football pitch for the club that pay their wages, which precludes me from being a big fan of michael owen we could do this dance all day...i don't actually believe the above but it highlights strange your point is, to pick this facet when it's not actually the main part of martins game, some of the best goalscorers in the past have had limited games (rush, lineker et al) i think i've made my case reasonably well but i'll repeat it - we've got a striker who can do a few things very well and other teams struggle to cope with him when he does them (martins) & we've another 2 strikers who are the same but for different reasons (owen/viduka) why aren't you complaining about owens inability to stretch opposing teams with his devastating pace? because he can't do it anymore, it's not his game, it's martins's i can see your point, totally, but it's a moot one imo when you're asking a player to perform a function that's not his strength then criticising him for not being great at it as for your point in bold i guess it precludes you from being a fan of nicky butt, damien duff, james milner & alan smith as well? or are they somehow immune to this? why pick martins, he's more of a threat than anyone in our squad except arguably owen (i don't see spiderman having proven it yet)

To think there were a few on here who didn't rate Deco when we were rumoured to be interested in him. Always been class.
-
Once again, Charlie>Duff. How many times that has been written or said, I've lost count. Probably just as many times as 'not a LB, needs to be pushed up.'
-
Enrique's fantastic, no need to replace. Let him find his feet in the Prem. Although for numbers' sake alone Warnock wouldn't be a bad idea. At least then Zoggy can play attacking mid.

The email thread to a mate at work when I read the news: From: Me Subject: The greatest transfer coup of 2008 Update: Thursday brought unconfirmed media claims that Alan Smith had travelled to Merseyside for a medical with Everton - verification/denial of this is awaited. Yes! YES YESSS! Reply from him (he's an Arsenal fan): Watch him be used as a proper striker and have a 30 goal season. ---- Do people who're unfamiliar with him actually hold this view? Fascinating. Explains why someone's actually ready to pay us money for him.
-
Any kind of attempt to still defend him is even worse.

Getting sick and tired of all this constant Shola-bashing. Here's a player who has at least given us SOME sort of service, in his goals, assists and has actually won us games and got us some points, compared to Smith, Carr, etc. He seems to have become an easy target, with only his negative points (of which there are several) being taken into account when he's spoken of. Yes, he should not be here; yes, he's pretty shite, but still unpredictable, and has and is still capable of giving more to the team than Smith ever will. Lay the fuck off him. If he doesn't want to leave, let him rot in the reserves. All this "phone him and tell him he's shite" is fuckin' childish.

I know, they usually like beating kids into a pulp. And paying them 12 cents for doing so.
-
I still think Tayls can't head a ball to save his life. Any long ball towards him and he's a fish out of the water, a la O' Brien and Bramble.
-
Learn what, exactly?
-
Ameobi>Smith. The latter needs shot first.
-
Fucking asshole, Tooj. Not funny!
-
R.I.P. Was quite popular in Uganda, too.
-
I still hate Slaven Bilic for that awful piece of cheating/play acting which got Laurent Blanc booked and therefore out of the World Cup final. Absolute fucking cunt Croats should've ended up in the final that year, tbh. Class team, that was.
-
Is this a joke? Have you never read any of NE5's threads or posts before?
-
Alright, since we finally have a Spurs room in this mansion, lemme spin the first spoke: So whaz-the-deal, is Berbs leaving, or what?
-
Now that was a sick team. Used to love Ivan Zamorano.
-
Shearer won the league once Yeah I know that. My point was that when Nugent retires, both him and Alan will have 1 major medal each and proves how lucky some players can be. Does Alan Smith have a medal?
-
Calling Zlatan overrated simply means you have no idea what sort of player he is. You mention how many goals he has scored and how many from the spot, but it's actually his skill, touch, control and link-up game with his teammates that makes him what he is. He's never gonna get you 25-30 goals a year on a regular basis, but he is going to make sure goals are created some way or the other.

I caught myself arshavin the other morning. Turns out I needed a new razor blade. ...

Is it safe to gel baby hair into mohawks and stuff? Always wondered.
