Roy Carroll 2.71 Stephen Bywater 2.28 Shay Given 1.95 I assume this stat is goals conceded per game... doesn't quite tally up with Shay conceding one every 44 minutes if so.......

I have to say, as much as .com annoys me at times, it's a fantastic site, with a lot of stuff that is well worth reading. That match report was excellent imo, but going beyond that I re-read their review of Shearer's testimonial the other day (came up in 'On this day' or whatever it's called) and it was superb.

Been doing the rounds for some time. Reckon he'd be a good signing for them.

I can honestly say Spurs' prices are sickening, isn't it £70+ for a ticket in the east stand atm? I know I know someone who paid £65 to see Liverpool last season, I can only assume they've gone up since then. Also, out of interest rather than piss take, did Spurs ever sell out pre Martin Jol? I'm convinced they didn't, which makes new stadium talk seem premature, but I could well be wrong. Also, you're not fucking wrong you dodged a bullet with Duff. Offering £2m more than us for the player is a strange way of doing it though
-
By the way, bet on Arshavin and 2-0, and Darcheville with Zenit winning 2-1, to make sure I've got more of an interest in the game.
-
Not too sure about that betting. If you just want Zenit to win you could have just backed Zenit to win the competition on Betfair, it's 1.64 so you would have won £25.60 less commission for your £40 stake.

Who, then?

Fair play to him. You think you'll have much to spend this summer? Decent chance of kicking on if you get in one or two class players and strengthen the squad a bit imo.
-
I agree to an extent, but I quite like the idea of us having Lua Lua/Tozer etc. on the bench more often and giving them the opportunity to show what we can do in games we've already won. It will benefit the biggies more, but it isn't without its advantages for the rest of us.
-
Didn't we name four players on the bench on occasion under Souness? I've got a feeling we may have done it in a UEFA game when Lewis Guy got on the pitch. Probably a good thing overall, but as others have mentioned it will make it easier for Chelsea and ManU to sign players so others can't have them, and keep them happier than they would otherwise.

SWP is a class act who's stagnated at Chelsea. If he can recover some of his Citeh form he'd be an excellent acquisition. Would be my preferred choice of those in this pole by some distance.
-
I concur Daveeed. This would get the summer off to a very good start, if it goes through, and leave us to concentrate on getting in someone who's both a midfielder AND not shit.
-
There's something that tickles me a bit about Titus Bramble's biggest supporter during his time here being at such pains to criticise another centre back.

Howard Sagna Ferdinand Lescott Evra Ronaldo Essien Fabregas Young Torres Santa Cruz James, Vidic, Gerrard, Cahill, Rooney

I agree Baggio. Think the board would run more smoothly with one tbh.

Not a chance

He did win us the Derby like. You're thinking of Paul McShane
-
Bentley would be a fantastic signing.
-
After a few years of regression, we now have the right manager to potentially take us to the next level. I'm very excited, and hope this oppertunity is taken. Could be a very interesting summer.

Some quality posts on this page in particular, especially GypsyKing, very good read.
-
Good point, he was in a spot of financial bother before he joined us.
-
Completely wrong. Old-style (Freddy Shepherd) "one-off" trophy signings will achieve nothing, other than confirm that we are still second-rank 'triers / failures'. That doesn't make any sense. So buying a world class player at a high fee would confirm us as second rank triers? What would buying second rank players do then?
-
No, but do you think they'd get as much money from sponsers if fewer people read?
