Whole Brighton team has been good, but when watching their midfielders I think of Longstaff and think we can really improve our team “easily”. And I like Longstaff. Impressive from Brighton.

If the right player is available that we really want and there’s a deal to be done why wait until the summer? Someone please explain this to me? Why stand “still” IF we can improve our chances now already when it comes to reaching top 4. Even if we don’t make the CL then we have signed a player that improves us. It’s one less signing to make in the summer. By saying this I wish to clarify that I don’t think we should sign a player for the sake of it, or thinking short term. I’d like to think that we are attractive enough now for most players, or players that are more than good enough for now and the long term. I mean we might even be more attractive now compared to say that we don’t strengthen and risk not making the top 4 and try for players in the summer instead. Personally I can see the club rebalancing its budget. At least I hope so if there’s the right deal to be done. i don’t understand the “we don’t need” to.

A quality signing or two with the right mentality and character won’t harm the squad harmony at all. If anything it will give a boost and belief to the whole club and its fan base that we can do even better, or at least help us to maintain our momentum. Some of the fringe players or the players that are about to become fringe players know that there’s ambition and that we are looking to improve all the time. This doesn’t mean that we should sign players for the sake of it. Players want the team and club to get better and better. It’s not school yard football, it’s at the very highest level where the winners want more and more improvement both individually and as a whole collectively. The club will improve if there’s the right deal to do and rightly so. It’s a whole different scenario doing it the circus style like Chelsea. But we aren’t that thankfully. We are more likely to get bad “squad harmony” if we get some injuries to key players and start suffering result wise. Winning is what keeps squads motivated and happy. Competition shouldn’t be a cause of concern.

Away first leg is the best thing about it. Couldn't have hoped for a better draw. Southampton can be really good like so one can never underestimate them. Howe will have us as ready as possible.

I like Longstaff but he’s limited technically and slow on the turn and often needs quite a bit of time on the ball. I think Bruno will hit his true heights once he has another top class CM playing with him. Credit to Longstaff and his attitude, I just don’t see him being a regular starter for us after this or the next summer window. Great to have around and in the squad.
