No parade through the city then?

Think this must be the only time I'm not really pissed we haven't got a game for a couple of weeks. I'm enjoying just basking in the trophy win, and the players get to really enjoy it as well.

The players won't believe their eyes when they see the roads packed with fans.

I think all of us would want CL ideally, but it's nice to have the fallback of a very doable chance of a European trophy regardless.

While obviously I still want Champions League, the chance to add more silverware by winning the Europa Conference cup is now looking decidely inviting.

Feels like a new start tbh, like this team doesn't have to prove anything any more.

I don't think he gets enough credit for his technical ability really. Yes he can have days when it bounces off him, but on days like yesterday, his touch was sublime, like when he took a long ball down on his thigh before pivoting to lay the ball off to a teammate. Yes he can crash about the pitch causing carnage among the ranks, but he often comes out with the ball, evades a couple of tackles before sending one of our players away in space. Opposition players must absolutely dread facing him.

As a sidenote, thought Slot was very gracious in defeat, kudos to him for being above all the petty stuff which was a trademark of Klopp.

On reflection, the only tiny downside for me about this win was that it ended up only being 2-1. Isak was a whisker away from converting Barnes cross which would have made it 3-0, and that would have been such a fitting scoreline for so many reasons. But 'tis a minor quibble tbh.

I think it should have stood, but I'm also glad it didn't because then we might not have scored his second which was a lovely finish which no one could argue with. It all worked out great in the end.

Yep, think this cup win will raise the levels of players like Murphy to really believe they are winners.

Two different managers for two different eras. No one lifted the club like Keegan did, the man walked on water, and put us on the global map. Emotianally no one will ever surpass him in Geordie hearts, and I think that Love it we beat You video says everything. But Howe has that tactical cold side of him that you need to win trophies, and difficult to argue with silverware. He's the complete manager.

One final point before I sign off on a momentous day....teams will now fear us. We bossed the best team in England for 90 mins. Liverpool have been terrorising the PL but we brushed them aside, and now you can be sure teams will not be looking forward to playing us.

We're in Europe next season, he'll get plenty of games.

Liverpool were their main competitors before today, but they were shown who were the real deal for sure.

To think this will be only the first trophy of many he'll win here.

Never had much doubt he would turn up today, was a bit doubtful about a couple of them, but knew Bruno would show. No one deserves the legend status more.
