  1. Targett looked good when he came on. I don't think Wolves have the technical fluency that Dortmund have, so I think our secondary players will be more than good enough to get a win. By secondary I don't mean second rate, I just mean the ones who aren't superstars like Isak or Bruno.
  2. Broadly agree. I think we needed key players to unlock them and we lost both players who might have troubled them with pace. Dortmund have a good defensive record, but they don't score many so it was always going to be a tight game. They deserved their win, it was an energetic performance from them, but if we'd scored we'd have deserved the point as well.

His pace is going to be so important with Isak, Barnes and Murphy out. He can do some nice stuff on the ball as well.
  4. Ah well. At least he finished on a high.
  5. You weren't imagining it, he looked top class last night.
  6. I think we need to be at full strength to beat them though. Watching yesterday it looked like some of the players of the Bruce era were struggling. If there is enough quality around them they can step up, but Longstaff, Joelinton and Almiron didn't really do that well. I think losing Isak really hurt us as well, Wilson is great against the run of the mill PL teams, but Dortmund were pushing a lot of players forward and we missed Isak's ability to counter with pace. Isak, Barnes and Murphy missing takes a lot of pace out of our team.

    Callum Wilson

I'll have to watch it again but looked like it came at him quite quickly in a tight space so he didn't have that much time to decide how to place his leg.

    Callum Wilson

Didn't really want him playing in this game tbh, felt it was perfect for Isak, but he did well enough in the circumstances. He didn't do much wrong with the chances he had, their keeper was fantastic.
  9. It's a fan forum, not everything has to be taken literally.
  10. Man U would have better players to call on when their big hopes for the game went down. They wouldn't be playing against CL sides with the likes of Almiron, Burn, Murphy, Longstaff, Lascelles, Joelinton etc. Otherwise they'd have bought them long ago.
  11. We were much better in the second half for sure. But we lost because we had too many players in the first half who were more scared of the occasion than Dortmund.

    Kieran Trippier

I don't think he did much wrong, it was the players in front of him who couldn't cope. Longstaff and Almiron both struggled with this level of technique. It's a lot easier against Sheffield Utd and Crystal Palace.
  13. I was a bit surprised he didn't start tbh, considering he is used to this type of competition. He looked class anyway when he came on, he'll be a big miss in the CL for sure.
  14. The game is in two week's time. Isak would be the most important player, Murphy would have been another option to provide pace against their press. Things went against us tonight, but we also aren't in the best position to put it right in such a short span of time.
  15. I don't think a 0-1 defeat was injust, Dortmund played with purpose and confidence, felt like we ended up relying on too many players who had been part of our relegation nightmares, and losing Isak was a massive blow. I don't blame our coaching staff, there's only so much you can do with a certain level of player, and we just had too many quality players missing over 90 mins.

Looked class when he came on. Gave us all the impudence we'd been missing before that.
  17. Well Miggy's not really played like one tonight tbf, back to wing back duty I suspect.
  18. Absolutely. His involvement in the build up was one of the reasons we got the chance in the first place.
  19. We need Murphy on for Miggy as well. Some of these just don't believe tonight.
  20. Good cross Trips, no one at the far post which is a bit shit.
  21. Not for them so it's not much of an excuse really.
  22. Our players look shot confidence-wise, they are sensing it as well. Not looking great this.
  23. It's been made worse by losing Isak who offers direct pace. Miggy tends to cut back which negates his pace threat from an attack POV.
  24. Dortmund haven't scored so many this season, their weakness is in front of goal, so disappointing that we opened the door for them so late in the second half. Gordon's been one of our more positive players but that was an awful place to lose the ball when we had them scrambling. At the other end we look toothless with Almiron and Joelinton offering nothing much going forward. This was not the game we wanted Wilson over Isak.
  25. As soon as Gordon lost that ball you knew it was a goal.
