  1. Yep. Moyes is perfect for a mid-table club with not much aspirations above that status. Not good enough to challenge at the top end, but good enough to put together enough points to be a nuisance and stay clear of relegation spots.
  2. He'd be great tbh, I noticed that even the guy who replaced him on Sports Saturday is trying to copy his style of delivery.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Schar's age is probably the bigger factor, similar to Trippier. It would absolutely make sense to have one eye on the future, and if we can get some pace as an option in the CB area, all the better.
  4. By that logic, I could deliver the lines and mean what I am saying, but I'd still be shit at the job for various reasons. It's like the fans commentary version which the big TV studios provide. It's all good for a laugh, but how many people would actually listen to them? Disclaimer: that's not to say Shearer is THAT bad, he'll still be okay compared to fans, but I just feel we could have got better. It's just a narration, it doesn't HAVE to be a geordie doing it.
  5. West Ham don't really need a midfield, Moyes is basically a step up from the likes of Bruce and Pardew, but still old school at heart. Big physical players who can get stuck in, and get in where it hurts, and threat from set pieces.
  6. I was worried about that when I first read that he was going to be doing it. It's just not his forte, he's never been a great commentator for the same reason. He's quite taciturn by nature and not surprisingly, has a boring delivery. Should have got someone who is an expert regardless of where they are from. Tom Hardy did the Spurs one, he might well be a Spurs supporter, I don't know, but he's also a professional actor so knows how to deliver lines.

That's very much a Debbie Downer take like.

£40m is a fair chunk of change for a RB whose coming back from a serious injury. We obviously really rate him.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

If they would rather take less money from Sociedad then fair enough. I can't see how they would offer a better deal than us, so can only assume Arsenal would prefer to sell him abroad. Or maybe we just don't think he's worth it.
  10. @Froggy would have snapped your hand off for £30m for the pair of them, he'll shitting his pants in case West ham sack Moyes and pull the plug on the deals.
  11. It's the only way he knows how to play, what else would he do?

I don't think we are spending £40m on a player for him to be on the subs bench. I think with any player who is an up and coming star, if they are good enough they'll play. That also holds true for Elliott Anderson and Lewis Miley by the way. There's no easy route to the first team, but that applies to senior players as well. If you perform you keep your place no matter who you are.

    Harvey Barnes

Diaby is an outstanding attacking talent, so is ASM in his own way, but crucially both are considered weak team players, and are reluctant to track back. That makes them potential liabilities for the way we play. Gordon presumably puts the work in that Howe needs to implement his style, and he's shown he knows where the net is during the U-21 Euros. It's far too early to write him off, especially since he's looked sharp in the pre-seasons. It really is just about getting players who suit our system, nothing to do with how good or bad Diaby is.
  14. It might not work in the short term, but £60m for a 31 year old striker who looked like he'd faded a bit last season isn't bad business. He never looked the same without Mane.

We need to get Mike on the stadium staff asap, our fans are too unimaginative these days, a short sharp dose of 8mospheres is needed to jolt them out of their complacency.

    Harrison Ashby

I think he'd do well for us at a push tbh, I reckon you won't be disappointed.

    Callum Wilson

Think the threat of losing his place to Isak has really put him on his toes. Great news for us as he's still one of the PL's best strikers.
  18. Can't speak for what he's been like since coming back from injury, but defensively he was excellent in the takeover season.

Well if ever you were going sign a CB who isn't blessed with pace it would be him.

    Harvey Barnes

This. Surprised so many were doubtful, you can see all of those attributes in his highlights videos. Even if you are skeptical of highlight videos, 13 goals is pretty hard to argue with.
  21. He did look quicker than usual, so did Joelinton. Maybe it was the opposition.

    Joelinton

Showed some fine bursts of pace today, forgot he could motor a bit.
