    Other clubs' transfers

Spurs have signed Bruno Uvini on loan from Sao Paulo.

    Alan Smith

This too from the other games thread: Well, looks like nothing's changed.

    Alan Pardew

So many draws that season. That was probably the key factor really.
  4. Was a decent loan signing on FM all those years ago though
  5. I wonder if Carroll's like that at Liverpool.
  6. This smiley is starting to grate. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,91677.0.html

Of course its all conjecture, but I think playing HBA instead of Obertan gainst Spurs would have at least kept their defenders on their toes. With Obertan, their fullback was overlapping and we were under wave and wave of attacks. FWIW, I reckon that if Ben Arfa had started against Spurs, he would have made some sort of difference. A difference from an attacking perspective anyway, I'm sure Hatem would have given BAE a rough time down the right wing and guess that would have meant more chances for us. But, not sure if Ben Arfa's presence would have changed the overall outcome. We still would have lost imo as Spurs were simply too good - they exploited our weaknesses in CM (Guthrie/Perch were overwhelmed) and defence well. Whilst it could have been a different scoreline, it still would have been a Spurs win. Bringing Ben Arfa for Obertan in the first half wouldn't have made much difference either, the game was lost as soon as the second goal went in.

    Rangers Newco

Anyone? I find it very hard to believe that the club will cease to exist. Same here, I honestly think that a club of Rangers' stature will be able to find an investor to buy them. Though I guess it's really not that simple, we'll see. Can't see them going under unless the HMRC want to make an example out of them.
  9. Soderberg leaving doesn't come as a surprise really. Never got a proper look in (a few appearances on the substitutes bench was the best he got really) so it's best for both parties if he moves on. Still young like, so has plenty of time to develop elsewhere. Best of luck to him. Regarding his actual interview, it's good news that the camp now seems to be calmer than it was before. Whilst Barton was a team player and quite a good influence on the squad/team rapport, his Twitter ramblings were always going to be somewhat disruptive. Guess it also comes as no surprise that Carroll was a bit of a dick, what with him not "being afraid to pick a fight".
  10. It just goes on! Brilliant stuff

  12. Massive difference between this and the BBC article I posted above.
  13. Well, it's pretty obvious (to me anyway) that it's not as simple as forgive and forget. Tevez is off in the summer imo.
  14. Portsmouth are set to enter administration again.

    mattypnufc thought otherwise.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

There's one every week. As long as no-one pays attention to it, then he/the Chronicle may decide to scrap it methinks (here's hoping). Ryder's tweets are bad enough but his webchats really do take it up to the next level. He's an absolute idiot.

    The England Thread

Taking Scholes to the Euros would be a massive step backwards. He never really managed to hit his club form at the international stage either (well, towards the end of his England career anyway). We have quite a few up and coming players too so I'd rather pick them.
  18. Well it has been coming so this isn't really a surprise. Plus, someone is bound to buy them like so their future isn't in threat as such.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

That wasn't me Own up, who was it?
  20. Fortunately for us, s*** player syndrome also applies. Indeed it does. The Wolves players are hardly world-beaters like and Hennessey is also very prone to an error. Btw Steve Bruce is the joint favourite (along with Curbishley) to be the new manager at William Hill

    Alan Pardew

Alan, it would have made more sense to play 4-5-1 this time round - Guthrie/Perch vs Modric/Parker was always going to go one way really. So having an extra man in midfield could have somewhat "contained the threat" imho. Mind you, he could have tried to change it after we went 2-0 down (when changes were really needed!), for example, I would have had Ba dropping into midfield when we were defending (and have him push up when we had the ball). On the other hand, Spurs were on a completely different level to us so I guess we still would have lost even if Pardew did decide to employ the 4-5-1. Hopefully, when the likes of Cabaye and Tiote (who we have massively missed imo) are back, we won't lose in that manner ever again this season. We'll finally have a chance to see Yohan and Cheik link up with Cissé too so already there seem to be positive signs around the corner. (Just wish we didn't have to wait two weeks for the next game though!). Also, Pardew's comments of late have been weird too but it's not the first time it's happened so I'll leave at that for the time being.
  22. French mate tells me nothing but good things about M'Bengue also isnt he the lad we had a bid rejected for in the summer? We were linked with him in the summer. Can't remember if we actually made a bid though.
  23. Option 3 sounds like a good'un. (Don't take my word for it like )
