Shearer was asked on a scale of one to 10, how likely he was to become Keegan’s number two. He said: “I have no idea. “I don’t know whether, one, he wants a number two, or two, whether I would like to be one. If he were to call, I would speak to him, but it’s only tongue twistastic

So when did keegan fail , yes we missed the title but he was made promises which were not met and i believe words to the effect of "thats not what i read in the brochure" and promptlly left as i remember him sayig its a plc and he was getting shackled by the money men and could not operate in football in that way and the boards aspirations did not match his.

thought i would put this latest Anal oliver piece from the ronnie gill in ,if you can be arsed to read it he says something about deschamps needing a french school for his son . Houllier and Shearer the dream ticket Jan 16 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle SIR JOHN HALL is backing the “dream ticket” of Gerard Houllier and Alan Shearer to manage Newcastle United. Gerrard Houllier In an interview with The Chronicle Sir John told me today: "If Mike Ashley can pull this off Newcastle United fans will never be out of his debt." The Chronicle revealed on Monday that United chairman Chris Mort had telephoned Shearer in Barbados to tell him he would not be considered for the job. But Shearer has made it clear that he is willing to give it a go, and as I reported yesterday, my feeling is that he would not be averse to working with Houllier. Meanwhile, the Chronicle can also reveal today one big obstacle to new favourite Didier Deschamps taking over at St James’s Park – a lack of a French school in Newcastle for his eight-year-old son. Like Shearer, Sir John still has a tremendous feeling for United, even though he is not involved any more despite his honorary president role. But he told me today: "Gerard Houllier was my choice for the job after Glenn Roeder left and I would love to see him come to the club. "And if he can work closely with Alan Shearer and help him learn all about the managerial side, it would surely be a dream come true for Newcastle supporters. "If Mike Ashley can make this happen it would be tremendous for every Newcastle fan – and I am one of them." The 60-year-old Houllier is now technical director for the French Football Federation, but any talk of him not being interested in coming to United can be taken with a pinch of salt. But what cannot be ignored is Shearer when he says: "This is my club and I would do anything to help them. "I might not have managerial exper- ience, but I know all about this football club, the fans and the area. "The club have had some unbelievable experienced managers in the past, and for whatever reason it has not gone well. "Experience does not guarantee you anything although it does give you a head start. "Managing Newcastle United is a very difficult job, but it is also a great job for me – up there with the England job." The Chronicle revealed yesterday that Houllier was a leading candidate, and that he would be prepared to have Shearer at his shoulder. And Shearer himself added: "If they are after an experienced manager, which they are, he will no doubt have his own man. If he hasn’t, he may not even want me as his No 2. "Again I would say that if someone comes in and wants to talk to me I would be willing to help in any way I can." Meanwhile, I was contacted by the Deschamps camp by Jamie Ladjemi, a leading agent in French football, who were keen to put the claims of their man who captained France to victory in the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, as well as leading Monaco to its first Champions League final as coach in 2004. Ladjemi told me today: "I have spoken to Chris Mort about Didier, but he has not come back to me." Deschamps turned down the chance to manage Manchester City before Sven-Goran Eriksson because there was no suitable French school for his son in the North West. And I am told this family situation is something which is high up on the former Chelsea midfielder’s agenda. Of course, the appointment of a new manager is way, way out at the top of Newcastle’s agenda. It appears United now favour a continental manager who can speak English – which would rule out the likes of Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, Steve McClaren and even Shearer himself. I also understand it is unlikely an appointment will be announced before Saturday.

why would he get scared and want to leave the club and for becoming what he once was who exactly has said that on this forum .the break in happened at his home in north wales so what the fucks that got to do with us .

http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48854.0 Sounds to me like he has no ambition at all. Definitely just here to make money off us, doesn't care or know anything at all tbh. Dream "I am here because I want to be here and because I want to win trophies. "That's it — period — to get trophies in the cabinet and have a ball doing it. I can't see anything wrong with that at all. "Buying a football club is something I've always wanted to do so it's living a dream. "I always said I bought this club to become part of its passion. "I'd like to think I've done that. Now I want to channel that passion into bringing success and I just can't wait until it happens"

Mourinho could give United fans the success they crave Jan 11 2008 by Luke Edwards, The Journal Sam Allardyce’s departure has led to the usual flurry of speculation about who is going to replace him. Luke Edwards believes there is only one outstanding candidate for the job, but can Newcastle United land him? IF Mike Ashley does not already have an idea of who he wants to replace Sam Allardyce as Newcastle United’s manager, he should do. For all of the speculation about who should succeed Big Sam, for all of those who might be interested in the challenge, there is only one truly outstanding candidate for the job. His name is Jose Mourinho. If the challenge for a manager at St James’s Park is unique, if the pressure and expectancy which engulfs you from the moment you accept the Magpies’ hotseat is special, it surely needs the self-professed “Special One” to take it on. If Ashley and his chairman Chris Mort want to employ the manager best equipped to end more than five decades of under-achievement on Tyneside, if they want to recruit the man with the best track record to succeed where so many big names and astute minds have failed in the past, and if they want the person who will unite everyone behind his leadership, they must look to Mourinho. It should not be a question of whether Newcastle are interested in the former Chelsea manager, the only question should be whether Mourinho is willing to listen to their offer or has he already looked away with a shrug of disinterest? This is a manager whose achievements at Porto and Chelsea make him the outstanding candidate for virtually every job at every major club in European football. Newcastle might be an intriguing proposition, a chance to prove his remarkable talents by succeeding where so many others – including his mentor Sir Bobby Robson – could not. Get things right at Newcastle and Mourinho will not only upset English football’s established order, gatecrash the Champions League party and become a legend on Tyneside, he will go down as one of the all-time greats, a man whose name will be mentioned alongside the likes of Busby, Chapman, Clough, Ferguson, Paisley, Shankly and Wenger. It is a mouth-watering prospect, but has it tantalised his taste buds? Or have the Portuguese’s eyes already lit up at the chance of testing himself in one of European football’s other major leagues. Newcastle United play in black and white stripes, but they are not Juventus. Neither, for that matter, are they one of the other European heavyweights of AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, all of whom have been linked with an interest in the 44-year-old. There is, however, another complication, the fact it is widely understood Mourinho agreed, as part of the generous compensation package he received when he was removed as Chelsea manager last September, that he would not takeover at another Premier League club until next season at the earliest. After Allardyce’s sudden departure, Newcastle need their new man sooner rather than later, unless they are going to appoint Nigel Pearson as caretaker manager until the end of the season, which would appear to be an unlikely scenario. Just because Mourinho is the outstanding candidate does not mean Newcastle will get him and there was a predictable avalanche of speculation regarding the identity of the man who will succeed Allardyce in English football’s toughest job yesterday. Given the fate that has awaited those who have followed Kevin Keegan as Newcastle manager, it would be understandable if few people wanted to accept the offer if it came. But there is still something irresistible about the challenge which means there will be plenty of people vying for Ashley and Mort’s attention. Harry Redknapp remains the favourite, despite distancing himself from reports he is interested in an offer to move to the North-East from Portsmouth. Blackburn’s Mark Hughes and former Tottenham boss Martin Jol have also been mentioned alongside the obvious candidate Alan Shearer. There were also plenty of rumours yesterday that Keegan had been seen in the city, while the credentials of the Italian Marcello Lippi and the German Ottmar Hitzfeld were also debated in pubs, restaurants and living rooms across the region last night. It would be helpful to have a clear idea of Ashley’s thinking, but Newcastle’s billionaire owner does not speak to the media and the best we can hope for is an indication of his plan which came from his close friend and former Spurs director Paul Kemsley. “I will not comment on if anyone is lined up, but I know Mike well enough to know that he does not make decisions brashly,” said Kemsley. “He is a very considered guy. He will know where he is going with this. He will stick with the plan and deliver what he believes will please the Newcastle fans. Mike isn’t a loser. This is a guy who made a billion just after 41st birthday. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs this country has delivered.” Being a successful businessman doesn’t guarantee being a successful football club owner, in the same way that being a great player doesn’t ensure you will be a successful manager. But Kemsley – who is credited with starting the campaign to replace Martin Jol as Spurs boss last season – is confident his friend is not only dedicated to bringing success to Newcastle, he has the ability to do just that. He added: “He along with everyone else at Newcastle wants to see good quality football. It is always a difficult decision to get rid of any manager. He thought about it and thought it was in the best interests for Newcastle to sack Sam. “People have to realise Sam was not Mike’s choice. Sam was already there. Expectations are much higher than Bolton, and quite rightly so. Mike took the view of saying, ‘Okay, let’s see if he can deliver what I want – good quality, attacking football – and win games’. He gave him time, but he has put £250m in the club and will invest more in the transfer window and in the summer. So he wants to do that with his own man in charge and his own team.” great article and i hope he mentions this to mort and see what sort of reply he gets ,fingers crossed .

Frank Rijkaard's future at Barca remains in doubt, particularly with Real Madrid now running away with the title. mentions a different agent here ?

Big Sam - I won't quit Allardyce hoping to be given time By Lewis Rutledge Last updated: 6th January 2008 Big Sam - I won't quit Sam Allardyce is confident he can turn around Newcastle's fortunes if he is given enough time. The Magpies' inconsistency this season has put pressure on Allardyce and speculation suggests club bosses are running out of patience. However, Allardyce believes it is unfair for people to expect him to deliver results immediately and wants to be given at least three years in the job. And he insists he will not even contemplate resigning if Newcastle lose to Stoke in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday. "No. Why should I?" Allardyce told the News of the World. Big job "It is 53 years since they won anything domestically here, so it is a big job to turn this club around. "I said it would take me three to five years - and I have only been here eight months." Stoke have been in fine form in the Championship in recent weeks and they have been tipped to knock Newcastle out of the cup, but Allardyce feels his side will progress. He explained: "The whole world thinks we are going to get beaten so we have to go there and use that as a motivational tool. "We have to accept that pressure but it's in our hands. We can only relieve the pressure by winning." Well looks like he wont jump but will mort push if we get beat off stoke, imho we might as well keep himand give him a fighting chance to turn it around against sacking and the merry go round again with no realistic better alternative atm .

Everyone who is Newcastle fan tells Sam what to do, only Bobby is lucky enough to get paid for saying it. All football managers who work over a long period of time sign s****: Wegner: Cygan,Stepanov, Wreh, Suker Fergie:Blomqvist,Taibi, Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson, but they have both won things what have we won (bobby was booted before he was given the chance to change things)

Oh, and those fans, they're the worst of the lot, aren't they? Just because 52,000 of them turn up for every game at St James Park and as many of them as possible grab tickets for away matches, doesn't mean they know anything about football. How, after watching for year after year, could they know what's best for Newcastle United F.C.?
