Because it's a position that isn't restricted to a central role, see Barton playing there last season for an example. I don't think i ever once saw Barton getting to the touch line, which is where Jonas is meant to be most dangerous. The whole point of a 433 midfield is that the 3 make up for the 4. I.e in the defensive sense he would be doing a pretty similar job, tracking back and protecting the full back. However, in the attacking sense we can't afford to have two centre mids playing on the wings because that leaves one in centre. In the premierleague you can't get away with that, even against the likes of Hull. If Jonas is going to be used effectively he is going to have to be played in his position i.e on the wing, in a 442. Otherwise we might as well not have bought him. For the record i liked the formation we ended the season with.

Choosing between Milner, Duff and Zoggy is hard. Think Jonas has stood out though.

Find it amusing that people are opting for Jonas in a central role. Why not just stick Duff into DM eh? I'd say, on current form; Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Enrique Faye Guthrie Milner Jonas Owen Martins Although there is still a huge question on whether Taylor will make the step up, as well as whether Duff is back on form after his shite. TBH it's a very hard choice.

Couldn't care less, as long as the club gets the players that they want in. There are positives to both ways of doing things.
-
Did he? I haven't seen the video of it. Just said the usual "In the next couple of weeks i would expect some comings and goings". Normally i'm not a guy to read into tiny things but it seems to be the theme of the thread. If he seemed confident about signing players, then he seemed confident of losing some.
-
Keegan also hinted at goings, apart from Smith, who else can you see leaving? My guess/hope would be Ameobi.
-
There's no chance that he won't sign. Still looking forward to official confirmation though.
-
I don't think he's technically brilliant but he does know how to keep a hold of the ball, which is important. As well as that he is very direct with his play, whether that be dribbling or passing. Rarely wasted time yesterday (straight onto the front foot), which is something we have been missing. Another positive is his stature. He's a big lad with energy to burn.

Yes because we have gone form Seba Larsson to Xabi, very likely.

I can't express how much i want them to sign smith. RE Man City/Corluka If that is true i feel very sorry for Man City fans, shocking stuff. We should be looking to sign both though.
-
No, two more full stop. Hopefully one of them will arrive before Man Utd.
-
Fairly sure that the second will be Warnock. The third MUST be a centre midfielder, hopefully Baptista, at a guess... Larsson.
-
Still convinced Warnock is a serious target.

N'Zogbia- best player on the park now.
-
David Villa..... pure class.

I'm sure his 60k pay packet this week will help him get over it. Irrelevant and a stupid comment. As a club we shouldn't be booing players just because they are crap, it's highly pathetic. I don't feel sorry for Smith, i feel sorry for those who boo someone who has given 100%.
-
Booing Smith is embarrassing, even if he is shit.
-
He got booed, disgraceful.
-
Game over, time to leave.

Brightest i have seen Duff in our shirt.
