  1. If we create as many chances against these lot as we did against Blackburn, Brum, Fulham and Spurs then we should win comfortably. My only worry is that Reading are the type of side who like to dig in against teams and scrap for a result but they are not a great goal scoring side. I'll go for Emre from the bench to find the net or Owen's head. 1-0
  2. We can't really say whether the performances are in any way related to Hughton arriving. Would be nice to think he's influencing our ability to pass and move though.
  3. Needed; Harper Beye Faye CB Enrique DM Barton AM Martins Viduka Owen My (semi- realistic) recommendations; CB- Dunne, Pique, Ben Haim DM- Carrick, Diaby AM, Deco, Diego, VDV

    Abdoulaye Faye

Bring Ben Haim in to partner him and let Taylor be first choice back up.
  5. Keegan has impressed me massively. Bringing Beye, Enrique and Faye into the side. Consistant starting line up's (On the whole). Sticking with Barton Dropping Duff and Smith Getting Owen scoring and playing a different style Getting the strikers playing in tandum Have all been brilliant decisions. We over do losses so often in this place it's about time we were allowed to over react to a win.
  6. Last time was against Spurs 4-0 under Bobby, Robert scored two amazing goals.

    Reyes a Target

Because, although talented, he is a bit of a lazy tart, i can't see him being a success on the wing in a 442, he would have to track back and make tackles. Robert did well so it is possible i suppose, but then he could be a bit like Luque and just not fit in anywhere. I dont think he was ever "lazy" at Arsenal but he was certainly no workhorse either. Robert and Ginola prior were similar styles, at least Reyes has had premiership experiance.

    Reyes a Target

N'Zogbia will be gone and Duff has no where near convinced me he's capable of being a top player again. Who knows why Reyes left Arsenal, could be any number of reasons. From what i saw of him when he was at Arsenal he would be a great addition, Pace, Goalscoring, Crossing and keeps a hold of the ball. The only worry for me would be that he's slightly injury prone and lightweight. It would also be a good move for Enrique having a fellow spaniard on the left side. 5m would be a snip for a 26 year old? Don't for a second believe the story like.

    Oba...Obafem

No no, they are cult hero's like Tino, Albert, Nobby etc. Legends are Shearer, Milburn etc.

Of course their fans are closer to the football. It's because they dont have as many people in suits wanting to watch their football because it's shit. If german football was at our standards then they would have the same problems with atmospheres.
  11. TBH i think Taylor and Cacapa are both good defenders. They just have looked shit in a shite team.
  12. I like N'Zogbia BUT if he wants to leave he can as far as i'm concerned. He's going to be a good player somewhere but his attitude seems to stink and there's plenty more fish in the sea. If we can recoup 8/9m and sell him to a FOREIGN club then i think it's a canny bit of buisness.
  13. I think you need to open your mind a little more. Enrique is as/more effective than Beye in the attacking sense but not going forward. By that i mean for everytime Beye beats their left back Enrique plays a neat little pass into the feet of Viduka or over the top for Martins. This contributes as much to an attack as Beye bombing down the right. Don't get me wrong i'd like to see Enrique get himself into similar positions but it's not the be all and end all to our football.
  14. I like the idea of Owen having a permenant "Bergkamp" role. What people often forget about Owen is that regardless of whether he's the best striker we have, he's also the best footballer we have. When he collects the ball in a deeper position he rarely gives it away and more often than not starts an attack. What is also good about this position is that it allows him run for deep and arrive late into the box, which suits "the goalscorer" in Owen. With Owen in this position, we can leave the debate about whether he's the same goalscorer for another day. What you can be assured of is that playing in this position he would chip in 10/15 goals a season anway.
  15. Harper Beye Faye Taylor Enrique Butt Geremi Barton Owen Viduka Martins I fancy us to go on a little bit of a run, even though Spurs will be expected to wallop us. I had similar thoughts about the same fixture last year. I also think our formation will suit playing Spurs, although winning is a tough ask. For me, Berbatov and Keane are nailed on to score. So i'll say 2-2 with Owen and Viduka for us.
  16. Apart from first half against Liverpool and second half against Man U, i think he's been solid everytime i've seen him play. I too saw him against Everton and i though he was one of our best players on the pitch. I sometimes think it's easier for people to think he some sort of crap spanish mercinary
  17. We won't finish in the top half best we can hope for is 12th because i don't quite we will catch spurs. The main thing was always that we didn't get relegated and i'm sure we wont now. The one thing i'd like to see now is consistant form. A draw at Spurs would be brilliant.

    Today's other games

Well played referee. Although the refs are shite he made the right choice sending Mascherano off, he's let Liverpool down big time. Reina is having a nightmare too.
  19. Was a fucking belter like. Even better than that was his 60 yard wonder pass to Martins.

    Oba...Obafem

All he's saying is that if he doesn't play regularly then it will be hard for him to stay. Surely every footballer thinks like that. Thats not even taking into consideration the fact that he has started the last two games.
  21. I though fixtures were meant to be random. How come every year we seem to have a "Super sunday". Fuck all random about it.
  22. opinions are what makes football great, viduka drove me fucking mad today. if that was him playing class i'd hate to say a poor performance. good goal though. What was poor about it? Scored a good goal, held the ball up well, won a fair bit in the air. He's not a workaholic and he never will be. Viduka is what he is, talented but bone idle. He's not going to charge down the goalkeeper but he'll always score goals. That'll do me. I thought Viduka was exactly what we have been missing. Someone creative and not afraid to shoot.
  23. Harper -7 Didn't have a great deal to do. A few long rangers from Bullard were easily stopped. Beye- 6.5 Wasn't as industrious down that flank as he normally is but had a great relationship with Geremi. Taylor- 7 Solid throughout Faye- 7 Solid througout Enrique-7 Some excellent passing, getting better by the game Geremi- 8 At the heart of all of our good play. Barton- 6.5 Hit and Miss again. He was either giving the ball away or linking up quite well Butt- 9 Great performance. Dictated the game. Owen- 8 Good build up and got his goal. Viduka- 8 The key to our team at the moment. Martins- 7 Should have scored but contributed well. On the whole Fulham were piss poor but you have to beat these teams. Not only did we outplay them completely but they never look like scoring. I cant remember them having one shot on target in the second half. Happy enough with our performance but more importantly 3 points that will see us clear of relegation IMO.
  24. I've got 2-1 Martins first goal scorer at 27-1, fingers crossed.
  25. TBH i'm expecting a cracking atmosphere.
