  1. The best KK 'quote' was when he was commentating on USA-Brazil in World Cup 94, Leonardo brutally elbowed some yank in the face. His take on things was hilariously wrong. I can't find it on the internet tho Think it went like... 'Didn't see anything wrong there to be honest' (shows reply, commentator - 'look at that elbow there Kevin') 'Aye, but he had a hold of his shirt there'
  2. Does the internet exclusitivity apply to cup games as well?
  3. Darren Bent Said it a few weeks back, stick Zog in the Pedro role and Bent as a Les-Lite
  4. I think everyone has either reservations on Keegan and/or Shearer or a fear that it will fail big time. But I bet most have (sometimes secret) thought that it could just work, and work bloody well and think it might just be crazy enough to work!
  5. We really really really really need some sort of pick me up before this game. Someone should get a troop of busty blondes down to training with the promise of a full show if they win (we could also send round a bunch of fat blokes with hairy backs promissing a lap dance if they dont).
  6. btw, what happened to Martins yesterday? Thought we had an agreement that he would be available for this one? NOt too bothered mind, thought the agreement that he could return for Man U wouldn't have done us, him or Nigeria any good, we should have pleaded to have had him for Stoke.

  8. Never had one of those texts myself regarding anyone being at x place. But I imagine they are like those chain texts you get, no-one is willing to break the chain and the hysteria grows
  9. Impressive Wrexham - Swansea - Newcastle No doubt that he's got the Swans playing good stuff, the fans love him down here, but he is to them what Keegan was to us - former player makes glorious return as manager. Wrexham were no great shakes under him. He's never managed Wrexham. I'm sure he was player manager there when Swansea took him back. But just checked and it was Chester I was thinking of, and he was captain. Oh the shame!
  10. Impressive Wrexham - Swansea - Newcastle No doubt that he's got the Swans playing good stuff, the fans love him down here, but he is to them what Keegan was to us - former player makes glorious return as manager. Wrexham were no great shakes under him. I'd look at Gary Johnson first if we're going down this route (and maybe even Tony Mowbrey). I'd also look at segregating the running of the first team to the rest of the club, get someone else in to look after all the infrastructure - dietary team, fitnes team, trainign ground etc. Of course the manager needs to be kept informed, but lets get specialists in. As an accountnat I wouldn't be expected to look after the marketing etc
  11. Got to balance it out. A trophey would be nice, but would only serve to change the 'no trophies in x years' journo line to 'one trophey...'. Regular European qualification, good cup runs and good football would do me. But I would love to see the Toon win a pot, if only to see how the whole place reacts
  12. its what you tend to do at the end of a holiday... Especially with work at MOTD on Saturday
  13. To bring out our old friend NE5's European qualification history, this is why we should have expectations higher than looking to sneak a 1-0 at Derby. Outside the big 4 we are the only English club to qualify for the Champions league more than once. We have been in Europe more often than not since we got promoted to the Premier League. We have finished 2nd twice, top five a further 3 or four times. Reached 2 cup finals, 2 FA cup semi finals and an UEFA cup Semi. We might not have won anything ever (ish) but that recent record shows why we should expect a team to challenge at least for a top 6 finish season in and season out. Though right now I would settle for a team who can pass to one another
  14. Certainly too smart not to distance himself from it straight away (Especially with Man U and a potential banan skin in Stoke coming up). Media image and all that.
  15. Does anyone else find the betting chart slighlty empty without Sven and Allardyce on it?
  16. My theory (maybe already posted but haven't read the whole thread) Ashley back from holiday, sees the Stoke game then aarranges a meeting with Sam. Sam says he needs £20m (insert any figure here) to strengthen the team due to the ANC etc. Ashley points out that 3 of the 4 leaving were Sam signings, Barton is in jail (or as good as) and Roz, Cacapa haven't set the world alight. Ashley gives Sam £5m then youngsters. Big argument, Sam says back or sack Ashley sacks
  17. Faye and Diarra centre mis. N'Zogbia in a free role. Duff and another as proper wingers Someone like Darren Bent (Charlton vintage) upfront - Martins if we we can't get anyone in.
